Official: The Great American Bash 2007 Thread

Ok I will retract my statement saying I had no problems with any of the champions. I do in fact have a problem with Hornswoggle. As if the title wasn't crap before, now it really is! I mean, really, at one point the Cruiserweight title was something special for those in the weight class, but now it's just thrown to leprechauns? give me a break.

Just my thoughts...

US Title: Just as I thought would happen. Hardy's got the skills to have won the match, but MVP is one of their top heels right now on Smackdown.

Cruiserweight Open: Although its a bit odd, I'm actually kind of glad something like this happened. The Cruiserweights have been either ignored or lacking in showmanship for a little while in my opinion. Chavo, albeit a good wrestler, just never seemed like he was going to lose to any of these guys to me. It sucked me out of the matches. Now maybe things will get a little mixed up and interesting. Hornswaggle vs Max Mini at Summerslam...haha j/k, but that'd be funny. Throw in Dink for a triple threat match.

Carlito/Sandman: I much rather would have had Regal & Carlito vs Sandman & Duggan, so I was a little disappointed. Its a shame both of these talented guys aren't even gunning for a belt, but we had Santino Marella as IC champ to diminish the worth of it.

Candice/Melina: Really, who cares? Candice, along with almost all of the rest of the Women's Division, can't wrestle. Mickie James, Melina, they're ok, but how often can you really watch two women scream and grunt to overact and then grab each other's hair and fling them across the ring? Melina has much more talent, I think, but I never once for a second thought Candice was booked to lose this match. Its a shame these aren't entertaining, cause the girls are attractive.

IC Title: Damn, I was expecting (and hoping) that Jeff would win. Umaga doesn't need the title right now...he's been boring for a long time after that ridiculously long push back with Lashley after Cena's bore fest. Hopefully we'll see Jeff win it before Summerslam and start some programs with some actual talent: Kennedy, Carlito, Shelton Benjamin, etc.

ECW Title: Never expected CM Punk to win after they JUST gave Nitro a name change...but "John Morrison" just sounds...odd. Johnny Nitro, though it kind of resembles someone that should be teaming with Marty Jannetty, lol, was a much smoother "roll off the tongue" kind of gimmick name. John Morrison just sounds like the jobber of the week that will be wrestling with the standard pads and shorts that are most likely bright colors.

Orton/Dusty: Who didn't see that coming? I mean, c'mon. You build up a feud like this and we know exactly what you're going for nowadays.

Khali/Kane/Batista: Obviously they weren't going to have Khali lose this fast, and having these three big guys in one match together just screams the same old same old. Its really a shame that Edge is injured. He was the best thing Smackdown had going for it. Here's hoping that by the end of Summerslam, someone like Matt Hardy or Rey Mysterio's holding the world title.

WWE Title: Again, who didn't see that coming? Cena might lose at Summerslam to Orton...that's about the nearest I see them dropping him as champ. Now, while I'm not a fan of Cena, and I'd much rather see other people holding the title (HBK, Taker, Edge, even Orton, etc), he does have one thing going for him that Lashley doesn't...the ability to talk and sound like a convincing character. Lashley sounds like he's trying way too hard, like when you hear a little child threaten with "oh yeah? Oh yeah? Well, oh yeah?" I keep expecting him to turn around and go "Line??" when he's doing his promos and in-ring speak. Push this guy down to midcard, please.

Well I might get flamed for this but I actually enjoyed the women's title match! No it wasn't match of the night but it was good for women's division standards.

Rather then sitting on the toilet taking a piss maybe actually watch a match for once. There were some rough spots of course but there were some good ones as well. Candice did a crossbody off the top rope and she is one of few ladies to do top rope/highflying moves anymore.

I don't see where Candice is a bad wrestler. I just don't. No she's not no Beth but she can hold her own in the ring at least!

But seriously maybe people should actually watch a match for the women's title now and then critisize it because you'll se that the matches aren't half bad!

Well I've had time for a sleep and to reflect on what I saw last night.

And guess what....

Its still crap. People say , oh you didn't like it because the guys you wanted to see win didn't (well if Im critising it for being boring and predicitble then yes). But it wasn't that fact that much. Just that all the matches were really bad.

The triple threat match was awful. People critisise Kane , but for a man of 7ft tall of course hes going to be slow , but he works his arse off. But Khali is so terrible to wrestle against , oooh the two handed chokebomb , what a great move ... its not even a drop because hes not good enough to do it.

