Official Summer Slam 2007 Thread

I bet he will lose it in the next PPV.....dont foget if he holds it until around September he would of been champ for over a year...meaning logest raining in WWE history I believe I think thats the angle McMahon is aiming @ have him hold onto it for a little over a year then finally lose it @ a PPV...I mean Cena is Vinces boy toy....I doubt he will hold it for much longer.

Slyfox's breakdown:

1. Kane vs. Finlay - Surprisingly, not terrible. Not surprisingly, not good. This would have made for a better second or third match, not a major PPV opener.

Rating: *

2. Umaga vs. Kennedy vs. Carlito - Note to WWE creative: Never again put Carlito and Kennedy in the same ring in the same match together. God, once again, they were absolutely pitiful. At least Umaga made the match somewhat bearable.

Rating: *

3. Rey vs. Chavo - Probably the best match of the night. Good story, built well on their history and their feud, and was pretty consistent. They weren't as fluid as we know they can be together, but that's easily understandable.

Rating: ***1/2

4. Diva Battle Royal - Best not to discuss. Move on.

Rating: DUD

Hardy/MVP/Austin - Question for everyone. Is Steve Austin ever going to do anything besides bury current members of the roster? Otherwise, very entertaining segment, and Austin doing exercises beforehand was incredible.

5. Punk vs. Morrison - Another dull and boring match between these two. How these guys can manage to take a fairly hot crowd and suck all the wind out of them in no time is beyond me. It's time to move on from Punk vs. Morrison.

Rating: * 3/4

6. HHH vs. Booker - These two better just feel lucky they were on such an awful card. A match like that at some PPVs would be an embarrassment. HHH's timing was completely off, and once again, it appeared that Booker was less than thrilled working with his Summerslam opponent (see 2006 Summerslam).

Rating: * 1/2

7. Batista vs. Khali - First, Michael Cole is an idiot. Why he kept screaming that Khali might have "just realized it was Batista's night" despite the fact Khali controlled the entire match and Batista had 4 offensive moves is beyond me. This match wasn't awful. Wasn't good, but wasn't awful. And of course, I'm sure Batista will get his 32532 title shot of 2007 at Unforgiven. Seriously, how many title shots does one loser get? And, didn't we see a DQ match for the WHC last year at Summerslam?

Rating: * 1/2

8. McMahon segments - Pretty entertaining for the most part. However, it made the show feel like another episode of Raw in a way.

9. John Cena vs. Randy Orton - Once again, John Cena has put on another high quality match. And, once again, every reason in the world is used to half-ass explain it, except the one that makes the most sense. John Cena is a hell of a wrestler. This match was intriguing and interesting all the way through, and had an electric atmosphere (strangely enough, most Cena matches do). The match did tend to drag at some places, and it seemed as if Orton was a little slow sometimes to move to what needed to be done next. But, a good story, high quality ending, and Jim Ross screaming about how it was a great championship bout, puts this match at arguably the best of the night.

Rating: *** 1/4

Overall show rating: **

WWE has no idea what they are doing. Horrible. Cena is over, he doesn't need the title 10 months, Ortan should have won tonight. Cena has beaten everyone which now means it's boring. It was Ortan's time. Triple H is back as a face. Huge mistake. The great Khali is the worst wrestler of all time. Rey Rey is back , like anyone cares except a 5 year old. Undertaker is coming, wow, this didn't happen 500 times already. William regal can't even say Umaga. Right now the only cool thing is Ron S saying DAMB. Get rid od ECW and the Jim Morrison wanabe. Like it wasn't obvious Beth Phenoix wasn't goin to win. Overall, They need new writers. The main even ended with a scoop slam. Give me a break.

Aside from the Cena Match Summerslam was bad real bad Khali Batista Meh what did we expect anyways i was looking forward to Punk Morrison but what 7 minutes WTF come on then Kane finlay No comment Good too see Triple H back for some reason Mysterio did not look real good too me at all looked even disinterested at times just a thought diva battle royal face it its not Trish and Lita out there I enjoyed the IC title match again not much time for this match

does anyone notice their Pay per views go to like 10:45 now it does not even go to 11 But I fear that we will be Seeing Cena orton again at Unforgiven and AGAIN at No Mercy why else would Orton be on the Poster god damn if he jobs two more Pay per views ill be livid let him win at Unforgiven but dont give him another match at No Mercy I honestly dont know when he is gonna lose would you put it past WWE to have Triple H lose to him I would not

I give the overall Pay Per View a D+ waste of 40 dollars

Don't get me wrong, I'm all up for the long title reigns like it was in the old days which IMO makes a title more prestigious and makes a title change something that's actually a big deal, unlike back when the WWE title changed almost every single PPV as if it's the IC title, however I don't believe Cena is the right wrestler for the spotlight.

