Paul Bearer Passed Away

R.I.P Paul

i grew up watching him manage taker such a small part in wwf/wwe but big influence with the old school taker being mute other when he said rest in peace he was the mouth of him for years and when a huge shock when he turned on him to join with mankind i didn't see that coming. many moments to remember in his career one i will never forget is WM 20 the match between taker and kane before the gong ooooohhhhhhhhhhh yessssssssssss the wwe universe poped. I would of loved to see him with taker for his last match

WWE will do there normal vid at start of raw but i think they will let taker do something but with out hurting his character if they are they will have taker and the druids come to the ring and with out saying a word a pic of Paul in the big screen and he drop down to one knee do his stance/bow he does at end of matches towards the screen

Can't believe this. Just earlier today I posted in the Wrestlemania 29: Punk vs. Taker thread that I wanted to see him return in Taker's corner at the pay-per-view since Paul Heyman is gonna be in Punk's, and now I hear of this.

Yeah come to think of it that would had been golden, Paul Bearer engaging Heyman here and there before the WM match then them fighting at ring side at WM. I dont know if 'Taker was supposed to lose but I wonder if Bearer's death will effect the outcome? 'Taker already has 20 wins and I either seen him stopping at 20, 25, or even 30 so I thought 21 might not come since 30 i far fetched and 25 might be a struggle..

It sucks to hear news like this. I was hoping we might get to see him at WrestleMania, but unfortunately that's life.

I hope they can do some form of acknowledgment with Undertaker doing something subtle such as carrying an urn out at WrestleMania but then again, someone's probably likely to say that is in bad taste since he actually did pass away. Even sounding Undertaker's gong 10 times as a salute before his entrance would be nice.

I don't want them to bring up Paul Bearer all the time in this feud though.

I know that there are no tribute shows anymore, but this one practically requires it. But, in lieu of a full tribute episode:

Raw goes on the air dark. Undertakers original music hits. About 45 seconds or so in, he walks to the top of the ramp, holds up The Urn. Raises it high above his head with both hands and it get's hit by "lightning". He then gently places it on the ramp, kneels down over the top of it as Kane walks out and stands behind him. Taker does the (for lack of better phrase) the kneeling sacrifice gesture while Kane does his pyro gesture at which point everything goes off behind them. They then take The Urn down to the announce table and place it between JR and King. Both men pick up mic's and say the first words since Raw went on the air: Rest In Peace

im absolutely shattered with this news Percy Pringle was one of if not my favourite manager and made the Undertaker into what he ultimately became
god bless his family and RIP

Such a shame to hear the news, he definitely is someone who you associate with the classic WWF days, and made such a superb compliment to the Undertaker character. The look and the way he would say 'Ohhhhhh yessssss' may have been a silly gimmick, but damn, he made it iconic and it never once felt out of place. There was never a dull moment with him, ever. It's weird because I got to finally meet him at Axxess last year and said that I always admired him and the character, and he was such a wonderful person to meet, I'm at least grateful for that opportunity. Rest in Peace, William "Paul Bearer" Moody, my thoughts are with you and your family.

This shocks me and breaks my heart. I've only been watching since 1999 but I've gone back and watched Taker's early years with Paul Bearer and I remember Paul returning at WM 20. Paul helped make Undertaker what he is today and I'm going to miss him. God bless you Percy and I pray for all of your family and friends. R.I.P.

Damn it. It sucks to hear about people in the industry passing away. Paul Bearer was one of the more influential managers that had been seen throughout the WWE. His stuff with The Undertaker, Kane, and Mankind were awesome. I was hoping we would see him on WWE television with Taker at least one more time before his career ended. This is so sudden. My condolences to his family and friends; I heard him say he and Undertaker were good friends, I can't imagine how he feels right about now. We just lost one of the greatest managers of all time. Rest in Peace.

wow, this is shocking, where do I begin ? When I was lil I use to be scared of The Undertaker and Paul Bearer . Over the Years When Undertaker and Paul turned face and then again when They turned heel , I grew to love them both . I truely believe that if Paul was not with the undetaker durring his first few wm matches , they might not have been a streak that seems unbroken still till this day. I truely hope that CM Punk dont end the streak this year at WM 29 , In Honor of Paul Undetaker should win and yes it would be cool if Paul was with Undertaker for his last wm match and when undertaker gets inducted to the wwe hall of fame , Paul will and should be in this years hall of fame I am hoping that it goes this way . I loved the M.O .D they were awesome back in the attitude era . I really liked the funeral palor segments on tv that paul hosted back in the day . Paul will will be missed by every wrestling Personality and fans of wrestling throught the world .

RIP

Paul Bearer

in words of MR. Bearer , OHHHHHHHHHHHHH YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS ! REST IN PEACE !

I always hoped that he'd be by The Undertaker's side for WM29 or WM30, but it doesn't look like it's happening.

Guess not, huh?

Although, when you're aligned with the Undertaker, I suppose anything can happen. I'm waiting for the conspiracy theorists to debate whether he's really dead...... or whether this is just an angle. After all, it's taking place just a few short weeks before WM29, right?:disappointed:

Still, it's sad. The man was only 58 and battled numerous medical problems over the years, including obesity. That he got that relief from that malady probably extended his life a few years.

I hope the people who carry his coffin at the funeral appreciate the irony of what they're doing as it pertains to the stage name of the deceased.

R.I.P.

That sucks to hear. I enjoyed Bearer, especially when I was younger. While it's true he was more cartoonish during the Taker's early years, I thought it worked well. That voice and the generally creepy vibe he gave off made him a great mouthpiece for The Undertaker.

