This is what needs to happen a lot more often: random matches where the champion gets to dominate. Not everything has to be interacting with the opponent for the PPV.

You criticized the "surprise debuts" as not being as good when looking back. Which is completely different from judging a match after it's hype has taken off. And I saw HBK vs Taker a good three months after it happened for the first time, and it was nowhere near the match of the decade as people proclaimed it to be. It wasn't even the best WWE match of 2009, Rey vs Jericho at the Bash was better.

I agree with this. That is one thing WCW did well, especially with the lower titles. Give the champ a random match and either let it go to time limit so they both look good or have the champ win convincingly. It's not that hard and gets rid of the stale tag team DQ main events.
