Rob Terry: Fortune's New Insurance Policy?

RVDisTNA

Occasional Pre-Show
Anybody else think Rob Terry would be an excellent addition to Fortune? He could be a counter to Matt Morgan. And being that he's been AWOL as of late. I think it would be a good way for him to make his return. He could be like the secret service. Doesn't speak (Cuz we know he's not good on the mic), he just stands in the back in a suit and sunglasses and does the dirty work Flair tells him to do. Thoughts?

Actually, I think Terry would work really well in that role, you're absolutely right, he can't talk at all but being Flair's lackey wouldn't require it. It would mean Flair talking for him, I really hate listening to him (Flair) but they're gonna give him the mic time either way, might as well use it to get someone over.

Not at all. Terry is BAD, and everyone in TNA finally realized that. They just got rid of Morgan and Doug Williams and cut it back to the original Fortune. It would make no sense. Terry is BAD.

He doesn't need to be GOOD to do it, he just needs to be HUGE.

I think this would work well. He could be seperate from the core four and just be Flair's bodyguard. It's really all he did in the British Invasion. As long as they don't over-complicate it, TNA could pull it off.

Batista was bad, but he looked good hanging off of Flair, didn't he? And you know what, Batista drew money!

I think it would be following a proven formula. And I do think Terry would benefit from it. He just needs to work on his in ring game. And being a powerful guy, he really doesn't have all that much to learn. Clothesline, Scoop slam, Gorilla Press, Corner Splash, Chop, Shoulder Block... etc...

It could work well, providing Terry is kept quiet. Granted he's not the best in the ring, but for his massive size he is agile and there is potential for improvement there IMO.

TNA needs more big men wrestling/involved and with the right guidance and person to get him over Terry could help fill the void.

Fortune is perfect the way it is. It was overloaded with Morgan and Williams as members. Why does Flair need a bodyguard when he is surrounded by four of the most badass wrestlers in TNA? Terry is a joke, the TNA audience considers him a roided up musclehead that can't do shit in the ring. If he wrestled under the Fortune banner he would degrade the whole group. Terry has potential, but he needs to go back to wrestling school and learn his trade somewhere besides on TV.

That's a trio of solid points, bro. Obviously they just made the move to trim the fat from the stable, so why add one guy who isn't as good as either of the two they just removed? Fortune's supposed to be about the elite, and Terry is hardly that.

Plus, you're dead on about Flair not needing a bodyguard. Roode and Storm are as tough and lethal as it gets. If this is really the next-gen Horsmen, then they need to handle their own business.

I agree, getting forture back to 4 guys is what's best for the group. Flair taking the role of JJ Dillon, Rude & Storm taking the roles of Tully & Arn, AJ as Flair, and Kaz as, well, (Insert favorite 4th member here).
That's what this group was supposed to be about. If they want to truely emulate one of the best stables in the history of wrestlling, getting rid of williams & Morgan was a great start.
Ric Flair does not need a body guard as long as he can still lace up the boots, and adding more people to furtune only waters down the group and does a disservice to those 4 fingers they hold up every night.

I thought the idea of Fortune was that it was a re-incarnation of the Four Horsemen? With Flair playing the managerial role and AJ being the old "Ric Flair" of the group? Surely you only need 4 members?

However, if someone is going to play the bodyguard/enforcer type role in the faction, and Morgan is gone, then Big Rob is the best option I think. Big, muscular, and acceptable in the ring. I think he would be fine in the role. As he isnt doing much at the moment, I think it could be a good thing for him to become a part of faction. In that kind of group, he could learn and grow in the role, as Batista did in Evolution, and then break away on his own later on.

It's almost certainly not going to happen, nor should it happen. While Matt Morgan was the "Insurance Policy" for Fortune, he was used for shit most of the time. Morgan was often booked to look quite weak and incompotent. Hell, I'm pretty sure that he lost every match he was in while he was hooked up with Fortune and Morgan is an infinitely better wrestler than Rob Terry.

Having Terry as nothing more than dumb muscle for the group just doesn't sound interesting. He filled that same role as part of The British Invasion and, as others have mentioned, Fortune doesn't really need an "insurance policy" in the first place. Flair is a great mouthpiece and I think Fortune would be infinitely better if Flair stopped wrestling altogether and just kept to the role of the mentor/mouthpiece of the group. Beer Money is arguably the best all around tag team in wrestling right now. We all know what AJ Styles is capable of inside the ring. Kaz strikes me as the only weak link in the group, but he's also good inside of the ring. Terry would bring nothing to the group aside from a look. They already had a guy with a look in Matt Morgan, plus Morgan is a pretty good wrestler to boot whereas Terry simply isn't.

What for? They don't need an insurance policy. They just got done running the former one out (albeit he chose to leave anyway), as well as Williams so they could establish the "Core Four". Why fuck with that again to bring in more muscle, worse yet, Rob Terry? Makes no sense.

No.

Fortune is doing just fine as they are.
