Puro fans, UNITE!

Financially NJPW has been a wreck for a while now and supposedly has been losing money like crazy. Not as bad as NOAH but still losing a decent amount like most of the current puro companies. Bushiroad Inc. bought them for roughly $7 million. The CEO of Bushiroad is also a huge fan of pro wrestling and during a press confrence said one of his main goals was to "topple/overthrow WWE." They are also looking at expanding their market outside of Japan which isn't a bad idea at all.

SMASH has just reported that it will be closing down. SMASH which is currently owned by Tajiri will be closing down on March 14th. I'm really sad to hear this as I really enjoyed watching SMASH and thought they were a ton of fun. Also, It's been reported that King Fale just wrestled his last match in NJPW for a while as he will be embarking in an overseas expedition. This really doen't mean for NJPW as King Fale is pretty mediocre.
 
Today was NJPw New Beginning and here's the results
1. Yujiro Takahashi & YOSHI-HASHI defeated Tomoaki Honma & King Fale (7:51)
2. Toru Yano, Takashi Iizuka & Tomohiro Ishii defeated Jushin Thunder Liger, Tama Tonga & Captain New Japan (8:35)
3.IWGP Jr. Tag Match: Davey Richards & Rocky Romero defeated Prince Devitt & Ryusuke Taguchi (c) (15:10)
4. Minorou Suzuki, Yoshihiro Takayama, Lance Archer, TAKA Michinokou & Taichi defeated Togi Makabe, Yuji Nagata, Wataru Inuoue, Tiger Mask IV & KUSHIDA in an Elimination Tag Match. (23:08)
5. IWGP Tag Match: Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima (c) defeated Giant Bernard & Karl Anderson (17:47)
6. IWGP Intercontinental Championship Match: Hirooki Goto defeated Masato Tanaka (c) (13:26)
7. Tetsuya Naito defeated Shinsuke Nakamura (17:38)
8. IWGP Heavyweight Championship Match: Kazuchika Okada defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi (23:22) Afterwards Tetsuya Naito came out and challenged Kazuchika Okada.

I cannot believe that Davey Richards and Rocky Romero have already won their titles back this quickly. Also, I'm super excited that Hirooki goto won the Intercontinental Championship. Also, I cannot believe Okada won the Heavyweight title and am really hope he loses the title to Tetsuya Naito.
 
The following matches have been announced for NJPW. On 3/4/12 Kazuchika Okada (c) will face Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. On 3/10/12 Prince Devitt (c) will face Davey Richards for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship. On 3/11/12 Hirooki Goto (c) will face Yujiro Takahashi for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. Then on 3/18/12 Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima (c) will face Yoshihiro Takayama & Lance Archer for the IWGP Tag Team Championships.
 
SO MUCH PURO TO CATCH UP ON. The stack is too big. But Davey vs Devitt for the Jr title this March sounds sexy.
 
So Akebono is now in NJPW and I've been watching a lot of FMW and WAR lately and I was wondering what you guys thought of those two promotions?
 
I used to really be in puro back in the day. I would watch the Super J Cups religiously on VHS.

Great Sasuke is my all time favorite. I remember him and Benoit in the finals in one of those J Cups. Great fucking match.
 
New Japan has announced the first round match ups for the New Japan Cup. It will be La Sombra vs YOSHI-HASHI. Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs Karl Anderson. Hirooki Goto vs Yujiro Takahashi. MVP vs Shinsuke Nakamura. Togi Makabe vs Lance Archer. Yuji Nagata vs Minoru Suzuki. Satoshi Kojima vs Tetsuya Naito. And finally Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Toru Yano. All of these match ups will take place 4/1/12. The Final will take place on 4/8/12.
 
MVP vs Nakamura has potential. I like what MVP does in NJ. Kojima vs Naito is probably the best of the lot on paper, although Nagata/Suzuki looks sexy too.

Youtube their G1 match. Nakamura made MVP look amazing. Still his best match ever in my opinion.
 
So I just watched the Okada vs Naito match for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and man did I enjoy it. I totally did not expect that type of a match from these two. The crowd was really into it as well and Okada's selling of the knee was great. I really suggest watching this match and I've gained a lot of respect for Okada after it. I still wish Naito would of won though...

Who is your favorite gaijin wrestler? Kenny Omega

What's your favorite match? I saw a match on youtube with CIMA and Yoshino it was very good. CM has a great move set and Yoshino is so fast.