Just cross your fingers that Triple H's return will make a "good impact".

Summerslam Aftermatch: My thoughts on the P.P.V. **(Spoilers Inside)**

1. Kane v. Finlay: I thought this match was a nice, solid, fast paced match that was more than expected. Overall, I was happy with it & more impressed with it than the World Championship match-up. Kane getting the win was nice, could've went either way. Glad to see they didn't completely bury Kane. (yet)

2. Intercontinental Championship: Umaga v. Mr. Kennedy v. Carlito: The first shocker (but not the last?) of the night saw Umaga come out retaining his Championship. In what some predicted as a MOTN hopeful.. I completely did not think so. Short, fast paced match, which did not see any type of 3-way except when Carlito & Kennedy double teamed Umaga. Nice finish. In my personal opinion.. I was disappointed, as Umaga could've lost without losing.. but I guess they wanna push out a Kennedy v. Umaga possible feud for Unforgiven.

3. Diva Battle Royal: Surprisingly, the fans didn't boo much. I think its because most of them were buying shirts, beers, or going to the bathroom. Glad to see Beth Pheonix pull out the win. I never got the push McCool was getting, but Beth is an actual wrestler.. not diva turned wrestler.. so I look for Beth to capture the Championship whenever she turns in her contender challenge. Most likely, Unforgiven.

4.Rey Mysterio v. Chavo Guerrero: W.W.E.'s version of a Mexican 'Silver Surfer.' I didn't see much of this match, cause Rey's new return look was blinding me. What I heard of it though.. sucked highly. The crowd BARELY popped, what the hell? And Mysterio proving to Cole & J.B.L. that he's still the same guy.. was bullshit. Outside of a few hurricanrana's, head-scissors, & the 6.1.9.. Chavo (in my opinion) carried Rey through his ring rust. Bad come-back for Mysterio.. hopefully he'll get better as the monthes pass by. (by the way, does anyone else think Mysterio didn't train during his time off? He looks pudgy & fat)

5. E.C.W. Championship: John Morrison v. C.M. Punk: Personal let-down. Many bad mouthed this being a MOTN quality match.. I tried defending it. I APOLOGIZE for doing so. I'm happy Morrison kept the Championship, but the match was barely a match & ranked right above the World Heavyweight Championship in my opinion. I was completely disappointed outside of Morrison retaining.. & the ending was shit.

6. Triple H. v. King Booker: Shockingly, not as big of a pop as I was expecting. I'm somewhat let down by the NJ crowd. (more on that later) Triple H. did what everyone expected.. he won.. I have nothing more to say, cause this was way too predictable & not worth $40.00.

7. World Heavyweight Championship: Great Khali v. Batista To all those who said Khali has to win, or he'll lose his monster cred.. WHAT NOW?! Khali bitches out & gets DQed, the fans were more alive in chanting "boring" & expressing how much the match sucked.. that W.W.E. didn't pull a mid-match change-up & have Batista just win the title. So now I, along with everyone else has to sit through another whole month, if not more, of trying to figure out what Khali's saying & watching more 'punch, kick, chop, boot, claw, foot pin' type matches.. AHHHH screw that. And if I get another Batista v. Khali rematch, gimmick or not, for Unforgiven.. I swear I'll never give W.W.E. credit again. NOONE WANTS THIS.. at least Cena has little children that love him.. NOONE WANTS KHALI AS CHAMPION!

8. W.W.E. Championship: John Cena v. Randy Orton: Finally.. does this really shock anyone? I said it for the past week.. I LOTHE CENA, but noone thought he'd win.. which is.. PERFECT for him to pull out another win! I have absolutely nothing to say about this. Orton owned Cena through the whole match.. Cena needs to go back to OVW, or California & learn that when someone is beating your ass through the whole match.. you don't "Hulk" yourself back to a win. This isn't yester-year, dammit!

Overall thoughts on p.p.v. & the future: All I have to say is, I now officially look forward to Orton doing what he was suppose to, had everyone in the world not screwed up by "knowing" he'd do it tonight. Randy Orton (in my opinion) will win the W.W.E. Championship either tomorrow night on Raw, or at Unforgiven. (which would be a full year of Cena being champion - also more likely.)

