Don't be afraid to try your hand at something long-term just because of a job prospect. Jobs come and go man, but love, that's something you need to cherish when you truly do find it.
As for this girl that seems "datable", well, you've got to go out and tell her how you feel and ask her out if you think that! Trust me when I tell you that nothing is worse than wishing you could have done something. What's the worst that happens? She rejects you, you're hurt for a few days, maybe a bit embarrassed? Trust me, that's a thousand times better than to look back in ten years and say "God DAMNIT I should have just gone ahead and tried it!"
I'd say, if you really think you don't want to be alone right now, than yeah, go out and "play the field" so to speak (though I know you're a moral young fellow, so I'm sure there won't be any promiscuous orgies for you eh?).
Worry about a year and 10 months from now when that time comes. Jobs come and go, but love my man Milky, that is a rare gem that you need to treasure if you discover it. Nothing, and I mean nothing is more important than love in this world. Absolutely nothing.
