[OFFICIAL] Sheamus is the New WWE Champion

I was more surprised by Sheamus winning due to the fact I'm not sure he should be headlining Summerslam as I don't expect him to drop the belt at the Money in the Bank ppv. Rey Mysterio winning tonight wasn't shocking due to the fact Summerslam is in L.A. where Rey has a huge following and could end up being the final chapter of the Rey vs CM Punk feud, hopefully in a ladder match or another match that can bring the best out of both of them.

i was at the event tonight. i thought it was solid. Shocked sheamus won the belt not so much for rey. Best part of the night was jericho promo even though all the kids in the stands didnt have a clue what they were hearing. sheamus doesnt do it for me. i dont believe he has the same drawing power as some guys but we will see in future months what hes capable of becoming

i think that its great that sheamus won. i was behind him since he moved over to raw. he has always been great and different imo. this definitely opens up more feuds. cena vs nxt, orton or edge vs sheamus (the fans are still behind edge), and of course the obligatory cena vs sheamus fued. its a nice change to say the very least.

on a side note: anyone else notice that Matt Boone started calling r-truth Kingston within a couple sentences into the match and continued to call him kingston throughout? thats an embarrassing mess-up, lol.

Sheamus winning the title tonight was a bit of a shocker, but I can't wait to see where they go from here. Better yet, I can't wait to see whats next for Cena (Which is a first for me) anyway yeah I thought Edge was going to walk away champion like most of us probably did, but this leaves the door wide open for a huge fued between orton and edge possible going into SummerSlam, which would be epic. I see Sheamus going on to face Wade Barrett at MITB and (God I dont want this to happen, but it probably will) Sheamus vs. HHH at SummerSlam. But then again if you think about WWE and their Gimmick PPV's you'll know that there's gonna be 2 MITB matches (One for RAW and one for SmackDown) so you can't count out the possibility of whoever wins the MITB match cashing in at SummerSlam. Things are looking up for Monday nights. For the first time in a very long while I'm actually intrested on what's going to happen onRaw.

well now that cena will feud with the nxt guys will it be just him and he'll face barret or will we see like Mark henry, orton, edge, bourne, r-truth, cena and someone else feud with them or just cena

I just finished reading the result, didn't like the ending to the John Cena vs Orton vs Edge vs Shame-us, (yeah I really don't like the guy) it's just an opinion, I think it would have been better if the nxt continued the beatdown, and take off with the belt, resulting in a Wade vs Cena feud and Wade winning it, but that's just me! As for Rey winning, it should have been the big show, something new and exciting instead of "the same underdog" routine over and over again!

I can say I don't think it's as terrible as Mysterio winning the WHC. I don't know, my hatred for Sheamus has lessened, so it really doesn't bother me all that much.

I hope this sets up a good feud, hopefully with Orton. I think these two can really take it to one another, in a rather brutal fashion. But I'm betting this will be Sheamus vs. Cena, all the way through Summerslam.

I am with everyone in hoping that Sheamus gets a great run this time around.

Here is what I am hoping to see...

1. Cena gets wrapped up in the NXT fued and Sheamus successfully defends the title in Cena's rematch

2. Supposing HHH makes it back by Summerslam, Sheamus is put over at Summerslam by HHH possibly in a cage.

3. It would be great to see a MITB winner try to cash in by actually challanging in a scheduled match at a PPV. So the Raw MITB winner (Evan Bourne??) challenges and comes up short.

4. Undertaker is a 'surprise' entrant in the Royal Rumble. I would love to see the American Bad Ass Undertaker come back after the 'vegatative' state angle passes.

5. Undertaker beats Shaemus at WM27. It may not be anywhere near the level of match he had with HBK, but I am excited thinking about the possibilty of Undertaker vs. Shaemus

YES!!!!

I marked out when Sheamus won. He definitely has earned another title reign and this was a great way to solidify him as a main event player for life. Great decision. Sheamus can really use the belt. I'm not really a fan of Edge, and Orton doesn't need the belt quite yet.

Sheamus needs to have a strong title reign to build up his credibility even more. They need to throw all their weight behind him. He's young, he's fresh, he's unique. Now he needs to look as credible as Orton or Cena.

I'm excited on seeing how he'll interact with the NXT Radicals. They helped him pick up the win so either he's going to thank them or he's going to take them all out. I can't wait for RAW tomorrow to see!

