Sam's Thread of Chattin' w/ Jake & Other Robust Subjects

In fact, I feel like this:

Tinypic, eh?

Anyway, finally got around to seeing The Social Network thanks partly to the fact that I didn't get round to watch The Town. Or Gone Baby Gone. That's right, Affleck, fuck you. The updated list:

1. Fight Club
2. Se7en
=2. Zodiac
3. The Social Network
4. The Game
5. Alien 3
6. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
7. Panic Room

I'm still not sure about those last two. If somebody asked me which one I'd actually sit through again, I'd probably answer Panic Room.

Are those your favorite movies Sam?

If so you need to watch American History X, Edward Norton was terrific in that movie.

That and Pulp Fiction are my equal first best movies of all time.

No, that's the David Fincher directorial list. I don't think I missed anything out. Anything below The Social Network doesn't come close to cracking the top 100.

I tell a lie - I have a soft spot for Alien 3 and The Game is like if M Night Shyamalan was a competent film-maker. The bottom two might as well not exist though.

I feel it's overrated. Anything with violent anal rape is bound to get rave reviews. Still good, mind you.

Pulp Fiction is so good that you should be punched in the face for feeling obliged to even point out how good it is. It's self-evident.

Some points about The Social Network:
  • It would have felt more original if The Big Bang Theory didn't already exist.
  • Why bother with CG breath? I was like, "What the fuck is wrong with their breath?". First bad Fincher use of CG?
  • Oh, they're twins but they're not - one of them just has a CG face. Best Fincher use of CG?
  • The rowboat sequence was good, eh?
  • Worst English accent ever. Posh American =/= English, son.
  • Spider-Man's in it.
  • Justin Timberlake - better at acting than he is at music. Mind you, I knew this already from Southland Tales.
  • Why did none of these ***** ever maximise a page? Is it, like, a coder thing?
  • Good ending, good song. I liked the use of F5.
  • So, in conclusion, not the (critical) flop I first expected from those... bizarre trailers.

I look forward to Fincher's Girl With A Dragon Tattoo. A version equally as good that won't suck every ounce of energy out of me? I'm in.

In other movie news, this trailer makes me cum:

I thought JT was pretty good in Alpha Dogs.

Chances are I'll be checking The Social Network out soon.

He was allright but the tipical gangster kinda got lost to me because i knew jt didn't know what the fuck he was talking about haha. I could of delt with less tats from him to. But it was ok

Saying Finsher is wank is another thing I've found out is frowned upon. The stats don't lie though. Three great films and lots of gash. Actually that makes him above average, but you can't say that and make the same impact.

Four great films. The only ones that are anything less than decent are Benjamin Button and Panic Room. But yeah, well above average.

Thought you were a little unlucky today, Jake. Played really well both on the ground and in the air. Scored a good goal too.

One defensive lapse and a referee being lenient on Neville cost you a point.

As much as it pains me to highlight anything good done by a Utd player, Hernandez' header was an excellent piece of improvisation