I'm EXTREMELY disappointed with the NJ fans.. let me explain something that I'm sick & tired of seeing from a group of people. When you hold up a f'n sign that says "Cena wins & we riot." F*CKING DO IT! I'm tired of hearing people go on & on about how "oh, I'll quit watching if Cena wins another match." NO you won't.. because if your a wrestling fan, you'll watch yourself into a depression.. but you'll keep watching. I LOVE WRESTLING, but I HATE W.W.E. for what they're doing. Will I ever quit watching? NO, why? Because I still have my favorites.. & outside of being disappointed when a group of millions rant & rave about rioting & DON'T come through on their promise.. I'm thankful that W.W.E. hasn't given John Cena a full 2 hour Raw all to himself.. which, with how things are going.. I can see happening.. SOON!

I agree with everyone. Cena has to lose soon or I'll boycott the WWE. I was like everyone else hoping Orton will win but NO. Cena has to win again. He's the new Hulk Hogan. But unlike with Hogan, I'm not gonna be a folllower and like who everyone else likes (well, besides Triple H). The comebacks were the only thing that held the PPV together and the skits and Stone Cold. I thought we were to get excited about the wrestling not the skits and extra activities. Where's the tables, where's the blood, where's the great action that made WWE so good? Everything else sucked. Khali sucks and everyone knows it but nobody is big on Smackdown until Taker comes back but CM Punk losing to John Morrison again. Come on! This makes me glad I watch this at Buffalo Wild Wings because theres no damn way I'm buying another WWE event again until things change...maybe. I hoped that Summerslam, "The biggest party of the summer", would be great and bring changes. But instead it was Summerslam, "The biggest no title changes, no excitement, knee slamming party of the summer". I think that if WWE doesnt brings the action up a notch instead of the skits and extra bullshit and titles not changing hands, they're gonna get a big fat ass reality check that they can't cash. The Big One Will, I agree with you said. Fans dont hold on to what they say theyll do because yes they are wrestling fans. I'm one too but its sad to see something I love so dear and was raised on it go down like this. I'm still gonna be a loyal fan but come on WWE, have some balls! I agree also with fans who said Kennedy should've won. Yes he should've won. I also agree with El Mungo (If I got it wrong Im sorry) saying whatever happened to the unpredictability of the wwe? I thought to myself about that tonight. Well, Here's a WWE theme parody of REM's It's the end of the world as we know it

It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
It's the end of the world as we know it
Cause Cena won...AGAIN!

When you write WWE write in lower case like this wwe. Thats how shitty they've been. I MISS THE OLD DAYS. I MISS THE ATTITUDE ERA, GOOD WOMEN WRESTLING, TABLES, LADDERS, CHAIRS, BLOOD, SWEAT, GOOD MATCHES. WHERE'D IT ALL GO? UP VINCE'S ASS THATS WHERE!

i expected to see Kennedy as the new IC champion, but i guess umanga is now super over as a face...yeah right.
Rey vs Chavo was a good macth, keeping in mind that was Rey's first PPV in many months.
Khali vs Batista....i didnt see the end, honestly... I was busy with the waitress... :D But I guess it sucked as the rest of the match.
john Morrison vs CM Punk: I guess CM stands for> Common Man. Im not surprised anymore for CM punk. im glad that morrison retained, and i hope to see a very long reign.
Triple H vs booker..... DAMN! How much time can Triple h consume for his entrance? I guess it was longer than Taker's..... The match was just OK. nothing new, and another half an hour post match Triple H celebration....
Cena vs Orton was a good match, until Cena turned on his superpowers.
I'm gonna get a lot of heat for this, but I really dont care: I hope Triple H can get that damn belt ASAP, and keep it for a looong time.

Good Summerslam, no title changes, but it was good. gotta love the Jersey crowd booing Cena outta the building.

The P.P.V. Lackluster this year Just like Last year. I'm Almost ready to quit watching and get a second job and just Start reading about it untill it changes.
These matches are boring now, No Reason to pay 40 bucks for this shit.I'm buying a Game next month instead

So, another PPV goes by, and this one, in my opinion, is the worst pay per view of the year, second only to Judgement Day.

For starters, we had Kane vs Finlay. I was expecting this match to be comical, not good. Well, it sure as hell was not good, but definitely was not comical. Hornswoggle made an appearance, but didn't do anything funny. Typical Finlay's shilaleigh, typical Kane's chokeslam. Nothing surprising, but not worse than expected.

Umaga, Kennedy, Carlito - Actually not too bad of a match. Umaga did well, the other two..ennnhh...in any case, the finish was good, but I didn't like the winner - Umaga was not supposed to win - Kennedy was. That's just my view, of course.