I'm curious to see where the WWE goes with this. Cena seems primed to feud with the NXT group but it also makes a lot of sense to have him feud with Sheamus over the title. There may be a chance at a Cena vs Sheamus vs Barrett match in the near future. I could also just see the NXT faction moving away from Cena more so he and Sheamus can have their feud.

just getting home from this event and man, i've never seen Cena get booed like he did tonite. they booed his ass every chance they got. i was sitting there in amazement at how many people were chanting "YOU CAN'T WRESTLE". he even addressed the crowd when everone cleared the ring and defended himself and the WWE against the actions of the wanna-be next NWO guys, NXT. however, much of the crowd wasn't feeling him and basically told him to fuck off. the only thing that drowned out the boos was the loud music. after being live at an event, i can see why parents got upset at the first beatdown of Cena a couple of weeks back. there were tons of little ones there in Cena gear. shit, my two guys are Cena fans and man the looks on their faces when Cena got jumped were priceless. the little ones love this guy. too bad i guess, lol. overall, it was a great show. GO SHEAMUS !

For the moment i LOVE the fact Sheamus won the belt, although when HHH returns we'll see just how much i love it,considering i hate how HHH is now pretty much a LOCK to win the belt back at Summerslam or NOC depending on how generous HHH feels towards him.And i do like the fact that (since many people seem to compare the Rock to)Cena(as far as the whole charisma thing goes) has found his version of Stone Cold in Sheamus.

I was totally shocked that sheamus won. I dont buy his credibility just yet. keep in mind his only real win is against Triple H and his ppv record isnt great. Beat Cena in tables match, beat orton by DQ, lost elimination chamber, and lost to Triple H at Wrestlemania. He hasnt had that over the top great match to propel him into upper card status. However good win for him.
I wanted to comment about Cena and the constant back and forth chants between the real fans(the kids cheering for him) and the fake fans(booing against him). you have a right to an opinion however during the main event match that was actually really good, the constant back and forth ruined it for me, even edge and orton kinda stopped to figure out what was going on. It ruined the match for me. The nxt angle is great, but Cena deserves better from the fake fans. am not a mark for him at all. i am a mark for good entertaining matches.

ok so sheamus won- sets up a plan for him and triple h to go at it... cena (as reported on here) is possibly set to face wade barrett for the rest of the summer, so that leaves orton and edge to face sheamus right now... i do believe on of them is going to join cena in his fight against NXT and barrett, and i also believe the nxt is going to have a leader thats a veteran... that aside i think its going to be sheamus vs edge for awhile, as its something that hasnt been done since sheamus was on raw and edge on smackdown... its a different title scene and its refreshing... the one big surprise i had with the finish of this event was that sheamus one and ran from the ring, then it ended.... 30 freaking minutes earlier.... WTF!!!!! anyways... sheamus as champ not a bad thing... not a great thing either...

Awesome win for Sheamus. Since he lost the Title the first time, he's really done a great job at building himself up into a better wrestler. After all, he put Triple H out of action. Now I'm hoping for a new era of domination, this time with the WWE Championship in hand.

After reading the results I like what happened. Rey deserves the title one more time and I think it sets up a continuation of his rivalry with Punk to continue some more. I do think Punk will end up with the title and that is when the other member of the SES will finally be revealed.

As far as Sheamus winning I was a bit surprised because I do think NXT should have stolen the belt or something to add more intrigue, but I do like that Cena lost the title. I do like Cena, but feel his character needs a change or something. I hope Sheamus keeps the title for a while and do think his mic skills have improve a little bit. I also would love to see some midcarders come up and challenge him like Morrison and MVP to add some new blood to the title picture. It is time to see what some of the younger guys have and this maybe the opportunity to give them a shot to see how they do.

Either way I think this PPV has provided an opportunity for some changes and gives the creative team new ideas in the future. Let's hope they make the most of it.

I'm also glad Sheamus won because I like the dude, he reminds me of the type of heel they had in the late eighties, like Haku or Barbarian or Power and Glory. He'd totally be managed by Heenan if he had been around back then, or maybe Jimmy Hart. I really miss the days when the WWF had the huge stables, it made for some interesting feuds and sneak attacks. As for Cena losting the title, I also like Cena and think he's a better role model than Hogan ever was. But he could use a little upgrade and I just think they should put him on Smackdown and do the PG thing over there, and bring Raw back to its PG-13 days.

I realize they have sponsors to worry about and Linda's political career, but I'd love to see buried alive matches again, or watch Undertaker throw wrestlers off the top of the cage again.

I was watching that old match where he tossed Mankind off the top, then tombstoned him onto tacks.. and that match was just soo cool.

Love to see those types of matches again. I mean ok, they were comic book like but it's the WWE, suspension of disbelief shouldn't be an issue.

