[OFFICIAL] Husky Harris / Cody Rhodes Discussion Thread

Ah look: another odd couple pairing. Harris is completely worthless to me. His spot is there because of his father and little more. He's out of shape, he has nothing of interest about him, he can't talk, his look is just worthless and there's nothing with any kind of value to him. In case you can't tell, I do not like this guy at all. He's somehow less interesting than Lucky Cannon, which I didn't think was possible. I'll chill on him in a day or so, but at the moment I just cannot stand this guy.

I think you're being way, way too harsh on the kid KB. We've seen what, a grand total of about maybe 20-25 minutes of the kid on our TV screens in the ring and on the mic? Shit that's probably a huge overestimate, probably more like 10 minutes total. That's hardly enough time to be able to judge the kid and slam the metaphorical gavel down on his career already dude. I agree with you that he's out of shape, that's fairly obvious, but I don't see why that's such a problem. Many "out of shape" wrestlers of the past have been some of the biggest successes in wrestling history (Dusty Rhodes, Junkyard Dog, etc). I don't mind that he's out of shape if he develops a strong character, but its WAY too soon to be able to judge that aspect. I liked that he talked back to Matt Striker this week and put on the cocky-heel bravado during tonight's show, but we'll have to see if he that develops into anything interesting over a sustainable period.

He's really not that bad man, and I haven't seen nearly enough of his work in the ring or on the mic to be able to judge him properly. I'll agree with you though 100% that the only reason he's on TV right now is because of his family's legacy, but shit, I don't remember hearing any complaints when Randy Orton or The Rock were being given big breaks over others who seemingly had worked harder or had more talent.

We'll see what happens with Husky. He could make a good enforcer/strongman type character for a stable, but I'm not sure about anything outside of that.

I admit, its taking me a little bit to warm up to these rookies this season, considering the fact that they have to try to outdo the Season one kids and what's going on now.
But with Husky, I see a bit of a moral dilemma with him, the pros challenged them at the beginning regarding the Nexus group's actions. Then you have Husky who wants to stand for something, call me crazy, but if I saw my old man (IRS) taken out in the ring the night before, I'd be pretty ticked off and want it to account for something and want to have it be a part of a story line. Not part of this 'Dashing' Cody Rhodes thing. I see great potential in him, but, unfortunately, I think this is being done wrong with him.

I don't understand. I figured the IWC of all people would embrace him. He's actually different, something we're always yapping about. He stands out, and would stand out among the superstars. Just from his look, we know that he could be a jolly face (that I would much prefer over someone like mark henry) or a menacing heel. Plus, we have seen and will likely continue to see that he can go in the ring.

If anything, his weight is a selling point. Angles write themselves. Husky gets bullied about his weight, or throws his weight around. Not to mention that he would be memorable to the casual fan. There are too many clean-shaven, short-haired, musclebound guys out there. People would remember the sight of Husky Harris, and that's a good thing. I'd like to see Harris go far.

I have really enjoyed the transformation that Windham Rotunda has gone through. In FCW, he was a joke along with his brother Bo. They were a face tag team that had no direction. I believe that Windham was actually a trainer in FCW until he got called up. I think it was supposed to be his brother Bo that was going to be called up but he got injured. When this happened, the older brother got called up and now he is ranked 7th in the Pros Poll.

From a face in FCW to a heel in NXT, Husky Harris still needs to refine his character. In the first two episodes, he was sporting a leather jacket that just didn't do anything for him. After the attack on Matt Striker, Harris went Heel and started to wear t-shirts with a "Husky" on them. This is funny because I thought this is what he should have done in the first place. He shouldn't be husky because he's fat but Husky because he's like a wolf; big and fast. I believe that he needs to play off the wolf persona more. Maybe he could howl in the beginning of his matches. Kids would love that.

Husky definitely must improve on the mic in order to get noticed. I do not like that he says a few things and then gives the mic over to Striker. If he wants to get noticed by the fans and to be taken seriously by the fans, he needs to start opening his mouth and spewing venom. Otherwise, he'll get voted off next week and if he ever does get a job in the WWE, he'll be relegated to an enforcer role.

Husky definitely has evolved since his days at FCW but if wants to really be a threat in this competition, his mic skills need to improve and his heel tactics and persona need to evolve.

Yes I understand that Husky is, well for better use of the word: fat. But this shouldn't stop him from being a legitimate threat in this competition. If you think this is a hinderer, you're doing the same thing that creative does when they think that Evan Bourne, Bryan Danielson and Kaval can't compete and be relevant in the WWE. They thought that smaller people can't draw but they have now come to their senses and are giving pushes to Bourne and have brought up great small wrestlers in Danielson and Kaval.

Maybe it's time for you guys to come to your senses as well. Yes, Husky is fat, but that shouldn't stop you from liking this guy any less. He has the in ring skill to compete and looks hungry to make it in this business.