Rey Mysterio and Chavo - I wasn't impressed with Rey in this match. He didn't do a lot of high flying, quick moves, or sped around the ring like the roadrunner. Perhaps it was because Chavo was "hurting" his knee, but I was not impressed regardless. I hope that this feud is now over, and that Rey has a lot of matches to get himself back to normal.

The Divas Battle Royal - I'm sorry, was this a match? It looked like a bunch of tits and ass to me. Not that it's a bad thing, but I'd rather buy a subscription of playboy where the primary focus isn't entertaining wrestling. Beth won, that was the only good part about it.

The Steve Austin segment was enjoyable. I'm losing my err...faithfulness with SCSA though, I don't see a point of bringing him in to stun the heel and leave again. It's not like he's getting anyone over, and it's not like he has to prove himself to get a title opportunity either. Waste of time. MVP should have had the title on the line in some way, even if it was substitution.

Morrison - Punk - I enjoyed this match. I love Morrison's weird style. It wasn't that great, but I enjoyed it regardless. Too short though, and I'm satisfied with Morrison retaining, but it's burying CM Punk in the process.

The Return of the Game - As expected, a good match. I got to see the Houston Hangover again (even though he missed), and some good wrestling. Not the best of matches, but considering that none of them really were, this could be MOTN - if only for the Game's returning match.

WHC Khali and Batista - Was there even a point in watching? It stunk up the pay per view even more than it already had been. The match was shit, possibly the worst one of all. Several boring chants, and Cole trying to cover it up "crowd getting restless because Batista is getting his ass kicked". Guess the commentators don't hear This is Boring! eh?

Cena vs Orton - I'm still fuming over this match, I'd say I'm positive that he's going to lose in September just so the WWE can say he held it for a year, but I was confident he was losing it at WrestleMania, and tonight too. Oops. It was a great match, I admit. Though I am a Cena hater in every way, Orton's 823579023508109812049819024890218590218590185 headlocks were extremely irritating. I had hoped Orton would have won it then lost immediately to HHH, but it was a good match, and they both performed well. I can't deny that. I still say Cena sucks and is a terrible wrestler regardless.

The Cryme Time backstage with the GMs were hilarious. Regal wearing a cap and dancing with them was the best part of the night.

The makeout segment with VKM ... uck, not so much. Nasty when she dived him, and even worse when Vince said he liked it. I lost my interest in my food and beer after seeing that.

Like I said at the beginning of this post - TERRIBLE pay per view. What's even worse is this is the 2nd or 3rd most important and biggest PPV of the year, and they blew it really bad. I am beyond disappointed. The main event's outcome ruined it, but then in retrospect, there wasn't much to ruin after the rest of the matches came along.

I can say I won't watch WWE anymore, I can say I'll never buy a PPV again so long as Cena is champ, but I'd be full of myself. Even though I'd like to just to get Vince's attention that they need to be better, I can't do shit about it, so I'll just stick through it and hope it turns around soon.

Grade D - No exceptions.

is it just me or does cena look more and more apathetic after every title retain? does it even feel like that much of an accomplishment? and it seemed like the crowd was just dead afterwards. that's one thing worse than an array of boo's is just no reaction. i've talked to cena fans who are even sick of seeing him with the title. i really don't mind cena, but damn dude a little change is always nice...

I Really liked the main event, I am a big Cena fan, and I did want orton to win, just so that cena could do something interesting for awhile...

HHH looked just off, off in his timing, he tried to do his moves, I dont know if it was booker or him, but there just wasnt much chemistry i guess, is this the first match he has wrestled since the injury? cuz you would think he would have been doing practice matches with someone to try to get his timing back. seems like he didnt.

stone cold was funny, and was a nice break.

diva match/kane vs Finlay were terrible just too boring...

The WHC match was just... there, didnt care either way who won, and it ended up being worse than I thought it could have been.

my biggest complaint is the CM Punk/ John Morrison match...

It was looking like it was gonna be a great match, and was really good for awhile, till it just... ENDED. very shitty ending, and as much as I am in favor of morrison getting over as a serious contender in ECW... Punk is getting all his cred destroyed. he had such momentum a couple months back, and then... Benoit goes crazy, they pull a quick switch, give nitro the title, and punk is now mid card talent in the main event scene? did he get stale? did he piss someone off? WHY THE F*CK ARE THEY BURYING HIM!???!??!?!? I just dont understand this, they talk of him being a great athelete, and a good fighter, and he beats morrison all the time... Unless the title is on the line... WTF?

I'm really F'ing frustrated with WWE and the way they are treating Punk right now...

