Rhodes and Ziggler.

Kesteral

Occasional Pre-Show
Two young great wrestlers bringing prestige back to the mid card titles in the WWE in Dolph Ziggler and Cody Rhodes. I can't think of a time I've been more excited about both the US and IC champions. They both sum up to me what a mid card champion should be. A talented young wrestler who's over with the fans, who can cut a good promo, wrestle a good match and is constantly improving. Like many greats have said the IC and US title guys are the people who have the good matches on the roster, well if we're basing that off Dolph and Punk tonight and Cody vs Orton recently then I'd say so. I feel the key to both of them becoming main eventers and legit players is not to rush them into the main event scene. Keep them champions for a while longer and put them in good fueds with established stars. Once they've got more over and honed their craft I can't see why either of them can't become WWE champions one day. The future's bright.

Ziggler/Punk was definitely the bright spot tonight. They're both great champions but they're fighting in a division alone. Apparently the best challenger they can produce for the US title is Rhyder(I understand it from a business sense). There's plenty of mid card talent but they're kinda just floating around. Both titles appear to attract loose storylines(Morrison/Ziggler). Sheamus fighting either one would be great exposure for the division. Especially with focus on ADR/CM Punk and Henry/Show Cody/Barett would've been better than Santino/Rhodes especially with Randy making an appearance. Just my opinion.

You've stated the obvious my friend. It's hard to find two up and comers in the WWE that seem to have so much potential like both Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler. They have both brought a lot back to their respective midcard title. The future does seem bright for these two. What these two might need is a good solid feud to help them get over more. Cody has feuded with Randy Orton and that did a very nice job of getting him some reaction from the crowd. Another feud with a WWE legend like Booker T could do the trick. As for Ziggler, I've been dying to see him lock up with Cena. While The Rock is off doing whatever, John Cena has nothing to do. A solid feud with Dolph Ziggler would both give Cena something to do and possibly get Ziggler over. After that, I'd kill to have these two competing for World Titles after Wrestlemania this year, if they're over and ready enough.

A potential feud between Rhodes/Booker T would be interesting as I was watching Raw tonight. But unless Booker T is going to compete for the Intercontinental title(not seeing it) then its not helping the title scene as a whole yet again. Leaving the belt to serve nothing but one purpose as just a mere tool to get him(Rhodes) over - which honestly all it is anyway. I cannot fully say prestige has been brought back until the division is relevant again.

That's the truth, these two are without a doubt the future of the company along with the likes of Sheamus and Barrett. I do believe that the way to build these guys up is to keep it slow and give them a nice steady build and make sure that when they win their titles that they do so in a legitimate one on one match without any outside interferance. Both of these guys have immense talent and potential, they're growing as performers every day we see them and their in ring abilites are the best of their class.

Ziggler's character has grown alot in the past few months, people bash him being paired with Vicki but I think that she helped carry him when his mic skills still needed work and made him look stronger as of late. Now that he is showing signs that he doesn't want anyone talking for him I think that is making him look like a brand new superstar and couple that with his excellent ring abilities and we have a WWE champion most likely in the next year to year and a half.

Cody's transition from Dashing to Grotesque and now to this shredded and confident superstar was incredible in my opinion. From when he became to grotesque to the night after dropped his protictive mask the change in his physique was huge, I had noticed it a bit over the past few weeks but the other night it hit me big time just how much he has changed over the last year. Cody Rhodes looks more like a world champion than he ever has, he has this new feel of confidence along with great mic skills and a very good and entertaining flow in the ring. I see this impressive young Intercontinental Champion becoming a World Heavyweight Champion in the next year for sure, he's rising fast and the Universe knows he's almost ready but he is too perfect to screw up, they should take their time getting him to that belt and I believe they are on the right track to do so.

Rhodes and Ziggler are the future of the WWE, that's why they need to begin feuding with each other. The Rock and Triple H came through together, feuding from the bottom of the roster to the top. Mid card guys need a someone at their level to work with to bring out their full potential. If those two steal the show at a PPV view or two we won't have to have the "is it gonna happen for these two guys, and when?" discussion anymore.

Fuck, even better... Does anyone remember the Rock feuding with Austin for the IC belt? The two greatest of all time going at it three years before their big Wrestlemania main event. Imagine a real champion vs champion match between Cody and Ziggler.

Those two are the biggest assets the WWE has right now. They guarantee that the company won't implode once some of the current big names start getting old (either in age or in reaction).
Both are fantastic, both will most likely be staple main event competitors, both will carry multiple World championships over the course of their career (Ziggler even already has one).

Big fan of both wrestlers. Throughout the year, Cody has shown to be a complete package with room for improvement(although much isn't needed), while Ziggler has been improving on the mic every week. I enjoy these guys at the mid card, but someone needs to step up and help the main event. There's only about 4-6 real main eventers in the WWE(Cena, Orton, Punk, Taker, H3....maybe Miz), and we definitely need more heading into WM.

But my biggest problem is this "prestige" they are bringing to their respective belts. When was the last time you saw a great IC or US Title match? I refuse to believe that you can bring anything to a belt that you don't defend. Ziggler is a great wrestler, but has lost most of his singles matches recently. Cody name is getting bigger for fighting Orton, but you don't want your champions losing too much.

The company is really heel heavy right, especially in the up-and-coming department. I'd love to see Ziggler get into a real feud with Punk, but what young faces are going to challenge these guys for the next decade?

OH man I put 10? 2 is what I meant lmao. I'm loving Cody right now.... He's from my hometown too haha.

But his transition has been insane. Even when he was Dashing, his entrance was so unique... Then over to Undashing... And now his new gimmick which is a combination of the two. He has a fair amount of charisma... but it's the look. The feel IMO, Cody's gimmick would have the same success 7 years ago. He's got that presence.... that EDGE. 2 years of maturation and development and Cody is top heel. MSG ate it up.

Rhodes and Ziggler are two of the best midcard champions we have had in years. For once WWE is using their secondary titles correctly because they are legit stepping stones for both guys to break into the main event. After countless title reigns that didn't matter it is a relief to see the titles being used properly to help build main eventers. Ziggler is ready any day now to move up the card and Rhodes is not far behind him. I see them main eventing their respective brands shortly afer Wrestlemania or by summer.

The feud with Austin/Rock was at the end of '97 for the Intercontinental title which was when the belt was tossed over a bridge, from there Austin started his quest towards the WWE title. They didnt feud again intoned they were both atop the company. The Rock as a 3rd generation superstar was strongly emphasized when he first came to WWE thus why he was called 'Rocky Maivia' - he had already won the Intercontinental title in little to no time so his push came a lot sooner than Rhodes/Ziggler

I knew when Ziggler showed up as "Dolph Ziggler" that this character would reach a different level for midcarders. Thats exactly what happened. Good for him. I think he worked his ass off to become a great midcarder and i think another 18 months from now he will be a great main eventer. Cody on the other hand had an open opportunity being a part of Legacy. I will say its sad to see that Dibiase didnt get the clear shot he needed. I think dibiase could fit in the rankings with these two guys too. Im also surprised that R-Truth got bumped to main eventing before Ziggler and Rhodes.