I'm a big supporter of Husky Harris. He has the size and athleticism that makes him a unique competitor.
Weighing in at close to 300 pounds, the NXT Rookie certainly has a size advantage over some of his competitors, but his athletic achievements are most impressive. Harris is a former high school wrestling state champion, a junior college All-American football player, and also played at Troy University in college football’s highest level, Division I. With his eyes set on becoming WWE’s next breakout star, Husky Harris may be an unstoppable force.

A tank with a Ferrari engine. A hungry lone wolf. Husky has the bloodlines and is accomplished in the ring (he wouldn't be a trainer in FCW if he wasn't). I want to see more of Husky Harris and I don't want him to be eliminated just yet. He has shown more character and had more of an impact than Lucky Cannon and Eli Cottonwood combined. Husky may not be the next Samoa Joe but I see him as a legit competitor in NXT and in the WWE.

Husky is getting better each week, but I still don't see him going too far in this competition or in the WWE. He is decent on the microphone and is average in the ring, but he is just plain boring. I don't even find it his fault as he got a crappy name, a crappy gimmick, and a pro who's character is the complete opposite of him. I'm glaf that creative is trying to give him a heel push on NXT, but I just can't see it going too far.

Prediction: Fifth Place and career midcarder at best.

This video and quote from the homepage of Wrestlezone should reiterate what I said earlier; that Husky Harris is a unique talent but is just rough around the edges. With a little smoothing out, he could become something special and WWE officials and WWE veterans see this as well.

It's being reported that WWE officials are high on NXT rookie Husky Harris at the moment. Internally, the feeling is that Harris has the "it factor," and some are even comparing him to ring legend Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes was known of course for having a terrible looking physique, but was a gifted wrestler and was quicker and more athletic than his appearance led on. At this point, WWE officials consider Husky Harris to be the stand out performer amongst the season 2 rookies.

He reminds me a bit of Trevor Murdoch with his physique. But as we know he and Cade didn't last long. Anyway, it doesn't matter one bit that Husky is fat, if he continues to impress in the ring and shows personality. Dusty Rhodes was and is an obese man, but he could wrestle decently and he had loads of charisma. Now he's a Hall of Famer. Lucky Cannon looks like a male model, but he hasn't shown himself to be near Husky's level in the ring, or any better on promos. Having a six pack is nice but it doesn't make you a good wrestler or talker.

i don't really like husky, but i won't deny his talent. he's got good mic skills, is faster than he looks, isn't half bad, and has gotten me to dislike him through the character he's been playing. however i wouldn't pick him over alex riley or kaval or michael mcgillicutty to win the competition.

Back at the start of this season, I thought that this pairing would be boring and uninteresting. But now I look back at my young, naive self of a month ago and think "how wrong was I?".

Not only has Cody Rhodes (sorry- 'Dashing' Cody Rhodes) impressed me since he moved to SmackDown, i've started to come round to Husky Harris. His character works ten times better as a heel than as a face. I and i'm sure most people expected him to be an 'everyman' type character because of the way he looks. But I like him as an arrogant, cheating heel. I can't put my finger on why it works, but it just does.
People criticised Harris for not having the 'WWE look'. Yes, he's fat and has the face of an overgrown baby but he is different in a good way. And that good difference sets him apart from the others on the WWE Roster.

Oh, and i'm even starting to come round to his name. It suits him down to the ground.

I realized recently that this pairing is absolutely perfect.

On one hand, you have "Dashing" Cody Rhodes. The good-looking superstar. The divas swoon over him and he is full of himself and highly concerned with his looks. On the other hand, you have Husky Harris. The overweight guy who pretty much acts like trash. The contrast in this pairing could not get any better. We havent seen it play out on NXT, but it is definitely there. I expect something good to happen between Cody and Husky very soon.

This pairing has improved mightily over the past few weeks, mainly due to Cody Rhodes, as I still don't see much out of Husky, but this could be a great pairing when this season is over due to their differences.

Husky Harris has potential but his mic work is average at best, and his rings skills are ok but his athleticism for being such a big dude makes his work look a little better then it is. Husky will be a midcarder and I see him being Rhodes bodyguard when he first enters into the WWE, as he will need a way to enter the WWE especially if officials are high on him and that is his golden ticket in.

Seriously seeing half of you talk about "he's good for an overweight wrestler"... I will agree this guy is 1000 times better than Cottonwood but hey so is a tampon, and that's a whole other kind of cotton... But I digress, Rotunda couldn't hold Samoa Joe's jock strap. This guy, Lucky Cannon, and Eli Cottonwood need to leave this show and let the real talent be showcased.

Regardless of whether you like him or not, he's definitely going to be staying, so get used to it. Apparently creative and most of the talent backstage are all VERY high on him and are even throwing around words like "the next Dusty Rhodes" (which is obviously ridiculous if you ask me). Don't be surprised to see Harris in the WWE for quite some time to come.