I agree this is the first time I have seen no reaction from the fans the crowd was dead when Cena won very strange also Is Orton facing Cena for the title on Raw cuz i Have heard people say he is if so dont you think the WWE might be trying to stick it to us fans and make us pay 40 dollars to watch Orton win then see him win on Raw man id feel real dumb but honestly would you put it past them

I just dont understand this, they talk of him being a great athelete, and a good fighter, and he beats morrison all the time... Unless the title is on the line... WTF?

its the same shit with Batista and Kahli. Batista beats Kahli in house shows but when the time comes for a title match, he loses every time. Can't wait for Taker and Edge to come back and make shit interesting!

Is Orton facing Cena for the title on Raw cuz i Have heard people say he is if so dont you think the WWE might be trying to stick it to us fans and make us pay 40 dollars to watch Orton win then see him win on Raw man id feel real dumb but honestly would you put it past them

Its been rumored that the two will have a Main Event, Championship match.. but its also been said it could be a dark match. In my own, personal opinion.. W.W.E. hyped Summerslam as the return of Rey Mysterio & Triple H... they never hyped Orton winning the Championship, that all got started because Triple H. brought it up as being a great idea.

W.W.E. COULD very well have Orton win the Championship on RAW, because not only would it make everyone happy.. but if they announce at the beginning of the show that it'd happen as a main event.. their ratings should shoot through the roof, as millions who expected Orton to win last night, would once again assume he'd definately win then.

I'd fall into that catagory too. As I knew he wouldn't win at Summerslam, but I believe whole-heartedly that he will win either tomorrow night on Raw, or at Unforgiven.

I paid the 40 bucks just to see Triple H. Oddly while he looked great (not fat, teeth bleched unnatural white and fake baked orange....a hard look to own but he makes it work cause he's Triple freakin H) his match was....bad. Very off. No chemistry between he and Booker. Best part of the whole thing was his entrance and exit just because he took extra time and ya know I paid just for that so sue me if I want some extra poses and crotch chops. The crowd didnt pop like I assumed they would. So weird....that match was just weird. Kinda out of sync. As kayfabe JR would say....ring rust. I expected more but oh well.

I actually enjoyed the Diva Battle Royale, it was fun and quick and no one sucked overly so. Stone Cold was a plus too.

Cena vs Orton. SIGH. So obvious...so anti climatic although it looked okay. I thought it was evenly carried and they worked well together.

Anyway I would not have purchased it if Triple H wasent there (havent bought a PPV since his injury) so over all I give it a 4 out of 10.

I kinda wonder if Summerslam went the way it did strictly to make people tune into RAW tomorrow for retribution. I don't think Vince is AS worried about buy rates for PPV's as he is ratings on USA / SciFi right now with a 3-hour slot being requested. And with such a let down in the PPV, I'll be one of the ones watching tomorrow.

The lasting image of this PPV: John Cena holding the title belt in the air triumphantly. All the hype of the title change coming, all of it...and we get this. I'd say it's a brilliant move by the WWE to make us pay to see an 'obvious' title change and then have Cena win, but really, that wasn't business related, they just like toying with all the fans by doing this.

I really hope the NJ crowd gave Cena a heap of shit after the match. What the hell needs to be done to get the WWE to take the title off of him? It seems like every PPV is the 'perfect time' to take the title off of him, and Cena always retains after making the other guy look weak, and then beating him with the patented F-U. What was different about SummerSlam? Absolutely nothing.

Another PPV with no title changes. And they wonder why people don't buy their PPV's anymore. It's become way too predictable. Now, World Titles (except the WWE title, which never changes) are being changed on the weekly shows, which is absolutely pointless.

Let's start off with match number one: Finlay vs Kane.

Another match that we've seen a million times already, that we are expected to shell out money for. If they want to make it interesting, build a real feud around this, not something where Kane just beats up Finlay a few weeks out from the PPV.

Umaga retains the title against Kennedy and Carlito. Can't say I'm surprised, but I heard reports that this match was rather short. Umaga is a more suitable champion then either of the contenders, and so I think they should keep it on Umaga until he develops himself enough to be in the main event level. That being said, it will do nothing for the belt if they decide to push him to main event status while still holding the belt, and unless we see a proper feud over it, it's pointless having him on there. There's a division waiting to be used, I hope they use it. And that being said, I hope they are not just fed to Umaga like they always are. The only thing surprising was that Kennedy took the clean pin.

The diva battle royal. Boring. Now it seems they are covering up the women's lack of talent by throwing them all in a battle royal where ring skills are irrelevant. How many battle royals have we seen lately? Too many, and I'm not going to pay for something like this. Phoenix now takes a step forward...to be fed to Candice Michelle again. I can't remember the last time I actually watched a women's match, and I'm glad I didn't pay to see this one.