He was also fun back in his days as Percy Pringle III in the AWA and WCCW. It sounds as though, based on what I'm reading so far, that he hadn't felt all that well in some time. He was only 58. It's sad to hear that he's passed on. I think it'd be a cool gesture for WWE to induct him into the HOF this year.

Ugh....

I know that everyone dies, sometime. 1/2 of the wrestlers that we see today will probably pass during my lifetime. But every time I see news like the passing of Percy Pringle, I still can't help but feel empty inside.

Did anyone NOT like Paul Bearer? I mean, come on now... his look, his voice, his personality... he's unforgettable. And he just might be one of the most well-liked managers in history (even above Bobby Heenan.)

I'm terribly saddened to hear of his passing and I know that while his character was heading straight to hell, his real body is going to heaven.

R.I.P. Percy

I posted this on my Facebook page this morning:

"Rest In Peace to Bill Moody, one of my favorite managers in professional wrestling history. His best-known role was Paul Bearer, the only man who could truly harness The Undertaker. I got my first glimpse of him before that, though, when he was Percy Pringle in the USWA, and that's when I became a fan of Moody. I was pumped when he began his Paul Bearer character in the WWF in the early 1990's, and it became one of the most memorable in history. Just this past Monday I used Paul's catchphrase as my "hashtag" as the Undertaker's return to WWE became imminent--"Ohhhhh yeeesssss!" It was a phrase my friends and I used many times over the years and still pull out from time to time, usually when talking about Six Flags Fright Fest but sometimes also just because we want to. My mom even did a pretty good impression of him! It's sad that so close to retirement, the Undertaker won't be able to reunite with Paul Bearer one more time and ride off to Death Valley together. It's even sadder that Bill Moody won't be able to accept the honor when he's eventually inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Wrestling fans everywhere will miss you, Bill."

I'm sure there will be some kind of acknowledgement on Raw--Undertaker's appearance at WrestleMania this year has just taken on a new significance.

Such a sin he died, I was hoping for Undertaker's last match or whenever he retires Paul Bearer would be there. Back when I was a kid I always got a kick out of Paul Bearer with the urn and the "Ohhhhhhhhh my Undertaker" voice. Rest in Peace.

Wow!!
Just the thing to snap you back to reality!!

Here's something that dating myself...

I can still remember when he was Percy Pringle III
down in Texas

He won't be there for Taker's match,BUT I bet he'll still have the best seat in the house!!

Yep me to. I remember we didn't have cable and the only chance I'd be able to watch any wrestling would be on Saturday mornings. I got a few magazines and remember him to this day as Percy Pringle, way before he came into the WWF. Blonde hair and all. Such a shame. He lost his wife not so long ago to. And I had read he lost a ton of weight and felt so good for him doing that as someone who has dealt with weight issues all my life.

My most vivid Paul Bearer moment didn't even happen on television. He and Undertaker were at a local civic center when I was in 6th grade. This was when I still "believed." My Dad and I were leaving and we passed the locker room entrance and there was Paul asking for directions on how to get to the Scranton airport lol. My first realization that these guys were just characters.

RIP Paul.

I have been watching wrestling since 1967. Seen it all and seen a lot of deaths but I have to say, Paul Bearer is the one that hits me most. RIP Big guy, thanks for the memories

How incredibly unfortunate... I never saw much of him because I didn't start watching wrestling until after WM24, but once I got caught up I realized he was a pretty cool dude. RIP Mr. Bearer

Man this hurts!

My very first memories of wrestling start with Paul Bearer and The Undertaker. As a matter of fact, I'm confident in saying that if it wasn't for Paul Bearer and The Undertaker, I may have never became a wrestling fan. It was his eerie promos and appearance coupled with 'Taker's awe inspiring presence that drew me into wrestling. I believed as a child that 'Taker was Paul's Undertaker and that he controlled him with the power of the urn. He made my childhood happy.

Rest In Peace Paul Bearer

It sucks to start off your day like this, finding out that someone that you grew up watching passed away. I enjoyed watching Paul Bearer from his early days with The Undertaker, through the Attitude Era, and coming back in 2004 at WrestleMania XX. He was always an entertaining and vital piece to The Undertaker's legacy.

It's too bad that he can't come back and reunite with 'Taker or manage anyone else. He is definitely one of the greatest managers ever. R.I.P. Paul Bearer.

Very sad. RIP Paul Bearer. Awesome character and manager. I feel like Paul Bearer was a part of my childhood as I always found his angle/character interesting and scary (as a kid).

Has Mark Calloway (Undertaker) or Glen Jacobs (Kane) issued a statement yet?

Always sad to hear of a wrestling personality passing away at such a young age. I always enjoyed listening to him talk for the "Funeral Parlor" segments and I use to try imitating his voice quite a bit. I was lucky enough to get a tweet back from him a few years back. He was a very unique character as we all know. These deaths in pro wrestling never cease to shock me. R.I.P. Paul.

I hope WWE does a video tribute of him.

Dreadfully sad news. Grew up watching him. Always remembered him with Taker and no-one can argue he didn't help boost his career. He was fairly young as well. So weird that I was expecting him to appear on Raw on Monday.

The greatest manager of all time. RIP.

Undertaker and Paul Bearer went hand in hand. I always wondered if it wasn't for Paul if the Undertaker gimmick would have last as long as it did, even though Mark Callous didn't need him once the gimmick caught on.

I do hope Taker does some sort of tribute to him on Raw.