Cena vs Lashley. It wasn't the result that pissed me off really , it was just such a poor finish and poor match in general , the FU off the top rope. But the match in itself was really bad , Lashley never got going , but I'm just glad he didn't tap , that would have really really annoyed me.

People say that Hornswaggle winning the Cruserweight belt degrades it , well didn't Gregory Helms' 10 month reign do that aswell.

US Title: does matt hardy ever win? lol he opens and loses every ppv...completely predictable, even with all the close pinfalls at the end it didnt stir anyone in the room i was in. not for a second did anyone think hardy would win...

Cruiserweight Open: wow, i thot it would be a good match...but no. and then then end...i was just speechless with anger.

Carlito/Sandman: poor carlito. having to wrestle these no talent hacks these last few months...i liked sandman 10 years ago when he was in the right element with the right writer and was used properly. now he is an uber stiff old man who cant produce a good match anymore. and when the cane was finally grabbed it was swung once (a miss) and then the match was immediately over. bad match, worse ending. no blood?? cmon this is a sandman match with a singapore cane on a pole...wtf!!!

Candice/Melina: i hate womens wrestling (see my post in the "does candice deserve the belt" string. so i didnt expect anything from this one so i wasnt disappointed. it was exactly what i expected. crap. tho i have to say i wanted milena to win with the new move she used on raw...but nope...she didnt even do the move at all.

IC Title: every single MF'ing week jeff fights for a title or a title shot and loses. and they keep giving him title shots!!! for gods sake there has never been a wrestler i have been more physically and mentally sick of seeing than jeff hardy. ok maybe matt...anyway, very predictable match but it had the best ending of the whole card.

ECW Title: lol john morrison...huh? do kids today even know who jim morrison is? do they even get the comparison?even better question...does anyone care?? lol i think we are supposed to take him more seriously now...? anyway the match sucked and i realized tonight that cm punks best days are over. no more wrestling, like RoH. its all punch, kick, and a whole lot of laying around and overacted fatigue from now on. all cm proved was that if your willing to dumb down your skills and sacrifice your nearly endless move set to about 6 moves that you see every match, you get rewarded.

Orton/Dusty: what an F'ing disgrace. first off when it was reported that you could win by pinfall or submission hours before the ppv, it was cemented that orton would win, not that i even had a second of doubt. his entire career has been built on being the guy who helps hese nostalgic past-their-time goobers get one more crowd pop. back to the match, a 5 minute bullrope match with the bullrope match legend is something that really pissed me off. no blood either??? wtf??? if dusty cant go more than 5 minutes than keep him off the damn card. all this match did was hurt all involved, including the prestige of the bullrope match.

Khali/Kane/Batista: i despise all 3 of these guys...and this garbage and LAZY match just re-enforced that thot. we actually went outside to smoke a blunt during this one...we needed it after remembering we had to pay 40$ for the crap show we just watched. this whole match and the way it came to be proves to me that wwe not only cannot come up with interesting storylines but if you throw something unexpected into the equation, then you can expect things to get a lot worse. khali as champ...wow. maybe change the name of the company and exclude the word wrestling.

WWE Title: sadly, it was the best match of the card which isnt saying much. totally expected the outcome. cena is a super stiff worker who cant sell ice to a desert, let alone a move in the ring. this man does not under any circumstance allow anyones move to look good. and he doesnt ever sell the pain...if his leg gets worked over for 10 minutes, he will get up and walk on it just fine, forgetting that it is supposed to hurt. and did you see the STF he did? hahahaha boy i dont think anyone in the world who saw it can say it looked good. it had to be worse than i ever saw it before including when marcus alexander bagwell used it 15 yrs ago. and lashley is a goober nicknamed "the ratings killer" for his complete lack of mic skills and inability to perform some emotion in his face and actions. the match ended with cenas firemans carry off the top rope. how is that move even a finisher? candice did the firemans carry earlier in the night too but at least she added a roll up pin to it and made it different...

overall the show was one of the worst ive ever seen. especially after watching the tna ppv last week which was pretty darn good.

Things I learnt from The Bash:

Triple H is returning. And he's going to crush Booker.

I was wrong about Khali, bad matches aren't always entertaining.

The Hardyz cant act.

The Hardyz like fake tan.

