Raw Is......Springer??

Jack-Hammer

YOU WILL RESPECT MY AUTHORITAH!!!!
According to wrestlinginc.com, there's gonna be a segment on Raw this coming Monday involving The Bella Twins and the segment will be "moderated" by an expert of family dysfunction, Jerry Springer.

This....:banghead: I dunno....this just has "train wreck" written all over it. The immediate impression I get from this is that it's a segment that Vince himself has penned, wants to see and thinks will be monstrously entertaining. As I said in another thread talking about the Divas recently, we tend to have something of a tongue-in-cheek view of feuds, fights, arguments or whatever when it comes to women in our society. We generally just don't take them as seriously as we do with men, that's especially true if the women involved are hot. Anything involving Jerry Springer is pretty much a joke, so his involvement in this segment won't be doing the story any favors whatsoever.

Springer's more of a parody of a talk show host than anything else and one reason this strikes me as having Vince's fingerprints all over it is that you can practically smell the "sports entertainment" coming from it. With WWE going up against the season premiere of Monday Night Football next week, I very, very much doubt that people are going to be changing the dial to watch a talk show host that peaked 15 years ago involved in a talk show-esque segment featuring The Bella Twins.

Just.....yeah.

The Bella segments are designed to make you watch Total Divas. This presents a problem because it's REALLY getting on the nerves of fans who watch Raw and only Raw. The story isn't intriguing and is going to lead to a showdown that people aren't interested in seeing. Why aren't they interested in seeing it? Because the Bellas aren't good workers. It's going to be the same lackluster match that we've seen these two have against other opponents for years and the fans will be silent. I have zero interest in whatever Brie did when she was a teenager or whatever and I have no idea why I'm supposed to care. WWE insists on having these two dominate the airwaves and bringing in Jerry Springer is only going to make things feel less important.

You know, I'm starting to hate what the WWE is doing to me. I've White-Knighted a few angles in the past that I wasn't a fan of simply because I could see the plan in place and why they were doing it. Lately, however, I'm starting to find myself agreeing with the ******ed keyboard mashers that frequent these parts of the forum a little bit because seriously, there is NOTHING to gain from this angle.

Now they're bringing in Jerry Springer, a guy who would have been a dated reference during the fucking Attitude Era, to moderate a segment between these two nothings. Who the fuck are they trying to attract here? Who the fuck is dying to see this segment? Between this and the open invitation to Michael Sam (It's going to be Damien Sandow, sorry for the spoiler,) I don't think I'm even going to watch the show at all.

I usually tune out this time of year for the NFL anyway but it's always a a gradual process. I would still DVR the show or read the results, maybe Youtube something that piques my interest. This year, however, they're not even trying to keep a viewer like me to stick around. So, fuck 'em.

Why would WWE want to do this?

Bellas add very little to the show, they aren't good actors, they aren't good talkers, and while they have improved a little inside the ring, they aren't the greatest workers. And Jerry Springer? Really? I mean really? This has disaster written all over it. Is this the best they can come up with when trying to get the universe reup their network subscriptions?

For all we know, we might end up with a Jerry Springer Show on Network! Ugh!

I'm watching Main Event and they just announced that a little while ago. If last night wasn't cringeworthy enough, I have a feeling this will be like watching a car crash in slow motion.

Afraid there will be a lot of going for a cigarette and coffee breaks during this show, as there was during last night's RAW. God this will be awful. As long as there isn't a bunch of overweight women in the front row lifting their shirts for "Springer beads", it might pass quickly.

And yes I am guilty of watching Jerry Springer in the past. Now I'm sad.

EDIT: Vince thinks this will be monstrously entertaining. Jesus Christ what a fucking moron.

I gotta speak on this.

Where was Jerry Springer that year when the Hardys were feuding? Anyway the WWE is the perfect place for a guy like Jerry Springer. Hey it's the USA network right? Characters welcome! I just hope that they give Jerry S. more to do opposed to his last time on RAW in 2010. And yeah it sucks that the WWE had Jerry Springer place second fiddle to Michael Sam. But I would have booked Springer first personally to a football player who wasn't on a team this past labor day weekend.

Let's wait and see where all this goes come Monday with Jerry Springer and the Bella's on RAW. And don't put that other Jerry between the Bella's ever again before he gets another bitch slap.