Mysterio vs Guerrero. I was surprised at the lack of attention this match really got. To me, it was all about HHH at this PPV, and Mysterio barely got a sniff of the limelight anywhere other than 5 minutes on SmackDown. The match sounded decent, and all in all, there was nothing too bad about all this, other than the lack of buildup it had compared to other matches. Look for this feud to continue hopefuly. SmackDown needs it. Best match from SmackDown on the card.

Punk loses to Morrison AGAIN. My God, does Vince have some vendetta against Punk? If I'm aware of it, Punk can no longer challenge Morrison while he holds the title. Leave Punk, just leave. I have no problem with Morrison, but why not give Punk a go for Christ's sake? He's the most over guy on the brand, and he doesn't get half the attention someone like Snitsky or Umaga gets. The fans want to see him as champion, and all they are doing is burying him. Punk and Morrison only got 7 minutes as well. Their feud was one I was just starting to enjoy on ECW, and this is what they get? If anyone is going to replace Punk now against Morrison, I pray that it is Tommy Dreamer, and he gets one last shot with the title he helped create. If not him…then I am fearful of who may be next in line. Miz? Please no. There is no face right now other than Dreamer who could be a title contender. Boogeyman? I can probably see that happening. But Punk should be given an opportunity at this title. He’s had three shots and was pinned each time. Man are they trying to kill him.

Khali vs. Batista. I don’t even want to comment on this match. A DQ finish at a PPV. How many of those have we seen in the past few years? I miss the days of Angle and Lesnar over on SmackDown. They’ve now been replaced by these two. Whoever voted for this match as most anticipated matchup, really needs to ask themselves whether they know a lot about wrestling. I really hope Khali goes back to movies and Batista injures his quad again. Why do all the good wrestlers have to get injured? And why do all the shit wrestlers steal their spots?

Triple H beating King Booker. To me, it sounded like this was some sort of squash match in a way. Just sounded like HHH got a lot of offence in. Can’t say I thought that Booker had any chance in this one though, and now begins the winning streak of Triple H. I think they should stick to this feud, because if HHH can actually make Booker look good, it could be a feud of the year candidate. If Booker is turned into mincemeat for HHH to devour, then we’re all going to be pissed.

I’ve been through Cena vs. Orton, and don’t want to talk about it further. Let’s just say that I’m not one happy camper with the result of this match, although it’s happened so often that I log on to WWE.com when I get home from school on a Monday, after the PPV, and the first thing I see is Cena holding the title in the air. Where’s the shot of Cena lying in a pool of his own blood, with the challenger holding the title above him? Good on you WWE. You got our hopes up of a title change yet again, and screwed most of us out of our money, and eventually screwed us over. If I looked at this from a business point of view, I’d say McMahon was a genius. If I looked at this from my (the wrestling fan’s) point of view, I’d say ‘McMahon, you’re a fucking wanker’. Ladies and gentlemen, I can now confirm that John Cena, will forever be here as…’The Champ’. Let’s get used to it.

To sum this up, I would call Summerslam "Sunday Night Raw".

Kane vs. Finlay - It was a good match, but not great. It was nice to see Kane get a clean win.
Umaga vs. Carlito vs. Bastard Child - By the numbers triple threat. Not great, not bad, just good.
Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero - Ray's silver paint challenged his ridiculous Wrestlemania headdress the year he won the title for the most ridiculous ring attire ever. This match, while by the numbers, was still a very high quality match from two of their most talented stars.
Diva Battle Royal - Take it as a positive that Beth Phoenix won. This may signal a return to better female wrestling.
John Morrison vs. CM Punk - Morrison is the real deal. WWE has a bonafide star on their hands. He could main event WM one day.
Beer Drinking - Saw it coming, Austin's calisthenics were funny.
HHH vs. King Booka - What a dog of a match. I hope HHH can learn how to keep his pre and post match posing to under 10 minutes from now on. Yes, you're back. Yes, you're over. On a side note, if the projected McMahon clan vs. Kennedy feud goes down, it could be great. The only mistake that bookers are going to make is that thinking Kennedy will be the heel. Once Stephanie gets involved, the fans will turn on the McMahons and fans will mark out for Kennedy like never before.
Great Khali vs. Batista - My expectations were very low, so I enjoyed this match for what it is worth. Look for a cage match between these two at Unforgiven, or even better, a Punjabi Prison Match!!!!
Cena vs. Orton - Great match, with one complaint. Orton dominated the match. If you want Cena to have a believable win:
1. Let him carry more offense.
2. Give him a better finisher than the FU, which I could kick out of. It is the weakest finisher since Rock's People's Elbow. The FU is a body slam. Cena kicks out of an RKO. The FU breaks the suspension of disbelief with the audience. I don't care that Cena won, I just think it was a lame finish to a very good match.

