So Royal Rumble is gone now and road to wrestlemania has started. Edge had made his much awaited return and win the Rumble. This thread is not about how was Royal Rumble or how you felt when Edge won the Rumble.

Royal rumble is always an even with no prediction. Every year some unpredictable candidates make appearance in rumble. Guys like Cena,Mick foley,RVD,Undertaker, has surprised the whole world and made this event even more unpredictable. Last year HBK turned on JBL and superkicked him and the even superkicked Cena. This year too everyone was expecting some huge surprises. I was expecting Edge to return ofcourse but i was not expecting him to win the Rumble. I thought he would come and eliminate Jericho and then eliminate himself to beat Jericho. I perfectly predicted Orton's face turn at the very moment when he became number one contender for the wwe tittle. For me the nigest surprise was HHH got eliminated by HBK. That was huge. I thought HHH would be in atleast last 3 participent as he was in last 2-3 rumbles.

Ok now i want to know what you guys thought, Did any of you predict that Orton will turn face? Did any of you expect Edge to win the Rumble? or any of you surprised when Taker beat Mysterio (well i was pretty sure that he will).

So how would you guys rate the unpredictability in Royal Rumble? and what were you predictions ?

Ummm, I agree to a point at it being unpredictable, but there have definitely been Rumbles in which they could have just told us the winner and saved us an hour....Rey Mysterio winning is the best example, you could have seen that from a mile away, same goes for Orton last year, Batista, and Chris Benoit...just come out, say the person is the #1 contender, and don't make us waste the money to see who wins. But yeah, it was a surprise to see Edge win and return. Same goes for Cena in 08. Personally, I am not a big Cena fan, but I know I didn't expect him to return and win.

I was really big on Beth Phoenix competing in the Rumble and holding her own against CM Punk. She is simply too talented to be wasting her time in the Divas division, when she can easily compete with the big boys. She's the second coming of Chyna. Only a lot more beautiful. Here's hoping she gets a us or i-c title run soon.

I wasn't expecting the outcome for this ppv as i do for some of them like with the Shemus and Orton match i kinda figured Shemus would have won via DQ and Orton would get pissed at legacy and with the Rey/Taker match i mean i know rey is the underdog and people were pulling for him to win but comeon a lot of bigger guys have fallen because of the deadman but no the biggest suprise of the night was that HBK didn't win the Rumble match and become the 2nd person in WWE history to win 3 rumble matches. I mean they were throwing hints at a possible rematch between Undertaker and Shawn at WrestleMania but now that Edge has won it. I don't think anybody has a clue which title he is going after because he has no beer with Shemus or Undertaker unless Jericho wins the world title at the next ppv before Mania other then that i am gonna get ready and enjoy this road to WrestleMania

Your wrong about the Orton being a face part.
The crowd (and I) cheer him but it doesn't make him a face.
And about the rumble, when it was down to the last 3 i knew Edge was going to win.
It didn't make sense for Cena or Batista to win if they were facing off at Mania.
I saw Cena eliminating Batista then Dave getting mad and challenging Cena at WM 26.
Cena-Taker would have been nice though.xp
But by the last 3-4 people, you can tell whos going where.

