Paul Bearer Passed Away

I would imagine a lot of wrestlers are walking around with heavy hearts today considering the sheer amount of workers that Moody has managed or mentored over the years. He's one of my all-time favorite heel managers for his ability to irritate the hell out of a crowd with his mannerisms and his voice. He's right up there with Heenan, Cornette, and Hart in terms of drawing heat for his guys and himself.

Poor Paul Bearer he died unexpectedly. Got
A feeling it was a heart attack that did him in. Poor man will now get mocked by Punk who say " Mark you may have the streak at WM but just like your friend Will your streak will die" all the IWC will go what great emotion by Punk And thats why he's the best. He steals Kevin Nash and HBK idea of talking to the insiders instead of the mainstream fan.

I think they will make it clear to Punk that he CANNOT mention anything about Paul Bearer's death, during his promos. Even if Undertaker is okay with it, I can't see WWE allowing it given how well-respected and influencial Paul Bearer/Moody was. Although, it might have been what he wanted, especially to further a storyline with Undertaker.

William and I had something interesting (for me) in common.

We were generations apart, but we were both stationed at Keesler AFB as our first permanent stations for the Air Force.

Some retirees remembered him, they told me that I looked a lot like him.

I tried talking to him at an airport in Tampa, I was pretty much some random weirdo spouting nonsense about what we had in common and he flat out ignored me. I honestly applaud him for doing that, it taught me about respect.

See you in the otherside wingman.

a very underrated manager.was a part of the birth of 2 future hall of famers-Kane and the Undertaker.wouldve loved to seen him at one more Wrestlemania.

As much as I wanted Punk to end the streak, this passing now makes me want Taker to win just one more for the big guy and have the win dedicated to his manager and friend.

I don't see why they wouldn't use this in the storyline. They mentioned Eddie Guerrero's death after it happened. Jerry Lawlor's mom was used to. It's the nature of the business. I'm sure Paul, just like Eddie, would have wanted this to be part of, what should be, an excellent aspect to add to the storyline. Plus Paul Bearer was old school. When kayfabe was used outside of the ring more than it is now. It'd be a great way to elevate Punk's heel status.

To me, it's not disrespectful. It gives Taker the ability to continue to push Bearer's legacy just a little longer.

A real sad news for every pro wrestling fan. Paul Bearer has always been one of my favorite manager. I can't imagine anyone else managing Taker or Kane.

RIP

I supposed this is something I should be used to. Wrestlers die all the time, some we've heard of, some we pretend to have heard of and others we love. Paul Bearer is definitely someone in that latter category.

I can remember the first time I saw the Undertaker I was about five or six and I was terrified. What won me over was the fat man who held his power.

I remember the Royal Rumble in 1994, aged 8 and the grave injustice that happened. Yet Paul Bearer reminded us that you can't beat the deadman. Outlandish entrances and the urn, to me Paul Bearer made the Undertaker.

I remember Kane's debut and the genuine shock of this, how could Bearer do this? Bearer made Kane.

I remember marking the fuck out to Mania XX when I heard the ooooooooooh yeeeeeeeeessssssss and he came out. Everything about that entrance is spot on "You're no son of mine".

His return in 2010 and sporadic appearances afterwards. He was a man who loved the business yet was humble. I had a couple of Twitter conversations with him including one about Regis and Kathy Lee.

I am saddened and I have been all day ever since Tastycles sent me a text this morning.

Thanks for the memories Paul Bearer, I know you'll be happy to see your wife again.

I saw Percy Pringle III at the CWF Hollywood tapings less than a month ago where he managed Shawn Ricker. He will be missed, and it will be odd to see myself on tv with him on KDOC-TV 56 this Saturday, as they do a month of tapings in advance.

This really saddens me yo! Paul Bearer had the ability to both scare me and make me laugh in the same promo! His epic stories with Kane, Taker, and Mankind are legendary! May God be with his family through this tough time.