I was very disappointed in this PPV. I cant think of a bigger waste of $40.

Kane-Finlay: Enjoyable enough, I think they are both underrated. Kane isnt what he used to be, but he can still put on a good match

Umaga-Kennedy-Carlito: I'm not sure what Carlito was doing in this match, but it wasnt bad. I like Umaga and I'm glad he won.

Diva Battle Royale: Whatever. I dont even know why they bother having Diva matches anymore. The crowd uses the opportunity to take a nap.

Austin Beer Drinking: An enjoyable segment. Kind of predictable (as evidenced by the crowd chanting "Austin, Austin" almost as soon as the saw the cooler) but fun

Mysterio-Chavo: I was a bit disappointed in this match. Rey definitely looked out of shape, and obviously was not his normal self.

CM Punk-John Morrison: This was one probably the biggest disappointment. I really like both these guys. I was looking forward to this match and thought it would be the best match of the night. I love both of their finishers, but unfortunately (as has been the case a lot recently) got to see neither of them. They had a decent match going, but my god that ending killed it.

HHH-Booker: I'm glad Triple H is back, but just like Rey you could tell he was a bit off. The match was enjoyable enough, but I'm pretty confident a Presidential term was served during HHH's entrance and exit

Khali-Batista: This was just awful. 5 minutes of Khali pinching Batista's nech, a spinebuster, and a DQ. Absolutely awful. When I spent the entire match wondering "who's worse, Khali or Giant Gonzalez?" you know it was a shit match. A DQ in a World Championship match, I cant believe I paid $40 for this crap

Cena-Orton: Ugh. I literally almost cried when Cena won. I am sooooooooooooooooooo fucking sick of him I wanna puke everytime he does the Peoples El....sorry 5 Knuckle Shuffle. TAKE THE FUCKING BELT OFF OF HIM!!!!!! OR AT LEAST TURN HIM HEEL!!!! EVERYONE HATES HIM, STOP TRYING TO FORCE HIM DOWN OUR THROATS AND MAKE HIM THE NEXT ROCK/AUSTIN!!!!

Fucking terrible PPV

There is no face right now other than Dreamer who could be a title contender. Boogeyman? I can probably see that happening.

Well if Hornswoggle is Cruiserweight, then something as ridiculous as boogeyman being next contender is something i can see happening.

Very disappointing PPV

Kane-Finlay: decent match. I still believe Kane should be given the Title on SD! rather than Khali.

Umaga-Kennedy-Carlito: Good match, but short. It's good that Kennedy lost so they can focus on the Illegimate Child Storyline.

Diva Battle Royale: Not much to say, just your regular Diva Match. Good to see a real Diva fighter win in Beth Phoenix.

Austin Beer Drinking: Good segment. To be honest I didn't expect Austin until Hardy mentioned a substitute. Glad to see Austin and the warmup was great.

Mysterio-Chavo: To me an OK match. I couldn't stand the silver paint on Mysterio.

CM Punk-John Morrison: I don't really follow ECW, but from what I have read, Punk is getting buried pretty bad. The finish was not done well, and it was a short match. I still can't see Morrison the ECW champ either.

HHH-Booker: Love the fact that Triple H is back. Obvious win here. It's good that King Booker didn't get squashed because that would of taken some credibility away from him. This fued can go on a little longer and make some decent matches.

Khali-Batista: Terrible match. Khali and Batista can't wrestle and when you put them together, a recipe for disaster. Stupid finish and a terrible looking spear from Batista. There are better options for the Title than these two. I can't wait for The Undertaker to come back.

Cena-Orton: I really thought Orton was going to win. It was a good match with Orton on offence most of the time. I don't hate Cena, but enough is enough. He's had the title too long, they make it seem like he is superman, the crowd is against him, just take the belt from him and make him chase it. A good twist would be to make him heel, but whatever. I guess he has to lose it sometime, I hope.

Overall, not a great PPV, but good enough I guess. It had potential and it should of been great, especially since it's the 2nd Biggest PPV, but with no titles switches, it was just average. I was really excited to see this PPV too, but was disappointed.

Was it just me or was the Batista/Khali "match" about six minutes long? And half of it was Khali trying to hurt Batista's shoulders. That was pathetic! I had to stay up until four in the morning to watch that!?