I really wanna just say "TOO MANY LIES" but i'll contribute

Sheamus has actually earned my admiration in the past few months(Who the hell do I think I am?)He's been picking up great heat since he put out HHH and his momentum seems to be unstoppable. Now that he has the WWE Title I hope he'll have a longer more fulfilling feud with Cena. The first time Cena said he was going to war with him,it didn't last. This time,i really want to see them clash in some really major contests over the next few months or so.

I am thrilled Sheamus won the title. First off everyone is saying I wish NXT ran off with the title and that is exactly why they didn't. Everyone expected it. It is when they surprise you like with the Sheamus win it makes good wrestling. Anyways what I think is going to happen is we will find out Sheamus is the leader of the NXT group saying how he knows how to make a impact during your rookie year that is why he is leading this faction. He is going to make sure these rookies make a impact in the WWE. This will allow Sheamus and Cena to continue there feud while continue the NXT vs CENA/Raw Feud. Plus when HHH comes back he will back Cena up.

Unfortunately,I think Shamus's will be a transitional champ this time around. It sucks because I really think Shamus could be the new dominate heel in the WWE.:banghead: Shamus will probably have another short crapy tittle rein. He is only keeping it warm for Barrett who is going to win the tittle at the next PPV. I think Barrett is going to threaten WWE by clamming he is going to take the tittle to another promotion."TNA" Then Cena will have a feud with Barrett to get the top prize back in the WWE.

On a side note...I really hate the way they book Cena. Don't get me wrong, I do like the end of the PPV. But why couldn't the attack happen after Cena got beat by one of the other guys and pinned cleanly? When is the last time this guy lost a match clean? IMO.. They took the tittle off of Cena tonight because Barrett is getting it at the next PPV. I don't think they want there top guy "Cena", being beat by a rookie "Barrett", for the WWE tittle. It would make Cena look weak. And we just can't have that.. :disappointed:

First off, great ppv! Classic action thru out even though r truth vs the miz was boring. Cena finally lost! Woo hoo!! I was thrilled when the ref made the 3 count and declared a knew wwe champ. I was hoping orton will win but im happy cena lost. I just hate that guy. Nxt graduates were at it again. I love this new concept! But something is telling me sheamus is behind all this.. Gotta wait and see tonight.. I hope cena stays out of the title pic for a while. We need new faces. I was dissapointed with evan bourne defeating jericho though.. He doesnt seem to be that guy just yet.. Big show should have won.. Hes the giant of the wwe and is supposed to be unstoppable yet he got knocked out with a barely touching 619??? hmmmmm... I cant wait for raw! I bet its going to be full of surprises..

Cheers!

"Open your eyes and see me blossom cause im me and im AAAAWESOME!!"

Congrats for sheamus for winnin the title. I have no ultimate haterage against any pf them. My picks were Edge (1st) or Sheamus (2nd) to win the it. I think the leader of the NXT Radicals might be Sheamus?, Triple H?, or Chris Jericho?. Will have to wait on that. I think the 1st in line should be Goldie as he was the 1 who gave him his 1st loss in the WWE.

Plus Rey get's an actual 2nd WHC wow. The 1st 1 would of been not his if Eddie was still alive as the 1 was a pity reign.

My favourite part of Sheamus winning the title last night - as you might have guessed from my signature - was the NXT Rookies chasing him away after he pinned Cena; and then chasing him away again after he came out to celebrate with the belt. Priceless.

After Cena got beat down, I was expecting referees to flood the ring and the bell to start ringing and the match to be thrown out. Needless to say, Sheamus sneaking the pin was a pleasant surprise.

Agreed. I LOL'd when Sheamus bolted right after he got the pin, and I LOL'd even harder when he came back again to gloat.

Sheamus winning the match was absolutely amazing!

I was in a MSN chat with some of the guys around here and all of us had the exact same shocked reaction when Sheamus climbed on top of Cena and stole the win. Honestly, it was one of the best swerves I have seen in recent times with the WWE and I think it will be fun to see how Sheamus runs with this. What will be interesting is how the NXT rookies deal with Sheamus. You see, Cena is a face, almost, and attacking him was just getting them over as heels. However, when you attack Sheamus though, nothing is really accomplished unless they are beating down faces too.

Last night, Sheamus made a statement and I was very happy to see him win the Championship. I think his first reign was definitely cut short and it would have been intriguing to see where he would have went with it. I honestly didn't expect him to cover Cena though. The WWE usually like to have the winner pin someone other than the Champion so that they can immediately go into the feud between the new Champion and the former Champion. However, I have a feeling that John Cena will be the one dealing with the NXT guys from here on out and Sheamus will just go about feuding with someone else. I could be wrong though.