Hornswoggle is probably the 2nd most credible champ in WWE.

Cena can carry a match.

MVP vs. Matt:
Pretty good. Nothing spectacular. I hope the feud continue. But it's Summer Slam next so you've got to make way for the real stars. Stevo-O & Co.

Candice vs. Melina: Not a good match. But I actually appreciate that they tried hard. Bless 'em.

Sandman vs. Carlito: Pointless stipulation. Bad match. Both suck. But at least Sandy has a history behind him.

Jeff Hardy vs. Umaga: Surprisingly good. Not a fan of Jeff but I thought this was not bad.

Dusty Rhodes vs. Randy Orton: I must confess, I had a wank over Babestation when this was on.

Cruiser Invitational: The WWE cruisers could have the best match ever and it would still get shat on. Ok. But more than a few minutes next time please.

Heavyweight Title Match:
Bad. You know it is when Dave's the best thing in it.

Nitro vs. Punk: Ok. Really bad finish. Finishes like that will bury Punk. Hopefully he'll get the title at S.S.

Lashley vs. Cena: Best match of the card. WTF? Not the dream match that WWE tried to promote it as though. I would have prefered Punk vs. Noble personally.

MVP vs Hardy- Not as good as i thought it would be.. but it was alright.. really bad finish though. botched on the playmaker

Cruiserweight match- the cruiserweight division is alright buried as it is.. but it was alright lmao hornswoggle new champ

Carlito vs Sandman- pointless match

Women's title match- i went to take a shit when this match was going on.

Intercontinental title match- Surprisingly good.. i thought it was cool when Umaga gave sort of a catatonic like move to Jeff Hardy. but it was good..well. a lot more than what i expected from it.

ECW- it was an alright match.. REALLY HORRIBLE FINISH.. i take it that Vince came up with that one.

Bullrope match- really shitty.. barely 5-10 minutes long...

Worldheavyweight title match- was surprisingly okay.. i mean it made the spot of the night.. Batista and Kane putting Khali through a table.

WWE title match- surprisingly a good match.. good mat wrestling and amateur wrestling by Lashley in the beginning.. but like always Cena won.. i never get my hopes up when he's wrestling. But hopefully the rumours that his time is up at Summerslam will be true.. Maybe it will be Orton... or Kennedy.. or Lashley who beats him.. i'm just wishing for that!

I read all these people saying the PPV stinks because of the results. Yea the results stink but the action was actually pretty good. I agree with the lot of ya that Cena needs to lose. Thank god I saw this at Buffalo Wild Wings because I went calypso after Cena won. Khali won too?! Come on people! I know people says yes Khali's matches rule because he's easy to laugh it, leave the comedy to gimmick people like Highlanders and Cryme Time.

My review for the Bash

MVP vs Hardy

I figured this one would have been better..but it wasnt that bad and still kept me into it but MVP needs to quit botching his own finisher before he becomes anything special...decent match

Carlito vs Sandman

It was a singapore cane match and nobody got to see one hit with the cane...this whole match was BS

Jeff Hardy vs Umaga

This to me was a good match...not what i expected Jeff has some great moves and alot of near falls towards the end made it good But Umaga continues to gobble down the belt and now he can go mess with the jackasses

Cruiserweight Open

Should have been longer but i liked the ending rofl at hornswoggle...the whole division isnt cared about by WWE and obviously the showed us last night..

Candice vs Melina

Didnt see much of the match as i decided to take a piss break and grab some nachos but Candice winning was what i expected im sure the match was bad

Nitro vs Punk

This match wasnt good and the ending was one of those that had you saying WTF? it was terrible and Punk probaly gets another shot at SS

Bullrope match

The match was to short...We see no blood...it sucked..nuff said now hopefully RKO can move on to SS and geta shot at superman for the belt

Khali vs Boretista vs Kane

Bad...Bad...Bad and more Bad The table spot was the only good thing about this match all 3 of these guys are terrible in the ring and it showed last night Khali as champion is ridiculous and I dont even want to watch SD! anymore Boretista continued to bore me as usual...Kane is out of shape and Khali is well...Khali

Lashley vs Superman

Once again Cena overcomes all odds and defeats the mighty Lashley...the match was ok nothing great Lashley showed he has great mat skills and outwrestled Cena...Cena showed that he has only 5 moves and continued to get beat around then make his comeback now he will be off to face Orton(maybe) and with Hunter's backstage bullshit Orton could win and if that happens I will bow down to the king..