Then there was Orton/Cena which was a pretty awful match as there was no back and forth. It was mostly just Orton choking Cena, Cena did about three real moves in the entire match!

The most disappointing Pay-Per-View in recent years. Even Rey's comeback was spoiled by how fat he is and the stupid, silver body paint that started running off him anyway.

Almost forgot...

Hot damn, I'm Mrs. Sam!!

Kane-Finlay just a last minute match thrown in because hardy-mvp coulsnt go down. it was pretty decent for being just last minute and like kane alot so i guess it worekd out

Umaga-Carlito-Kennedy I really though kennedy was going to win this, but i guess hes got a big push comming up. The guys had potential to put on a great match and inseatd put on a ok one.

Mysterio-Chavo Didnt like the silver paint thing mysterio had going on but w/e glad hes back. I might turn to smackdown a little more often now. Was it me or did anyone else get the feeling that this crwod just wasnt into it? Hardly a pop for mysterio. But at least the match was good.

Diva Battle Royal not much u can say i guess, we all knew it would either be victoria mickie james or beth pheonix, so when beth was the only one of the three left it was already over.

MVP challegne OF course we cant go one day without a challenge...but
w/e, austin is a beast and i am always thrilled to see him.

Morrison-Cm Punk Good match, not wat i was expecting, sloppy ending kinda put the whole match in a funk when looking back at it.

HHH-Booker i was so ready for another MSG return for HHH, and to say the least i was dissapointed. Crowd not even close but again just happy to c HHH back, i think he will get a better reaction at his first few raws when he gets back on the mike.

kahli-Batista Saw a bad match comming but wow....wow....Kahli cant even take a spear right, i mean how r we supposed to beleive anyone can beat him. And why does he think 'he couldnt beat batiata' after the choke slam. Go for that damn claw u have been building up the last month. Even though i would of been PISSED if he won that way, wouldnt it make sense to use the move that you have b hyping?

Cena-Orton Orton beats up cean the wohle time, cena FU's him once and wins. I wanted orto to win sooo bad, not that i like him its just that i hate cena. The match was good and fairly long but just dissapointing. I guess the want cena to have a year reign and HH to take it form him at unfrogiven or cyber sunday

Kane vs Finlay: This match was allright, as it was only put together last minute. Glad to see Kane get the win, he deserves a title push now.

Umaga vs Kennedy vs Carlito: This match was ok, nothing great. Would have liked to have Carlito win the title, as im still not a huge fan of Umaga having a title.

Rey Mysterio vs Chavo Guerrero: Im surprised the crowd didnt pop that much. His return wasnt hyped nearly as much as it should have been, which is probably part of the reason. The silver bodypaint thing was cool, adds a twist. It was a decent match, considering its Mysterio's first match, not including the live event ones. This fued should carry on for a month at the most.

Diva Battle Royal: You needed divas at Summerslam, and I guess this was the best they could do. Still think Candice needs to loose the title, and hopefully with Beth on the title, her and Mickie James can have a good fued.

Beer Drinking Contest: This was cool, always good when Austin returns. Funny when he did the press-ups n' the star jumps. Good little segment.

John Morrison vs CM Punk: Decent match, some good spots. But to be honest, we needed a title change to make it intresting. Hopefully Punk wins it soon.

Triple H vs King Booker: I expected the crowd to go crazy for HHH, but it was pretty average. I was hoping for a MSG reaction, but got nothing like that. The match was ok, HHH still showing ring rust, but that was expected. Should be a good feud between these two.

The Great Khali vs Batista: Terrible, simply terrible. Very slow match, and both cant wrestle. Batista shoudnt be in the title picture. Bring in Kane. Get Khali off TV.

John Cena vs Randy Orton: Orton carried this match the whole way through. It was a pathetic ending to be honest, one FU and its over? Im sorry but im fed up of Cena being shoved down my throat every f****** week. He was ok as champion for a while, and understandable because he gains the most money, but for Gods sake, GET THE TITLE OFF HIM! Its so boring, and its making a lot of wrestling fans turn to TNA. Orton would have been a good choice aswell, it had the potential to make many good fueds. And putting Orton on the title would improve his backstage behavior, because he has more responsibility. Im sorry, but if Cena dosent loose the title soon, the WWE will loose a lot of fans.

Not a great PPV, I stayed up till 4AM here in England to watch this, and it was not worth the £15. (Thats bout $30 for you in America). I would give this a 4/10 at the most. Either that, or a 3/10. The WWE needs to sort its act out, fast.
