Reigns being elevated?

khrissr10

Dark Match Winner
I had the chance to watch Reigns vs. Dbry at Fastlane last night and it felt that it was somehow good but the credits go to Dbry.

When I was watching the match it gave me the impression that Dbry is making Reigns look good especially with his "new" moves added to his arsenal. In the last week episode of Raw, Reigns in clearly being "put over" by Dbry.

Do you guys feel that this is a very clever move from WWE just to "force" Reigns as a main event guy? Is being elevated or praise by Dbry did help him?

He's been "being elevated" for the better part of the past year :wtf:

No it's actually quite normal and it's exactly what Roman needed.
When you have an untested guy being pushed chances are there will be some backlash,
That is until he is proven in front of everyone.

Orton had his moment with Benoit (a match few people expected Orton to win)
Cena had his with Angle, Brock with Undertaker in 2002, Austin with Bret, Rock with Mankind again and again we see it. Shouldn't be any surprise that's how it went, it's how it should go.

Like SoulTrain said this is a very normal occurrence inside of the WWE but do I think it's a clever move.....Absolutely Not!!! Having Bryan hype Reigns will work on the younger fans (aka the merchandise hounds) and get them chanting his name because of Bryan respects him then so do I but in the long term it will not change the way the Internent Fans or the "Intellegent Fans" perceive him, honestly it will probably make some of them hate him even worse.

You see back when Orton, Cena, Brock & all the others got a similar type of "rub" people were quicker to jump on board because of the era we were in. Now the wrestling fans sees too much & knows too much about the inner workings of the business for lame segment like that to work because we all saw it coming a month before it happened. WWE needs to learn to chill out and allow characters & fans to evolve naturally. In my opinion they should make Bryan the next guy in line (because he is already soooooooooo over) & make Reigns a top heel (with a manager & mouthpiece like a Paul Heyman) chasing the guy that took his spotlight - that would be far better for them both right now.

I think it is pretty obvious to everyone that the WWE are pulling out all the stops to try and get Roman Reigns over; and that definitely includes getting people like Daniel Bryan to put him over. Whilst I feel as though the match at Fastlane was definitely a step in the right direction for Reigns, and for the direction that the WWE is trying to go in (like it or not), I think they have to be very aware of what they are doing to the reputation of Daniel Bryan and how they use him.

Reigns has come on a little bit. Enough that I don't think his match at Mania will be a steaming pile of shit. But there is a lot more work to do to get him to the appropriate level of talent. 10 years ago, a talent like Roman Reigns would never have made the main event at WrestleMania but this isn't 10 years ago. The WWE are going to have to work very hard to get Roman over and make this worthwhile.

The OP is absolutely right that everyone is a tool at this point. A tool that is being used to get Roman over.

From the perspective of WWE trying to get Roman Reigns over, the prime obstacle to accomplishing that was the people's passion for Daniel Bryan. So, given the scripted nature of pro wrestling, who better to step out of the way and give props to Roman than Daniel himself?

I still find it hard to accept the idea that casual fans are against Reigns because they think he's too inexperienced. Sure, it would be nice if fans were that educated about wrestling, but I don't really buy it. Seems to me they're more entranced by Daniel Bryan and his chant ("Yes!") than the finer points of the "sport."

So, WWE had to try and turn the tide from Daniel to Roman......and used Daniel to do it.

Will it work? With people who are true wrestling fans (like those of us on this forum), I would say no.

Will the casual fans buy into Daniel's selling of Roman? It remains to be seen, but as long as Daniel is at WM31 and they get to do their damn chant, maybe all will be forgiven and they might be able to get behind Roman Reigns in his title match.

Reigns being elevated? Sure, but it's not a recent development.

Even though I appreciate wwe in attempting to make a new star I do have to say that on Monday it did seem kind of desperate the way bryan and heyman where "elevating" reigns.... I mean both of them calling reigns "sir" is kind of the equivalent of them being reign's bitch... I mean at some time wwe has to have some dignity...

I'm a true wrestling fan and it worked for me! It told a story of a powerhouse proving he had all the guts to hang with a technical wrestler. The pay off is that the technical wrestlser endorses the powerhouse and after they tough battle they had he bolieves the powerhouse has all the outer/inner strength to slay the beast. The match was one of the best PPV Main Events in pro-wrestling history and it was the stepping stone for Roman Reigns to began his quest as a MEGA-Superstar. He proved the doubters wrong after many days of people saying, "He CAN'T do this." or "He CAN'T do that!". The Roman Empire will only grow from here on out and you can BELIEVE THAT! (Side note: Lots of people think Daniel Bryan sucks on the mic or is average at best, but every time he speaks people think he's doing a "shoot". Daniel Bryan is one of the best on the mic because the audience can feel his emotions and the message is sold with a powerful voice of inspiration.)

They're ruining dbry's reputation and making him look like a chump(again) to try and get reigns over. Bryan doesn't really have bad matches, he carried roman. If the wwe was smart they would have pumped the breaks when roman started getting these reactions because roman is about to be crapped on at mania. Regardless they ruined dbry and made him seem like a chump and a joke and they probably did it on purpose I doubt bryan will be in the title scene again at this point. The fans can only try for so long if vince won't listen people get discouraged. Vince clearly doesn't take Daniel Bryan seriously.

No it told a story of one of the best technical wrestlers on the roster today showing that he's a true ring general. He carried Reigns through that match. Daniel Bryan could have a great match with a broomstick. As for endorsing him, he was told to do that as well. If you really think Daniel Bryan thinks Reigns is better than him, then you're wrong there as well.

No it was not one of the best matches in PPV history. Well unless this is the only one you've ever watched. And like someone else said on another post, Reigns should be a superstar before he even goes for the title at Mania, this match shouldn't make it and it won't.

One good match doesn't prove doubters wrong, and it never will.