I, actually, thought the PPV was very predictable and a bit boring. The first match was okay, but, I expect that from ECW match. Then it was downhill from there. Randy Orton vs. Shamus was boring. I think it's because Randy Orton'c character is very sly and almost relies on the opponent to draw out that evil he has and Shamus didn't cut it.He might as well put Orton in a headlock for 10 minutes. Maybe it's his lack of personality that killed it for me. The match, also, didn't tell a good story. The Legacy thing was predictable, it's been on the net for months. Rey Jr vs Undertaker was a bit disappointing ass well. Both of them seemed shot. Rey used to be such a fast mover in the ring, Undertaker was the Phenom. You can tell these two are not even close to 100%. The other matches (Diva, Miz vs. MVP) seemed like they were placed to fill in time...WWE-wise, these days, is not predictable. I was waiting for a commercial break. Then the Rumble happened. Did anyone notice that, pre-Rumble, they showed video clips of Rumbles past...and the ring was filled with wrestlers. Action everywhere. This Rumble, and I counted, did not have one momemnt where there was more than 4 wrestlers in the ring at once. It was like watching a continuing one on one match. Evem when there was four people, two were on the ground...or one was on the ground and one was being teamed up on. Edge's return, once again, was all over the net prior to the event. And Edge looked horrible...like he was on a six month crack bender. His win made sense, right off of a big return...similar to Cena. They kept talking about Kane being in the Rumble 12 times, but he never won. That makes him 0-12. Maybe that's the gimmick...Undertaker has a high win steak at Wrestlemania and kane has a high loss record at Royal Rumble. I really came into the PPV with high expectations (it's the Road to Wrestlemania) and it fell short due to it's predictablilty and lack of excitement. But, that's just my opinion. Thanks.

It's also pretty obvious what will happen at NWO. Shawn will intentionally cost Taker the title so they can face off at WM. I don't see why they would hint at a rematch so heavily if there isn't going to be a payoff. Taker will probably lose it to Jericho so Edge can fight Jericho for the title AND get his revenge, but thats thinking logically which isn't a defining quality of WWE's booking.

Only having read the WZ results i cant comment too much yet, i will get to see the ppv in a coupla days - no cable. But the biggest shock re the rumble match is the fact that Khali (0), Kane (1) and Big Show (1) eliminated 2 people between them.. thats just weird. Show and Kane have dominated segments of Battle Royals/RRs in the past, n Khali's only role was what? scare CM Punk n get kissed... and eliminated by a 1st timer woman. 12 rumbles n no win 4 Kane, Shows never won one either... maybe one day we might see a return to when Andre dominated Battle Royals, heck the only BIG guy to win recently was taker i think. Anyone else wanna see a Legit superheavyweight win the RR next year?

Im sorry but everything up there you said was correct and I agree with 9/10 of them. But I honestly have to disagree with Cena vs Undertaker. With the way Cena's built up as no one can beat him. I could see Vince pulling in a bunch of money for Cena beating the deadman. But I this should probably be in another thread.

This year's royal rumble was very entertaining, as always. It really helps build up to 'mania. I was just thinking... TNA needs something like a royal rumble to help build anticipation to Bound for Glory. Would have started a new thread for this topic but couldn't for some reason. Anyway how should TNA do a rumble style match? The same as WWE? More entries? What do you guys think?

I think the unpredictability of the Rumble was there, but there could've been more. I would have loved to see more unexpected faces come out. Seeing Edge and Beth was cool, but seeing a couple more would've been sweet. Maybe one of the past guest hosts could've come out, or freaking Ricky Steamboat, or RVD could've done it again like last year. There were 24 confirmed entrants in the Royal Rumble. That left 6 spots. They could have filled that spot with other unexpected guests.

Other than that, with Edge winning, the unpredictability factor was still in bloom at the Royal Rumble.

The only surprise was Beth Phoenix. I did not see her coming, I figured it would of been HHH to come out and take Khali out before taking Punk out. Instead from what i read (Stream died for a moment) Beth eliminated Khali, Punk eliminated Her, Oh Radio went in and out and HHH and took Punk out. I MTFO when HBK took HHH out. I MTFO when Batista took HBK out, I MTFO when Cena go rid of Batista then I MTFO that Edge beat Cena. I was surprised Edge was #29 as well, figured he would be #30 but i guess they didn't want #30 winning 3/4 past years.

I do think the Rumble suffered as allot of people were taken out really fast and not many last more then 10 minutes.

Pleasantly surprised with the PPV.

Taker over Rey was no biggy. If Taker is supposed to go against HBK at Mania why have Taker lose the belt cleanly to little underdog REY? Taker had to look dominant heading into Mania

Sheamus over Orton i expected because i had been reading on every Wrestling site out there that HHH would win and challenge Sheamus. Better match than i thought it would be. Wonder where LEGACY goes now?