The Good: Jeff Hardy vs Umaga...surprisingly these 2 put on a decent match i liked it and was into it unlike the other snoozers on the card

The Bad: Sandman/Carlito..it was a shitty ending and not one hit with a cane...and crappy wrestling

The Ugly: The whole PPV,it pretty much sucked and was a big waste of money ...no title changes..no blood...predictable outcomes...bad wrestling...2 or 3 ok matches..i give this PPV a D- and its very lucky to get that..Thank You Hornswoggle

The majority of people feel like this was a bad PPV. Im going to disagree. I thought it was a good PPV, much better than Vengeance.

MVP-Hardy
Good way to start off the PPV. I wasnt fooled by the near falls but nice back and forth action. I'm glad to see MVP hold on to it, as this is one of the best US title reigns in a long time. I see Hardy winningg the rematch at Summerslam.

Cruiserweight Open
Solid, non stop action by all five cruiserweights. I laughed when Hornsnoogle got the pinfall. This is going to be good!

Carlito-Sandman
It was ok, nothing special.

Candace-Melina
I have to Candace credit, she has really improved over this year. She really did some nice moves last night. She deserves to be womens champ. Another ok match.

Jeff Hardy-Umaga
IMO the match of the night. It was a classic David Golaith type match that Jeff almost pulled out. For a second I thought Hardy was going to pull the upset, but I'm glad to Umaga retain.

ECW Title Match
It wasnt horrible but it wasnt their best match, as I believe their match at Vengance was better. I didnt like the ending.

Orton-Rhodes
Average match, as I wsnt expecting a five star. Orton adds to his legend killer list.

WHC
Am I the only person that thinks this wasnt a bad match? It wasnt a classic or MOTY, but it an intriging match. There have been many worse matches.
Khali looks even more dominate now than before the match. Maybe the WWE knew what they were doing by putting the starp on Khali. Hes not that good of a wrestler but it makes for a good story to see if there is anyone that will take the strap off him. At first I didnt like having the title on him but now I dont mind so much.

WWE Championship
Pretty good match. Lashley looked very good in the ring. His wrestling skills are at a main event level. Maybe the WWE can give him a manager as he improves his mic skills. I just wonder whats next for Lashley? Maybe a fued with Kennedy. Only thing I didnt like about the match was Cena retaining. I'm just glad Lashley didnt tap out. I guess Cena-Orton is on the card for Summerslam. Thats a dream match of mine. I believe its the next great WWE rivalry.

I give GAB a B.

I actually thought that the great american bash was a above avarage PPV! Just watched it yesterday and I enjoyed it. I read couple of other post and seems like not many didn't like it, well everyone has their own opinion. Here's couple of matches...

Matt vs. MVP
Everyone knew how it's going to end but atleast they got something out of the first match. I've never liked MVP but not a bad match, but not so great.

Jeff vs. Umaga
Great! Man, this was a great match. Umaga is one of those wrestlers who can suprise you with his athletism. He is big but he can move and do everything. Jeff and Umaga were great, maybe best match of the PPV.

Orton vs. American dream
Don't like the texas bullrope match and it wasn't great but I got to root for the Legend killer! Get him the title.

Khali vs. Batista vs. Kane
Could've been good one but Khali can't move, but he is big! Could have been better.

Cena vs. Lashley
Go Cena! I was sure Lashley would take this one but it didn't happen. Both showed some great moves, expecially Lashley. Wouldn't be bad to see a rematch, where both would get to the next gear. But it totally were better than some Khali vs Cena matches.

I think all and all it was one of the best I've seen since Wrestlemania!

I do in fact have a problem with Hornswoggle. As if the title wasn't crap before, now it really is! I mean, really, at one point the Cruiserweight title was something special for those in the weight class, but now it's just thrown to leprechauns? give me a break.

Forgot to ad this one. I could not agree with you more.

the great American bash was ok, general every month ppv for the wwe...not terrible, but not good by any means, jus eh whatever....

