Once you take a stance of anti-consumer culture you're immediately labeled as a radical or an outsider, as if wanting to not waste your money on worthless shit is too bizarre a concept for a capitalist society to handle. Therefore, if you refuse to spend extra money on people on day that was made up by gift stores so you would spend more money, you're automatically a radical who hates Valentines day and all things associated with it... you heartless bastard.

I've been watching a lot of Carlin lately, he helps me become perceptive to these things.
