Rate the unpredictability of this year's Royal Rumble

I'm gonna give the Royal Rumble a 6/10 for unpredictability. This is because everyone who visits wrestlezone.com knew that Edge was going to come back -1. But I also thought HHH would win so +2. Aso a -1 for HBK eliminating HHH. I also thought that was going to happen. A huge +4 for Beth Phoenix entering loved it when she eliminated khali so an extra +1 for that. Edge winning was a huge shocker too so +4 for that.

The ECW Title Match was waaaaaaaaaaayyy TOO predictable so -1. WWE needed to push Jackson but they sadly didn't. He needed to win against Christian to get it.

The Womens Title Match was easy to predict too. Going off topic for a sec to say WWE needs to quit it with the "Piggie James" crap . I mean enough is enough. Back to the real topic now. Everyone knew she was going to win to end their dumb feud so a -1 also a -1/2 because i knew the cake was gonna get smashed in their faces. :disappointed:

The U.S. Title Match was one of the best matches of the night. Just wished Miz got the clean win instead of another roll-up. So a +2.

WWE Title Match was the 2nd most predictable. Legacy breakdown the most predictable part -3. That was looooong overdue. Also because it was Heel vs. Heel everyone knew Orton would lose so -1. The attack by Orton...predictable -1. However the boot by Sheamus I didn't see coming +2. The "RKO" chant was suprising too +1.

The WHC Match. All I can say is the most predictable. They need to either give him the Title or don't have him in the match at all. Because we know they will not give him the title 90% of the time. -3

Well thats it for me.

All in all, there weren't all that many surprises that came about but I did enjoy the ones that did happen. I didn't think Legacy would have a full blown implosion last night because I figured that it would be saved for Raw tonight, though the fallout will be interesting to see. I expected some sort of interference in the Taker/Mysterio match but, I'm kind of glad it didn't happen. It was a fun match, Taker got the clean pin and it's going to be interesting to see how they're going to set things up for Taker/HBK II at WrestleMania.

As far as the Rumble match itself went, I was surprised to see Punk out there doing his thing during the match. I thought it was great, though I wish he wouldn't have gotten eliminated quite so soon by Triple H. I'm really enjoying what Punk is doing right now and while it would have been nice to see Punk stay in the Rumble longer, it's just going to make DX's fall harder when they drop the tag titles and go their seperate ways. Speaking of Triple H, I'm so glad he didn't win last night. I was surprised to see HBK be the one to eliminate him with Sweet Chin Music. From what I'd read earlier yesterday, the plan was to have Triple H win the Rumble and go after Sheamus at WM and I wasn't overly thrilled with that idea as I have a feeling it'd wind up with Triple H getting yet another WWE title run. Beth Pheonix coming out was surprising, though kind of pointless overall really. Still, it was kind of unique having a woman come out to the Rumble. Seeing Edge was a great surprise, it's nice to see him back though I wasn't sure he'd win the Rumble though I'm glad he did as it leaves us wondering exactly what's gonna happen with WWE's plans for Cena, Triple H and HBK for WM and how they're going to come about.

I thought it was extremely predictable, and everyone I thought would win their respective matches, did. I also thought it was very poorly put together, which was also predictable.

If there was one PPV I would actually buy, and only one, it would be the Royal Rumble. It's always been my favorite. But my gut feeling was that I was not going to get $50 worth of entertainment, and I'm really glad I didn't hit the buy button. $20, would have done it in a second, but not $50. Not one single "OMG" moment in the bunch.

If there was one thing I didn't predict, it would be how awful the Royal Rumble match itself was. It was terrible! 2/3rd's of the guys entered average time in the match had to have been around a minute. Sure, CM Punk's little cutting promos in the ring was amusing, but had I bought a ticket, I would have been PISSED! 7 guys in and they had about 2 minutes of total wrestling! It's one thing to have less wrestling on Raw or Smackdown, but at the Royal Rumble, in the Royal Rumble match itself? No way that's what people spent their good money to see, CM Punk talking instead of the match itself. Vince is soooo big on giving the people what they advertised, but they really dropped the ball on that one. No matter who won the Rumble, that was gonna go down as one of the worst Rumbles ever.

This was the first Rumble match I have watched live since 2004. Watching it after you know the results does spoil it a lot, so I was really pleased by the unpredictability of the match itself. I had heard rumors for the past few weeks now that Edge was going to return so that was not the biggest shock for me (even though I did mark out when his music hit). What was a surprise was that had a list of the 25 “announced” wrestlers in the match that WWE.com had posted. I crossed them off as the match went off, so when it got down to the final 2 all that was left was Batista (obviously #30) and William Regal. When the clock started counting down I was just thinking “here comes Regal”, so when Edges music hit I did nearly start screaming. I thought that WWE were going to swerve us all by going “no Edge tonight, sorry.” From then I have to admit I had no clue who was going to win. Initially I thought that it was going to be HBK’s rumble, so when he went over I was shocked. When the final 3 were in the ring I did guess that Edge was favorite, but WWE could have given it to either Batista (to face Taker at WM) or Cena (to face Sheamus at WM). Edge on the other hand has no one to challenge apart from Jericho. Now going into Raw tonight and SmackDown we have a lot of fallout to deal with from the Rumble.

1. First of all Bret is going to be at Raw tonight. I think that this storyline has been brilliant so far. Vince has been great the past 2 weeks with his “Bret is never coming back” promos, so now we get the comeback from Hart.

