Could this happen at the Royal Rumble?

Mr. All-in
I was watching WWE 5 things and #5 was the royal rumble and 2 men going over the top at the same time we all know 1. Both men receive a title shot. 2. Sudden death royal rumble between the last two competitors. BUT did they spoil the finish for #3? They can restart the entire rumble match.... think about this what if they had 40 man rumble at 1 minute intervals at the start of the show. We see the double elimination and then they restart the rumble at the end of the night it would be unprecedented and a unique spin because no one would expect the top guys 2 win a second time in one night what do you think? Is this the finish to the rumble?

It would also take too much time. The average WWE PPV takes just under 3 hours. The Rumble match itself is usually about an hour. To restart the entire Rumble would take up two hours of a three hour show. It would leave roughly 45 minutes for any combination of the IC, US, Tag, and World title. Its doable if they give each match ten minutes and don't have filler, but the average wrestling fan doesn't have the patience to sit through a two hour match, especially if half of it is essentially a replay.

I actually think it's a great idea. It won't happen, especially since they already announced it's 40 men, but there's a lot of fun stuff you could do with it. You could have something crazy happen in the first rumble that gets a bunch of guys "hurt" and then have your surprise entrants take their place in the second. You could build new feuds around them eliminating each other in different rumbles. And I agree, it could be a major star maker if the same two guys (or maybe three or four; if a whole group went out at the same time that could be the rationale for restarting the whole thing) lasted through a majority of both rumbles.

They used to do crazy innovative stuff at the Rumble that really got guys over, and it's been a while since they've pulled something like that off. Like I said, I don't think you'll see it, but the WWE needs to think like this.

The Royal Rumble is one of the big 4 PPVs. WWE needs at least 3 big matches on the card excluding the RR and as Yaz posted above, 2 Rumble matches would take up about 2/3 of the show. That leaves room for about 3 matches and the IC, US, and Tag Team Champions are not likely to be in those 3 matches. That's not good when you're trying to draw a big number. Also it would be tough seeing as there will probably be 5 "surprise" entrances, and it would be kind of stupid to see them all come out again later in the night. I for one personally find the RR match painful to watch until there's about 6 guys left. I don't want to go through 2.

I don't know how many wrestling fans can tell time but it sounds like there would be a lot of suspicions about what is going on when they start the Rumble with 2+ hours left in the show and they are down to the last two competitors with over an hour left. More realistic idea is to stick all 40 guys in the ring again at once and let them fight it out for like 15 minutes.

The set up for such a ridiculous decision though could come from The Authority not being happy with the final two in the ring (e.g. Bryan and Ambrose) and wanting to give their guys another chance.

Frankly though, the more battle royal Kofi, the better.

They should not restart the entire Rumble. That would make the work the eliminated wrestlers put in become meaningless and feel like a huge waste of everyone's time. This is something I would never want to see. If there is a tie then you either give them both title matches or have an authority figure walk out to announce that a #1 contendership match will take place immediately so that one definitive winner can be announced. Only one should go to Wrestlemania's World Heavyweight Championship match through the Rumble, this is the simplest solution if they do end up in a situation where simultaneous eliminations end the Rumble. Whoever loses the #1 contendership tie-breaker match can still get a title shot at Elimination Chamber or an upcoming edition of Raw.
