Can We Stop Trying To Push Cody Rhodes and Dolph Ziggler Into The Main Event?

I can see the logic in keeping Cody as the Intercontinental Champion a little longer. He is not fully ready to main event yet ....

I can agree with that and it frames the question asked by the OP. I don't see either Cody or Dolph as main eventers, either now or in the future. They don't possess the personality and charisma necessary to be at the top of the card. Now, many folks would read that statement and presume I'm saying that neither guy is any good. That isn't the case; they're both fine......on the mid-card. I enjoy watching their matches and appreciate how hard they work.

But....personality? To me, no one is more bland than Cody Rhodes. He speaks (I'm told) in a monotone voice and delivers his words in deadpan fashion, whether his gimmick is dashing, disfigured or whatever it is he's doing now. He isn't that interesting a character, but his gimmicks are interesting, which is indicative of the notion that a performer isn't going anywhere until Creative gives him something to run with. No one in WWE has been the beneficiary of management's largesse more than Cody Rhodes.

With Dolph Ziggler, it's not that he's been given gimmicks to run with as much as he's been given constant exposure. His matches are terrific, but except for Vickie Guerrero, there's not much else to Dolph's persona. He has a prodigious workrate, and I'd bet that other guys on the roster wonder why Dolph appears on just about every Raw and Smackdown while they sit and wait for a chance.

It could be that some new main event guys are needed, yet there's really no one available to fill the role.......so they're feeding us guys like Cody and Dolph.

It's not a pretty picture.

Cody Rhodes has done some excellent character work this last year and is in the right spot at this point, not because I think the belt needs him, but more because I think making good on his claim to return it to it's former glory is a good angle for him to have a very long run with it before hitting the ME. The big issue is challengers, the mid card is a bit low on faces and two of their best options are currently spearheading the tag division revival. In the long run Cody will be a top class main event talent IMO.

Dolph is ready now, he's had extensive runs with both mid card belts, he's had good matches with all the top guys, has shown he can talk when given the chance and is arguably the best in ring performer there is right now. For the longest time John Morrison got the 'New HBK' tag, but Dolph is the guy looking most like it to me and has the potential to be a fantastic heel champion, something not really seen since Edge.

And because they were staples Steamboat, Roberts, Rude and Mr. Perfect never won the world title. Those four wrestlers can be argued for as the four greatest wrestlers to never win the world title. So no, Dolph and Cody should not stay in the mid card because we don't want them to be added to the list stated above.

Well I don't recall Jake ever fighting on PPV for any belts, Jake was in high profile feuds without belts for most of his career. As for the other three, there are longer stories that go with why they weren't WWF champion but one major factor they all share was back then belts didn't change hands every few months because there were only 4 PPV's and one of them didn't feature title matches at first, so IC feuds and reigns were long.

These two should join forces and form a tag team called something like new era , then they can feud with

1 air boom, and the colons
2 ziggler with punk
3 Cody with Daniel Bryan

The aim of this to get a dominant tag team stable thing, which will steal a lot of heat.. Putting them majorly over with the crowd.. What do you think?