Womans match i went out and had a ciggerette break and it was ending when i came back..It served its purpose

Christian over Zeke was a no brainer. I think Zeke has a future. His time just isnt right now.

The rumble match it self had many things about it i like. HBK playing and obsessed mad man trying to get to Taker is great. The way Beth took out Khali was neat. HHH not being one of the final four left made my night. I hate HHH. Unpredictability is what Rumble should be all about. I was definitely satisfied with Rumble. Thank you WWE.. Good PPV start for 2010

YES. This is why Royal Rumble and Wrestlemania are my favourite PPV's. Wrestlemania is where it all comes to together and RR is ALWAYS unpredictable. The first match was ok but we all knew who was gonna win. The United States Championship match was the same. I just had a feeling MVP was gonna lose. The World Title match was crap. We knew taker was gonna win and he did. wow. The worst match was Orton vs Sheamus. I was looking forward to this match but it didnt turn out good at all. Orton was all stomping and Sheamus was doing his boring moves. Then Cody Rhodes with his infinite stupidity attacks Shemus while the ref was looking. Dumbass. The divas match was good. I loved how Mickie just came in and DDT'd Michelle straight away. By the way Mickie is my favourite diva. I loved the Rumble match. Unpredictable as always. It didnt last as long as I thought it would. I was shocked to see Beth come out and eliminate Khali. Go Beth, the divas are doing something important for once. I was disapointed to see that the "mystery opponents" were regular people from the roster. I thought like someone else commented that Ricky Steamboat would come back. As soon as the 6 mystery entrants all came out i thought that Edge wouldn't be coming (BTW Edge is my favourite wrestler). Now when I heard his music playing I started screaming soooooo loud. I was really sad when HBK got eliminated because I love him just as much as Edge, but Im still glad Edge pulled it off for the first time. When it came down to Cena and Edge i felt that breeze of confidence and when he eliminated Cena (my least favourite wrestler, HOW COOL IS THAT!) I screamed even more and was so happy that he was finally back. So yeah to me the RR never disapoints

I liked the rumble. Now, this may be just me, but did anyone else find that spot where HBK got eliminated to be a bit awkward? Here's how it played out from my point of view. HBK lost his grip on the ropes and Batista saw it. In fact, if you look closely, you can see Batista start to reach for Shawn's wrist. After that, the scene just stopped and Batista had a very shocked look on his face. Shawn's reaction looked surprised too, but that's understandable. Batista just hung on those ropes for a long time and the spot just looked weird. I don't know if that was planned or not, but it looked weird.

Other than that good rumble, not great, but good. Nice to see Edge back as always.

I personally thought this was one of the worst RR I've seen in a while. I watched it with two of my good wrestling friends and we all agreed that it was boring and totally predictable:

Christian vs. Zeke:
It was ok, was a bit longer than I thought it would. Zeke is a monster and Christian took a lot of bumps, but knew he would win.

MVP vs. Miz:
I thought it was already on the PPV, but apparently, it wasn't. Crappy ending. I like the Miz, I hate MVP.

Divas Match: Thank goodness they can put the Piggie James thing to rest.. the match was shorter then the time it took me to type this.

Sheamus vs. Orton:
this match was boring. Lot of slowdown during this match. We predicted Legacy would screw this up and they did.

Taker vs. Rey
I love when little guys get wrecked by big guys (Like Spike Dudley vs. Mike Awesome... favorite...match... ever....). I was waiting for Taker to throw Rey into the 5th row. No shocker here

Rumble:
This was the worst Rumble. The most guys in the Rumble at any one time was 7. CM Punk was pretty cool how he was talking and eliminating guys, but we knew that someone big would come in early and end it. I knew Edge would be in it as it was rumored all over the internet. Best spot was Beth Phoenix taking the GTS. She's a better seller than half the males on the roster.