Oh man this fucking absolutely sucks balls.. The already awful horrible angle involving the Bellas is going to get worse if you can believe it.. No one cares about this, the bellas are just terrible actors.. My god a roll of toilet paper has more talent than these two do..

Who the hell cares about what Brie did to Nikki when they were teenagers.. Seriously this is Plan B on WWEs part because Michael Sam turned them down? Bring in some washed up entertainer in Jerry Springer.. I was amazed that he was still alive.. The WWE does realize that this is the opening night of MNF i hope they know that.. I always watch Raw and hardly ever skip a segment.. This is the kind of shit, that people are talking about that is indeed cringe worthy..

This is beyond a trainwreck.. For gods sake Vince scratch this segment please.. Say you have the measles or something.. I rather watch paint dry than this shit

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo

This is going to be corny, cheesy, boring, over played, it will drag on, it will be at the end of the 2nd hour thus we have to sit through 2 hours of promos before hand. Nothing will be solved. Its going to be awkward. Please crowd shit all over this segment. I know it hasn't happened yet but the feud is boring, designed to make us watch another show instead of the one we are already watching.

I'm not one to complain about things but this... :banghead:

I'm quite surprised they went after Jerry Springer. I figured they would have Brock Lesnar or even Vince McMahon make an appearance.

Jerry Springer isn't going to save RAW. Next week's RAW ratings are going to be ugly. Nobody's checking for Jerry Springer like that after 5 p.m. ET

I'm normally very patient with the wwe. They have unnecessary, stupid, boring etc. segments all the time. But this whole Bella feud is unbearable. It's so bad. I have never been more frustrated watching a tv show then when Nikki Bella is trying to act. I quite literally become overcome with embarrassment and beet red with shame.

Is he even relevant anymore? Does he still have a show?
This is a guy who once said "My show is the dumbest show on television." It was something along those lines anyway.

I'm guessing they decided since the NFL player is going to be on the show they need to fill that time with something?

Or has this been the plan all along?

If it's just one segment and doesn't take up too much time I guess I can sit through it. I don't have to like it but I can sit through it. And if it's too bad there's always Monday Night Football.

Why would WWE bring Springer back!? He was awful when he guest hosted Raw 4 years ago. It was cringe-worthy back then and I'm sure it will be even worse this time, due to him being in charge of yet another horrendous Bella segment. When will WWE figure out that The Bellas SUCK!? This angle is a clear candidate for the worst of the year. I'll give this segment a chance, but I'm 99.9% sure it will end up being so stupid that I fast forward through it. Not looking forward to this whatsoever.

For anyone who doesn't think Vince McMahon is way, way behind the times?

Jerry goddamned Springer.

The only way this segment could be saved is if Steve Wilkos comes out and soupbones everyone right in the mush.

There are many, many, many, MANY things confusing about this creative choice for a Monday Night Raw that is going up against opening night of Monday Night Football ... which gets about 12 million viewers!

Monday Night Raw on a GOOD DAY, these days, gets about 4.5 million.

Now, how on Earth did Vince approve this decision? I actually don't think he could have come up with it because Vince doesn't watch other shows so he shouldn't really know any more about Springer than even WE do. So, what probably happened, which is scary to think, is that some creative member pitched this idea to Vince talking about how some trash TV host from 15 years ago would add to the Bellas trainwreck storyline and Vince thought it was okay. Not just "okay" but okay enough to try and compete with Monday Night Football.

SERIOUSLY?

This is a Monday Night Raw which has two interesting things right now: Bray Wyatt vs Chris Jericho in a Steel Cage. Basically a PPV quality match on a Raw. THAT'S more like the things that will keep viewers or attract viewers. And, a bit less so, but still okay is Reigns vs Orton SummerSlam rematch. But that's IT! No Brock Lesnar and Cena's not a draw for anyone who isn't already a Cena fan so I have to laugh at what Vince is approving to fill in his 3 hour Raw.

So, with this Springer segment booked, what I right now am fantasizing about seeing as a true 'MUST-WATCH' moment, something Vince and WWE would HATE but it would send a gigantic message would be this:

The fans at Raw, during this segment, not only are dead silent but actually a large portion of them on the camera side get up and go to the washroom! Oh hell, that would be a beautiful sight to see.