P.S, WWE better NOT use this as a way for Punk to get heat. Regardless of what the family or Taker says, that is just wrong and should never be taken that far just to further a storyline.

Idea for tribute at mania....

Got a feeling that The Shield will try to interject themselves....that'll be the big threat to the streak

But team hell no helps taker win it...goatboy goes under the ring to pull out some sort of bag,It will be THE URN!!!

Kane & Taker go to one knee as danielson holds it up...as a tribute to Paul Bearer

I love me some Paul Bearer. For a long time, he was the only thing that kept me interested in The Undertaker. He was always energetic, and a lot of fun to watch, even as a heel. I had really hoped to see Paul Bearer one more time, with either Kane and Bryan or with The Undertaker. Sadly, that will never happen.

But, now's not the time to mourn his death. Now is the time to celebrate his career. Watch some old WWE matches with him at ringside. Watch some old promos of Paul Bearer. Go on YouTube, and find some Percy Pringle stuff to watch. Have fun watching them, because it always looked like he was having fun doing them.

(That said, I do need to respectfully disagree with something that a few people have said. While I will always be a fan of Paul Bearer, I can't say that he's the greatest manager of all time. That honor goes to Bobby Heenan.)

Very sad, I went on WWE.com the other day and just saw his picture and thought it was another article on him b/c taker just got his match announced then I saw the title and my jaw dropped. I grew up in the attitude era and he was one of my favorite managers of all time. I really hope the WWE decides to put him into the WWE HOF this year and have Taker induct him.

My prayers are with the Moody family! RIP

Does anyone think this now changes the outcome of the Punk/Taker match? I really think they wanted Punk to end it to finally ascend himself as a true superstar. But with all this happening, it makes me think they'll give Taker one more win.

Sad news, he was a great manager and really helped Kane and Undertaker with their careers. I wonder if WWE will pay tribute to him at all.

How do you think they will pay tribute to Paul Bearer? I would love it if at mania punk enters the ring as normal, the lights go out and you hear "oooohhhh yeesss" a spotlight shines down a single druid walks out holding the urn, then BONG out comes taker.

something has gotta be done as a tribute at mania cos i know they will do the usual screen shot on raw but to have the deadman pay tribute on the grandest stage of all would be perfect.

Maybe even a hologram of Bearer saying "ohhh yesss" holding the urn just before taker comes out like tupac at coachella

I was fortunate enough to meet and talk to Bill Moody over the years. He was the nicest guy you could ever meet.

I feel privileged to have met and known him, and am very saddened to hear that he is gone.

Rest in Peace Bill.

So I leave town and get back to nature for a few days and people just start dying and stuff... geez. I caught wind over the radio on a local ESPN affiliate. Douchebag DJ's were joking and laughing about it. Can't say I wasn't taken aback by the news. It has been a while since the wrestling world lost a name of Paul Bearer's caliber which, in a way, is a relief. Hopefully it'll be a while before it happens again.

R.I.P. & thanks for the memories

Paul Bearer managed some true legends during his time. Undertaker, Kane, Lex Luger, Rick Rude, Mankind, Buzz Sawyer, The Ultimate Warrior (Back when he was merely a Dingo) and Kamala.

Rest in Peace big man.

R.I.P Paul Bearer. In my opinion the funniest manager of all time, all the good people seem to die too early.

Maybe the saying "the candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long" has some truth to it.

I'd love to know the answer if anyone knows because one question about Paul Bearer will haunt me forever: Who's ashes were in the urn??

I'm going to miss Paul Bearer. Not only was he a very entertaining individual, but you never heard crap about him, he seemed like a real class act.

Rest in peace paul bearer. its not like the thing he used to say when he was on the side of undertaker when they are playing a role of a horror wrestling buddies.

I was sad to read of his passing the other day.

I met him at last year's WM Axxess, and I can honestly say he was a really nice & polite bloke.

I will always remember him as one of the greatest managers of all time, RIP Paul you will be greatly missed.