MVP vs Matt Hardy
I really think matt hardy would make an awesome US champion, and could continue to rebuild the prestige of the US title...good match up here, and with matt's recent push had me thinking he had a chance to win...yet still more good stuff from MVP, although he botches his finisher....I think we can see better from these two, and hopefully we will come SS, and have Hardy win it 7/10

Cruiserweight open
goodness...friggin hornswaggle...we COULD have super crazy, kid kash, Mistico (if they wouldve sighned him), and others making this division matter...I cant help but think back to the ol wcw nitro and saturday night days, when the cruiserweights were the best damn thing on the card a lot of nights...they could do SO much better with this...6/10 for the match, pre hornswaggle

Jeff Hardy vs Umaga
As much as people like to hate on Hardy, and as much as many may disagree with me, this was match of the night in my opinion...Hardy played the underdog role very well, took some SICK bumps (dude he straight backflipped from the spike, and got THROWN by that sidewalk slam lol) and made it appear like he may have a chance to win, I was on the edge of my seat, which very rarely happens while watching WWE..Id like to have Jeff as our only "underdog" champion in the wwe(cough cena cough) at least he is entertaining in the underdog role 8.5/10

Orton VS Rhodes
Ok everyone you can act pissed about this if you want, but did you SERIOUSLY expect more than this??yea a little blood wouldve been better, matbe had this be a little nastier, but have you LOOKED at dusty rhodes lately?? lol he isnt gonna give you anything more than 5 to 10 minutes if that..not very good, but I didnt expect it to be (kinda like the wwe right now lol) 5/10

Kane vs khali vs Batista
Good lord this was bad lol..everything in it..jus bad bad bad...the chokeslam by kane on khali...BAD...the spinebuster from big dave to khali? BAD...although we might have actually witnessed devine intervention on TV, becuase somehow Dave pulled that of without tearing every single last muscle in his back..even the table bump sucked ass, khali was like 2 inches off the ground....very very bad...2/10

Cena VS Lashley...the match of the century...
well this has pretty much gotten to the point were I am like a sedated mental patient just accepting life...Cena will win...always..always...always...I actually called out the spot were lashley missed the spear and got put into the STFU...30 seconds before it happened, I said out loud "lashley is about to miss the spear and get put into the STFU"...WHATYA KNOOOWWW...lol...oh well pretty decent action for who we had wrestleing (personally I think lashley is about 100% better than Cena), and the way Bobby landed off of that FU off the top rope actually did kinda look like it hurt like a motherfucker lol...eh still predictable ending, no big deal, jus another one for the grinder...just like every wwe show....7/10

This was a ok ppv maybe not worth my money but ok..

U.S Title - MVP vs. Mat Hardy
Good match could have been better. MVP's finisher looked like he put no effort in it which made it look painless. I would love to see Hardy win it a SS.

Cruseiweight Open
this match showed that the crusierweight division still can pull off a decent match. this match was one of my faves. the ending was kind so-so. I would love to see a champion vs. champion match (Hornswoggle Vs. The Crap Khali).

IC Title - Umaga vs. Jeff Hardy
This was MOTN in my oppinion, umaga showed great athletism and hardy was selling all of Umaga's moves perfectly. great match.

ECW Title - John Morrison Vs. C.M Punk
Well its safe to say this was the most the most overrated match on the card. Their match at Vengeance has awesome, their match at GAB was eh..so-so.

Bullrope Match - Dusty Rhodes vs. Randy Orton
I actually though this match would be decent but well wasnt i wrong. I liked the old bullrope rules. Still no blood..oh well..

Heavyweight Title - The Crap Khali vs. Boretista vs. Kane
this match was God aweful. not worth my time commenting on it.

WWE Title - Superman vs. Lashley
lashley definetly carried that match, he was very athletic. the best thing cena did in tht match was the fu off the top. i actually though cena was gonna lose..damn

Lashley did NOT carry that match, Cena carried it. Just look at the way the spots flowed from one to the other, it was mostly Cena (although Lashley was impressive in the match too).

and if you thought Cena was going to lose and he didn't, isn't that a good thing? Everyone chirps about how predictable WWE is all the time, after all...

You know when I saw that match on dailymotion i was one that was quite surprised at how well Cena did carrying that match. I dont want anyone to sit here and tell me that Lashley carried Cena as that is not what happened. You know i dislike Cena as much as the next guy but it was an ok when you have to men that use power as their main offense. Lashley has his spot though he is no where near carrying a match. It wasnt a five start classic but it was good enough. Cena did the work in the match and it gave you what you wanted at the end excitement as it looked like nothing Cena could do could stop lashley.