I give the PPV a C-.
I can't believe there wasn't a IC match.

My question is:
What's the card for Wrestlemania gonna look like?

I wasnt surprised with Edge winning the Rumble. I knew that if he showed up, he would win. They did the same thing with Cena a couple years back. I knew it once Edge eliminated Y2J. He was either gonna do a double elimination like with the Miz and MVP, or he was gonna eliminate Jericho and go on to win.
Although, I was a little surprised that HHH didnt last until the last person came out...that was a bit unusual. Also, when HBK was eliminated, I thought he just flat out screwed up. The look on both Shawns and Batista's face led me to believe the HBK was supposed to win, and just slipped off the ropes, completely screwing up the storyline........but then Michaels superkicked a ref, and it became pretty obvious it was a work. As for the other matches, I unfortunatly didnt see them cuz all of the online streams kept screwing up, although I've heard mixed reactions, from what I caught, most were fairly good, and the crowd sounded into every match the whole night.

I don't think that Shawn vs Taker is a gimme at Wrestlemania. In fact I don't think it should be. There is no way that those 2 can top last year's match. That was the best match that I have ever seen. unless they make it another HIAC match (and I don't think they will) I just don't see it happening.

I was marking out when Beth came down the ramp... and when she eliminated Khali, that was even better.

Beth is the new Chyna, only she's full woman and doesn't have a Red Light District tape out >_>

And another surprise about this Rumble, was that it had nobody make a special return. Not even someone as simple as Hardcore Holly. I mean, to me, the best part of the RR match is seeing which legends are going to return. I was really looking forward to seeing Booker T in the rumble.

They can site me for flaming or whatever but this is the exact reason why I can hardly look at these boards. When you have morons like this posting it just ruins it for everybody. I don't even know where to start. At first I thought it was tongue in cheek and it was just some heavy sarcasm but I am confident that this person feels that Beth Phoenix should be wrestling the guys, I wish Punk would have just crushed her face with the GTS and this guy could use a face crushing as well. You are an idiot.

Can't anyone remember how awful Chyna was as a wrestler against the guys. The matches were just terrible. Women should not be made to look as strong as men when it comes to wrestling. If she was to be a manager and use that strength to help her man, I'm all for it. It's not even being sexist, it just looks ridiculous.

Unpredictability is the beauty of the Royal Rumble match itself. In the words of Forrest Gump "Life is like a box of chocolates because you never know what you're gonna get." This saying is pretty relevant to the Royal Rumble match because we never know who will be coming out next, and who will win the rumble overall. I was shocked and glad to see Edge win the Rumble last night. I knew Edge would be making a comeback, but I didn't think it would be that soon. Plus the WWE, even several IWC boards to my surprise kept Edge's return on the down-low. Plus I think Edge winning the rumble by surprise really keeps to his "Ultimate Opportunist" nickname.

Okay this years rumble was good for story line purposes. No one got squashed that wasnt in the gutter already. Matt hardys elimination by kane was intresting because him getting squashed proves wwe dosnt care about him, but im thinking the spot where he was knocked off the top rope jumping was reserved for helms if he was in the rumble. Miz and MVP in the rumble was done perffectly. Shades of Farooq and ahamed Johnson in i think 96 or 97, they just furthered that fued into the first legitamate one in a while. I been wanting to see beth in a rumble for years. She did great in the rumble. She showed she could kick cm punks ass and i think that this is just the start of her fighting in the mens division cause she showed she can handle her own in the ring. I didn't like how punk's elimination wasn't more signifficant. Since he controlled the rumble for like the first 10 minuites the least you can do is make a deal of his elimination. I was watching the rumble and I didn't even notice he had been tossed over the top rope till a few minuites after wondering where is CM Punk. As the winner goes I was not expecting that. I was gearing for the rumble that shawn will win since taker has the title and they will face off as planned at wm. But to think about it takers been with the title for longer then he can handle and needs a break and wont loose at wm so I think the title will be taken off his waist so he can take a few months off and beat hbk at wm. Who would of thought edge vs jericho will main event wm, SO HAPPY, even if they both been around the title allot, the match will be origional and features two people who are not dead in the ring like taker or batista have been lately.