I don't hate Husky. I don't love the guy, but I see a lot of potential there. He is unique in appearance, is athletic for a heavier guy, and he has a very good cocky heel swagger. He may not be the best on the mic or ring, but he knows how to conduct himself and let his personality shine. There's no way he's the next Dusty Rhodes,or even on the level of Riley or Watson, but he'll make a good enforcer some day.

i dont think him giving up the mic to matt striker makes him a bad talker in fact i like it even better i mean not everyone on the main roster can talk gee i mean i could list like half the roster under that list (great khali not included lol ok maybe ) but his look i mean anyone who thinks his tattoos are douche bag tattoos can get over it cause all tattoos are douche bag tattoos im a HUGE douche bag and i love his tats and his body hell i think its a breath of fresh air hes a big handsome man sexy and sweaty alright not sexy but sweaty and i mean if any of you saw him in fcw you HAVE to be impressed cause he sucked back than and looked like balls mahoney took a dump that could wrestle bettert han balls could( not sayin much) but he cut off his stupid bleach blonde hair and now looks like a full fledge heel i mean listen to yourselves smarks or marks or whatever a lot of you hate him just by looking at him and thats part of being heel i mean i LOATHE miz but hes a good wrestler and a good mic-er but its that arrogant look and stupid faux-hawk anyway husky has the in ring ability to shine and the look down as well so as long as he continutes to garner heat from his stupid tats and his flabby belly and tweaker face i think he'll do great in the business hell im aroused just talking about him

Husky Harris has been growing on me for the past few weeks now. I can see why officials have been impressed with the kid. He is decent on the mic and despite not having the look, he moves around good in the ring and has some good wrestling ability. It wouldn't surprise me to see this guy make it into the final 4. Yes the fans aren't behind him, but the pros could easily rank him higher to keep him in the mix. I don't see him winning it, but he could surprise some people with just how far he makes it. Besides Hennig and Kaval, Harris has been the one to impress me most and at the beginning of the season I would not have expected that.

Before last night, I wasn't too impressed with Harris, but he has natural heel charisma, is good on the mic, and moves around well. I think he can make it to the final 3 or 4 as long as the pros vote for him, because the fans aren't going to. Hell, I'm going to vote for him just so he doesn't get voted off because he's interesting me more and more each week. He's one of maybe two rookies who has me wondering what he'll do next.

samoa joe has been wrestling like twice as long as he has its not even fair to compare someone who started wrestling in fcw to someone who wrestled all over the world to get where he is now

Way to go Husky!

When season 2 of NXT started I immediately thought Husky would be the first eliminated. However he has impressed me so much lately that I honestly wouldn't mind him winning. Of course that's not going to happen but still. This guy is just a natural on the mic. His work on the stick is outshining both Alex Riley and Percy Watson in my not so humble opinion.

Husky Harris is slowly growing on me. He is getting better in the ring and in the mic and I like him so much better as a heel then a face. I don't like his motto, but maybe it will grow on me. Rhodes has done a great job as Husky's mentor, as the two really work well together.

Hopefully Husky continues to advance and not getting eliminated but with the fans voting he can easily go next week.

Husky Harris as a face on the first show I found absolutely bland.

He has won me over in the coming weeks by developing everything you need to succeed at first in the WWE:

-A believable persona (Rather than just being heel or face for the sake of it)... acting like BFF's with his mentor Cody at times, not giving the crowd the satisfaction of hearing him speak one week , and attacking the host of NXT, Matt Striker.
-A Catchphrase: "The army tank with the ferrari engine". Take a look at those who have got over so far in the competition. Percy "Oh Yeah" Watson, Titus "Make It A Win" O'Neil. Even Eli managed to get over last week with his Mustache phrase!
-A finishing move that fits his character: A big senton which is not only athletic but also makes use of his weight... ties in with with his catchphrase/nickname.

I see a bright future for Husky, if I'm honest.

Husky is easily one of my favorites out of any of the brands. I really enjoy those kind of characters who just wanna have a good time and kick some butt if needed/felt like it. I think he has loads of charisma with a single smile. And anyone who punches Matt Striker head from behind will have my undying loyality. He just reminds me so much of Dusty Rhodes.. And I think wrestling needs another character like Dusty again.

I do like the irony of sticking up with someone who has been trying to shake off the stigma of "Oh, he is just Dusty's kid". lol

Complete result to see Husky still in the running.
The guys a complete throwback, and it's nice to see someone really use their size to Bulldoze through people and show you don't have to be chiselled to make it in the WWE.
I know everyones up on McGillicutty's heritage, but Husky's related to Blackjack Mulligan, Barry Windham and Mike Rotunda!
I doubt he'll make the final, but he's got my vote.

Husky has been great over the past few weeks, he is huge, and he is agile! he has really grown on me since day 1, and I believe he can reach the final 3!
