[OFFICIAL] Titus O'Neil / Zack Ryder Discussion Thread

It's no shock to me he was eliminated. People on here seem to really want to defend him, but his character had the least potential to me. He wasn't good on the mic, he wasn't that good in the ring, and his gimmick wasn't very good or appealing. People trash on Eli Cottonwood, but being as he is a giant it's very easy to plug him into storylines. What storylines are easy and ready made for Titus O'Neil?

The only thing that upsets me about the elimination is that we might not see as much of Zach Ryder now that he's gone. A couple weeks ago we saw a different side of Zach and I thought it was pretty neat. It gave his character more depth and it gave us more to relate to in regards to his character. It's for this reason that I'm somewhat upset about the elimination, but the fact is Titus wouldn't of won NXT anyways, so you might as well get the elimination out of the way early. The other guys and characters have much more potential.

I'm upset. Both Titus and Zach were promising characters, and we are robbed of both of them. Titus did give an outstanding promo before he departed though, so I think WWE will bring him back eventually.

Now hold up a second, let's not get carried away. While he final promo was solid, nothing else he did on the mic even approached the realm of "Very good". What he did have was emotion, but his metaphors fell flat and he always seemed to lose himself halfway through each promo with the exception of tonight's final one. He had tons of potential to be very good, since as we saw when he is on form he can deliver a passionate speech, but right now he is nowhere close to being "very good" at anything. Luckily he seemed to want to improve so I think he'll go back down to FCW and work to improve himself, and come back to the WWE. Depending on whether he can seize his opportunity or not, he could become a future star.
Alright, maybe I should have used a better choice of words. Currently, he is average on the mic. But he has potential to be very good on the mic. He has passion, or he can have it, and in my mind, he'll turn out to be good in the future. He needs to work on alot of things, true, but once he does get everything together, as he has time until the finale, he might pop up pretty soon. I don't know if they script the elimination promos, but if they don't, then he has alot of potential to get where he needs to be and get where he can be.

I was sad to see Titus O'Neil go. He had a good character and his promo style really stood out to me. I doubt this is the last we see of him because a character like that can be extremely motivational for the fans, always sharing wisdom during promos and helping us all "make it a win". I look forward to seeing O'Neil again in the future, but I thought he would have done better than this. Cottonwood should have been eliminated first, not Titus. I bet he will be back because WWE would be making a huge mistake if he's truly gone. Anyone can improve in the ring, but a promo style like Titus O'Neil's can't be learned. His character was like an extension of his actual self and tried to be a good role model at the same time, we need more people like that in WWE.

Totally agree with Dagger Dias. His charecter is great, and he had a unique promo style, he almost sounded like a motivational speaker out there. I too think he will come back to the WWE at some point, as this guy can get over with the crowd, has a strong looking physique, and is only improving in the ring.

I personally think they should have kept this guy aroung longer because, if given time, I think he could have gotten over HUGE with the crowd and could have possibly made some waves during this NXT season, plus he only got to compete in two matches, two tag matches if I'm not mistaken, that alone isn't enough to eliminate someone, I almost wish they would have gone another week without eliminations so we could better evaluate the different wrestlers and see all of them in at least one singles match.

But, he's gone, lets just hope he has enough passion for the buisness to return to FCW, get better on the stick, and in the ring, and come back twice as strong.

Wow...they buried him tonight. He wasn't THAT bad, not in the slightest. It was a really stupid move to bury someone with such potential. John Morrison has no right to say anyone is shit on the mic.

I really hope this doesn't spell the end for the guy. He's back in FCW, according to his Twitter, and he's probably working hard to improve. Did you know he has a PhD in motivational speaking? It explains why his mic skills were decent at times. He just needs a polish and some more training.

I was a fan of Titus' too bad he got eliminated if nothing that odd tall guy Eli Cottonwood should of been eliminated his look is not promising and he just bothers me for some reason. Zack Ryder could of made a win out of Titus O'Neil he had a lot of potential.

I actually feel sorry for titus. WWE could have brought him in as a monster face or heel who can actually wrestle. He may not have the best mic skills, but how about WWE give him a manager like a Jimmy Hart or Bobby Heenan style. He could then eventually turn on the manager or the manager can turn on him once his mic skills have improved.

I see him coming back on the Smackdown! brand without much mention of his NXT run, basically hyped as a motivational speaking character.

What I've noticed from this series of NXT rookies is they create their stand-out moments just before they're eliminated. Is this a sign that its a character they run with in the future? Titus as a somewhat-motivational speaker, Eli as a rampant unstable force? Perhaps.

I found it hard to fault Titus apart from one thing. Sadly he just couldn't connect with the audience apart from that closing speech which really worked... so with that fault now corrected, expect to see Titus back soon.