The Rumble last night was about 90% predictable and about 99% awful. Undercard matches. Boring and predictable. Edge returning. Predictable. HBK getting eliminated. Predictable. HBK throwing a hissy hit when he got eliminated. Predictable. But how about Charles Robinson selling that superkick? I didn't know he had that in him.

I'd be lying if I said Edge was 100% going to win the Rumble when he came out. So mark that one down for something I didn't predcit. But when it came down to him, Cena, and Big Dave, I knew it was a great possibility that Edge would win. Batista is garbage and Cena just simply doesn't need a Rumble victory.

Something else I didn't predict was how bad the Rumble was gonna be. The Rumble match itself seemed like it was put together while the undercard was going on. Over half the field just came in and hit a signature move or two and then got dumped. This led to there not being a big buildup of superstars in the ring at once, which has been a staple of almost every Rumble in the past and a part of the match I've always enjoyed. Another Rumble "cliche" I've always enjoyed but was missing this year was that upper-mid card guy who wrestles a great match, lasts a long time in the match and gets some quality eliminations. Even though traditionally this person doesn't win the Rumble, they receive a rub thanks to their great Rumble performance. If you wanted it to be a face...you got Kofi or Johnny Mo. Heel...you got CM Punk. There's plenty of other names too, but instead we got nobody. In terms of story telling, it seemed like no one even served a purpose other than DX. Sure, the weeks leading up to the PPV had all the top superstars like Cena, Batista, Big Show, etc. promising victory in the Royal Rumble. Isn't that the story every year? CM Punk had a little something going to start the Rumble until he was made into a total after thought when HHH tossed him out almost as soon as he got in there. This brought the Rumble to a screeching halt IMO. Sure the WWE Universe popped when Cena, HBK, and all of their other faves came thru the curtain but that was about it.

In closing, the Royal Rumble 2010 was extremely predictable and this may come as extra disappointing for some considering the WWE did a pretty nice job keeping PPVs unpredictable in 2009.

Reactions: TLC
Personally, there was nothing that suprised me from last night's event. It seemed to be pulled stright from my mind, almost even down to the seeding of the actual RR.
Like others have said, the Legacy break-up has been a LONG time coming, and once I knew Orton was going mono-y-mono with Sheamus, I knew it was the time for the Legacy breakdown.
The Women's Title was nothing but predictable. I didn't see a match actually coming of it, I personally think Mickie James is 10x the wrestler McCool is. It seemed to be placed there to fill a bit of time.
The ECW match... Again, WAY too predictable. Big Zeke isn't getting the hype that they're pushing for, and I think for him to get it, he NEEDED to beat Christian last night, to get a big heel push.
WWE HMC: Come on... Really? People think that Rey stood half a chance? We saw how they treated Rey the last time he was the HW champ... I know a lot of people (kids) push for Rey, but, it's nothing short of a long shot.
Now for the Royal Rumble...
Sadly, the part that I didn't see coming... Was Beth Pheonix being an enterant. I think she took the place of "The Hurricane", but... Who knows. But when I saw the promo poster with Edge on the front, I knew he was going to be #27~#30, and he was going to win. It's the same push they gave him the last time he came back from an injury. (i.e. Coming back and winning the championship out of nowhere)

Sadly... The night was too predictable, and quite disappointing.

Well... I almost forgot The Miz and MVP. I have a big love-hate relationship with the Miz... I hate that I love him. After last night, he was getting slightly worked over, and again wins by some random roll-up. I think the WWE needs to allow Miz some time in the ring to develop his skills. If his skills resembled Kofi... or maybe even Morrison (As much as I hate to pit those two together...) he'd be a destined champion.

Well, that's my thoughts... And my first post.
