Sam's Thread of Chattin' w/ Jake & Other Robust Subjects

Halloween is shit. I was on the DLR last night and there were two women about 45 years old crawling about pissed up dressed as witches. The whole thing was embarrassing really.

Going to an all night Halloween film screening tonight. Halloween (original), The Thing, Escape From New York & The Rocky Horror Picture Show. I'm not really sure who picked those films, but I haven't got anything better on.

Sam, ordering a funky box set from over the internet? But what if the corners are all knocked in on the box?

Still haven't watched it. It'll probably just sit there unwatched next to Michael Clayton. Like I'd ever watch a film with George Clooney as the lead!

Finished the second series of Deadwood instead. Like the first series, it was pretty good. Who woulda thought?

I have decided that another visit to the cinema is necessary in the near future. The question being; Monsters or Let Me In? I'm pretty sure Empire only gave Monsters five stars because the director was kind enough to fill about sixteen pages in the last issue but hey, we'll see. Also, I kind of want to tear Chloe Moretz's head off and throw it into traffic. Who plays the boy in Let Me In? I hope it's Max Records. Never saw, um, that film based on the kids' book (had Tony Soprano in it - you know the one) but man, great name.

Edit: Oh, and Tin Tin looks expectedly wank but supposedly not everyone finds MoCap 3D films - how to describe it? - visually obnoxious. Speed Racer made me want to make the Wachowski brothers watch me eat their eyes, just so they could experience what they made me experience with that big pile o' bright wank.

I'll save you the time; you will. Doesn't mean it can't be good, mind you. In the Venn diagram of films, "shit films" and "films Becca likes" don't overlap entirely - just mostly.

My main dilemma is Let Me In or Jackass 3D. I mean, I've seen Let The Right One In, so why bother with an American remake that's good, but not better than the original?

Tintin, nobody wants to actually see that film. I was surprised by how good the mo-cap look in the stills mind. Although each character looks like they're made of the same material as a Bully doll off Bullseye.

Whereas the Jackass sequel might actually be better than the original?

It's not really mo-cap in the stills though, is it? More like, uh, cap.

People that aren't Empire say Monsters is wank. Mind you, people who aren't Empire are usually even more wrong than Empire.

I'll tell you right now that I'm going to get Monsters & Skyline mixed up for the next 18 months or so, even though they're totally different films.

He's got the Superman gig next. Arguably, there's only ever been one decent Superman film so he ain't got much to beat. He'll still make something pretty shit though. 300, Watchmen, Dawn of the Dead - all decidedly wank.

I enjoyed 300 for what it was - an artsy bastardisation of one of the most heroic stands in history

The frst half of Watchmen was good but I feel it petered out near the end. Rorshach was great

Artsy? Ehh. It was visually, well, not interesting. I think I might have to break out my visually obnoxious term again.

Rorschach was easily the best bit of Watchmen. The Comedian was surprisingly bad. Wooden as fuck.

I enjoyed watchmen, it entertained me. That's all I ask in a movie.

Dawn Of The Dead is good. Am I the only person who liked Superman Returns?

Let Me In, probably would've moved me more if I hadn't see Let The Right One In. It had sexier children, I'll give it that.

David Fincher is remaking The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. It'll be equally as good but much less draining. It's a good thing.