2. What happens with DX? Yes its everyman for himself but it was awesome when HBK superkicked Triple H over the top. What if they have a title match tonight, they lose because of HBK being distracted by Undertaker’s lights/blackout, break DX up after by turning HHH heel and go on and challenge HBK to a retirement match at WM? “You lost your chance at Taker Shawn and you screwed me in the process, so now I want your career!!!” It could happen. HBK/Taker 2 is nowhere near guaranteed right now, so maybe WWE want to do something different.

3. Is Legacy now over? Does Orton go nuts and beat the crap out of Rhodes and DiBiase again, thus turning them face? Does he challenge them to matches at EC and Mania?

4. What happens with Edge now? Does he appear tonight or do they wait until SmackDown? Who is he going to face? Does Jericho challenge him to a #1 contender match at EC?

5. What about Cena too? They’ve not done a lot with him for the past few weeks, so where does he fit into Mania? The rematch with Batista is the only thing I can see happening.

The only thing I can see happening is on SmackDown is Taker, Batista and Rey and maybe CM Punk and Jericho being announced for the World title match at EC (assuming it will be the same as the past couple of years.) On the Raw front I would love to see Kingston, Miz and MVP in the WWE title match. But that more the likely means that HHH/HBK/Orton/Cena won’t be involved, so it’s doubtful.

I’ve been a fan of WWF/E and wrestling as a whole for nearly 10 years, and the past month has been excellent in my opinion. The best in a number of years. I don’t think I’ve watched a Raw or SmackDown this year and not been entertained. Vince doing his best to be the most hated boss in the world again, CM Punk and the Straight Edge Society, Jericho being Jericho, and the little things like Miz and MVP promos. Even Hornswoggle isn’t bothering me that much anymore and that is saying something.

Well I will be honest, After CM Punk was eliminated I didn't want to watch the rest of the show. lol but it was funny. I still had some hope thinking that Luke Gallows was in the RR and that Punk would asked him for his spot. Gallows gives it to him because of his devotion. Punk re enters, and goes on to win the whole thing. AWESOME!!!:) But it didn't happen.. :banghead:

I also made It plan and clear to my friends in the room that I did not want to see any of the same old main event people win. HBK, HHH, CENA, and Batista didn't need the win. I wanted to see somebody who is on the verge of breaking out in the ME to win. Somebody like Punk, Kofi, Miz, or Swagger.

What made it Predictable?

THE CAMRA ANGLES.
The cameras angles told you who was coming out way to early. Most notably was right before Edge came out. The camera man positions his camera on Jericho looking at the entrance ramp way to early. It was like 5 seconds until Edges music hits. This happened a couple of times. I think they did it to Drew McIntyre right before Morrison came out.

2.HBK.
I knew how this whole thing was going to play out after HBK made his way into the rumble and eliminated all the mid carders/ future main event. on a side not, WHAT A SLAP IN THEIR FACES!! LOL! Once again a old guy holding them back? maybe! Once again making them look like crap? Yes he did. However, I do understand the whole making us believe we will see Undertaker vs HBK II at WM, And HBK being the hyped up one to win the RR. After he eliminated all the young guys most people in the room I was in believed he would win it. I still had some hope that Kofi or maybe Swagger would pull of the big win. But new it was most likely going to go to Edge.

Number of wrestlers in the ring.
In the past RR they would fill that ring with so many wrestlers. It would lead you to believe that anyone of that at some point could win. This year people got eliminated way to fast. It made the whole thing predictable.

In all I would say, yes the RR was about 85% predictable. and I would give it a B-. but Edge wins it and can’t complain about that.

I was quite superised by many aspects of the royal rumble match- Beth Pheonix, R-truth eliminating Show and Henry, Triple H not winning or getting into the final ten or so.

also this rumble felt slightly different- in recent years its been quite common that the first two entrants are established stars- Mysterio, Taker, Triple H, Michaels etc. This year started off with Ziggler and Bourne. Just thought that was different.

Felt that they didnt do much in regards to putting over new talent. Morrison, Mcintyre, Swagger, Bourne, Tastu, Ziggler, Ryder, DiBiase and Rhodes all came and went and eliminated a combined total of 0 people. whereas Cena, Triple H and Michales alone eliminated 13 people- nearly half. now although some people may feel that number of eliminations or particular eliminator is irrelevant- i think it gives us an idea of the level wwe creative considers these superstars to be working at. Last night, none of the young guys broke through.- not good.

some of the most succesful rumbles are when we find ourseleves cheering on the underdog- how may have stayed in the contest for a long time. this draws popularity and gives them a push of sorts. the only one of the young guys who i felt really benefited from last night was R-truth eliminating Henry and Show- really took me by superise. And ironically, Mr Jobber Carlito who put on quite an impressive showing- without eliminating anybody.

Did anyone notice how fast last night went. Everyone seemed to just come and go and before you know it- Edge is the winner. Definetly feel they've changed the entry times- which not only made everything go so fast, it didnt give superstars time to establish themsleves in the match thus making many of them look weak. also you as a viewer are meant to live through the match so to speak- so when the winner is announced you fell like you've been on a grueling journey- this didnt really happen yesterday. I dont know whether this is true or not but it definetly felt faster to me watching at home.

I'd give it 7/10 for unpredictability. Beth Phoenix was the only surprise entrant, but I could have done with a few more to be honest with you. That being said, the winner was not very predictable, and those who say it was are liars. I saw no more than 5 people suppose it was Edge and the LD was full of people saying "Triple H is definitely going to win", eliminated; "Michaels will definitely win", eliminated; "It's Cena's now", Edge won; "I KNEW EDGE WOULD WIN, PREDICTABLE, PREDICTABLE!"

It's bollocks. Hats off to those that did guess it, but I think for the most part it was one of the most open matches in years, it just could have done with a couple of surprise entrants.