It would show Vince that he's SERIOUSLY losing touch in some areas. It's not that the fans don't like some of the things going on in WWE but I hope they can send a message that would probably make mainstream news: "Fans visibly leave the stands during terrible Raw segment."

That headline would cause Vince and the WWE to SERIOUSLY step up their game IMMEDIATELY and CONSISTENTLY because they would so hate that mainstream news that they had such a horrendous segment.

I won't even watch the segment but I will read the recaps and see if anything like that happened.

At the very least, there should either be many "BORING" chants and/or long-lasting, cricket-chirping silence from the crowd.

I was going to say, wow not one person likes this angle but then I looked and realized Brain hasn't come in and cut a "leave brittney alone" type post on the divas.

Anyway, this sucks, this whole feud sucks, I stopped caring a while ago. In fact I am not even sure I cared to begin with. If it was anyone other than Brie, well I shouldn't say ANYONE, but a diva that is actually interesting instead of someone who is married to a top star, I might be a little more interested.

Also the fact that Stephanie just up and won at Summerslam with no issue whatsoever and pretty much dropped off from this makes the last few months look completely useless. Not to mention the RAW's they both closed.

Oh well. We will just throw this in the big pile of what the fuck were WWE thinking along with the Nexus, Summer of Punk, Miz as WWE champion etc.

The ratings are going to plummet because of MNF. The real question will be the minute-to-minute ratings. If people start disappearing during the Bella's segment, then VKM will pull the plug. If the ratings REALLY fall off, expect some real discussions in the back.

Huge overreaction as always by the kneejerkers here on Wrestlezone. It will be awful and it will last 10 minutes. Get over it. It may be funny in some way and it may just be sad. If this whole angle flops the way that it seems like it will that will be a good thing for us as fans. I don't mind having some of the ladies be wrestlers (AJ, Paige, Natty) and some be divas (bellas, eva, rosa) but when someone fails then it leaves room for someone to move up. This segment will be no worse than a lot of the other stuff we've had to deal with in our time as fans.

As for how I hope this effects the diva's division: I hope it shows them that people don't care about the Bella's as anything more than performers that get their 5-8 minute segment each week, either backstage or in a short match. Summer Rae is the real talent in the company as far as a diva goes because she's gorgeous, above average in the ring, and has charisma. They already have the anti-diva's in place in AJ and Paige so it would be nice to have the BFFs running the diva's division on raw with AJ and Paige chasing. Women's fighting/wrestling can sell, WWE just hasn't figured out how to make it work consistently.

So you weren't around during Katie Vick?

Now that was embarrassing.

For those that don't know/chose to forget, HHH cut a promo claiming that Kane was a murderer. Kane revealed the next week that Katie Vick was his girlfriend, with whom he was in a drunk driving accident with after a night of boozing. Kane was uninjured, Katie died.

HHH did another promo where he went to a funeral home, wearing a Kane mask, and had sex with the "corpse" of Katie Vick (which was actually a dummy in a cheerleader outfit laying in a casket).

Kane responded with the inamous "enema promo" where Kane was shown at a doctor's office, getting an enema, while wearing various cardboard cutouts of HHH's face.

I think the blowoff was a casket match where HBK interfered to start his feud with HHH, but the Katie Vick saga was definitley one of the worst things WWE has ever done.

That being said, this Bellas thing, while slightly (and I emphasize slightly) less silly than Katie Vick, has the potential to really fall apart on RAW next week.

Yet another fine example of Vince & Co. not giving two shits about what the fans what to see. It's become commonplace to see these things week after week. Why would any of you be surprised?

The funniest thing is, after the whole iced-coffie-vomitorium thing, Springer's gonna have to work kinda hard to make this the most tasteless Raw segment in the last few months.

Jerry Springer is beyond washed up and outdated, and I'm sure it'll be terrible, but Springer and The Bellas should work in front of a live crowd. More degrading insults from Nikki, hair pulling, cat fight style brawls, and "JERRY!" chants, with security guards trying to separate Nikki and Brie. I highly doubt it'll be something to remember, and WWE will overhype this to no end, but the Springer segment will serve its purpose as footage in a video package for the inevitable one on one match up, and another segment to further the feud.
