Ongoing Thread For Smarmy Spam Responses to the WZT

No first round matches have even remotely interested me so far. From the looks of it I'm not missing much.

Hopefully things become fun again next round.

EDIT: Actually come to think of it having all first round matches be squashes is pretty stupid, no real point in even arguing when it's obvious who is getting the popular vote.

It's irrelevant. I'll either stop posting in the tournament or make more arguments for upsets.

Either way, no one will particularly care about it, I imagine.

Eh if I were paying attention to the tournament I'd be voting for Hogan over Lance on the grounds of "Fuck Lance Storm, he's a cunt." I could dress that up as "He's an overrated twat who never drew a dime" because he didn't. or "his biggest contribution to wrestling is Mickie James" which it is or "Hulk Hogan is one of the top 3 wrestlers in the history of the business, Lance Storm is a footnote" because it's true. But ultimately it'd come down to "fuck Lance Storm, he's a cunt."

So I'm not even bothering with the tournament this year unless I get a chance to revive my argument that Kane could kill his opponent by setting them on fire when they're perched for a high-flying move, but from my understanding it's brought I Am Phenom back, and really I think that speaks for itself.

I'm only interested in one argument. Andre wins a ladder/TLC match because he can't climb a ladder, and nobody would ever let him try.

Is it fun to watch people blindly vote for Hogan without even stopping to think about it for one second how close the match would actually be, given the relevant real world parameters, just because he was a big draw?

Apparently it is for everyone else. I should know better by now, I guess.

Blindly voting for Hogan? Are you sure you're not blindly voting against him? I get it. You're trying to shake things up and take a stand in the first round. A huge upset would be cool to see. You've picked the wrong match for that.

It (and Wrestlemania) has brought me back, as it does every year.

I may lose touch with these forums every so often, but this tournament is something that I look forward to every year and I wouldn't miss it for the world.

He also has much better hair than Hogan ever had.

I understand feeling that way prior to seeing what I've just posted.

It's James Storm, not Lance Storm.

EDIT- Someone beat me to it.

Greatest star of all time vs. guy that rode the Boozer Cruiser and has established himself as a choker.

Seriously, it's not that big of a deal.

Thanks for killing my interest in the WZ tourney, along with just about everyone else.

This is how it happens every time. Reputation calls, voting for people because of what they did for the business. Nobody cares about who would actually win the match if it happened one on one, which is the whole point of the tourney.
There's nothing wrong with arguing in favor of James Storm. I like him far more than I do Hogan. But Hogan is that guy who revolutionized the sport and James is the guy TNA is too stupid to put as their top star. By proxy Storm would lose because he always loses big matches because that's how TNA stupidly thinks.

You're upset because people aren't voting on the same basis as yourself. That's just the nature of the tournament, you can vote whoever based on whatever. I'm not sure everyone is voting Hogan, just because he's Hogan. Just being Hulk Hogan is a big deal, but aside from that you know yourself that he rarely lost even as a heel and James Storm has an uninteresting W/L record unless you're looking exclusively at last year's BFG series.

In other, non-Hogan news;

Why do we keep sucking Tito Santana's dick and let him into this tournament, when it seems like he loses every first round?

See, this is where the imprecise wording and exaggerations of the unwashed masses bothers me.

Not that it has any bearing on the outcome of the matches, but Nigel drew money for Ring Of Honor. He didn't draw "global phenomenon" money like top WWE guys do. But that's beside the point. The notion that STUNNING Steve Austin, a glorified midcarder, put more asses in seats than one of ROH's top guys is exaggerating Austin's greatness. And for what? Honestly, what is gained from this kind of post?

This is true. Ring of Honor's highest attendances were during Nigel's one year long reign as ROH World Champion, probably going to be surpassed by Steen from Supercard of Honor onward but yes, he did in fact draw money, not that he'd beat SCSA or anything.
