[Official] Harthan is more badass than you via ponies, magic, and stuff.

Also, despite what restaurant advertising tells you, bacon and cheese are not condiments. They dont have to be on everything. Dont get me wrong, they taste great but its not always needed. You would be surprised the calories\cholesterol you can save by eliminating certain things.

That sounds pretty promising with the invitation. Congrats bro.

Is Lambda Lambda Lambda not taking pledges anymore? I hear they throw a good party.

You guys are good people. I'm going to do some work on this front and report back in the near future.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I was just invited to join Tau Beta Pi, a national engineering honors society, so...yes, epic win.

Any time champ. Congrats on the invitation

So I got fun blood test results back today. Cholesterol is too high, bad LDL is too high, good LDL is too low. Or, in simpler terms, I'm fat.

Being an adult is just the worst. People are always telling you numbers that are literal proof you are not good at taking care of yourself.

I remember when I got gold stars for bringing the right folder to class, man.

Harthan about 6 months ago I was in a similar spot. I started going to the gym and simply cutting out the more obvious junk food and I'm at normal levels on everything. I'll probably always be a bigger guy, but I'm healthy despite it because I got my shit together. I exercise between two and four days a week for an hour, I eat moderately healthy, and Saturday I allow myself to have a cheat day so I don't get burnt out. It isn't easy at first but once you hit a rhythm it gets easier and at this point its basically second nature. I have faith in you

Rakdos Charm BR
Instant
Choose one: exile all cards from target player's graveyard; or destroy target artifact; or each creature deals 1 damage to its controller.

That's no Jund Charm, but I'll take it happily. I'm really loving this charm cycle. I've always loved charms because I love modal spells, and these all seem very playable.

So I thought I'd check out some Eternal formats for Magic. Then I found out they're expensive as fuck. I can't handle that shit right now. Maybe when I co-op.

How are you, bar denizens?

Do you think there's something worthwhile that I could do to build up to a reasonable running schedule? I'm going to be honest with you, I am pretty out of shape. I don't think I could jog a mile, in all honesty.

I've been talking to a friend about elliptical, which he likes a lot...

Walk 3 miles.

Next time i'm on WZ i swear I'll lurk your thread, Harthan, but I got to go to sleep.

I miss the days when I could stay up 'till 3 AM and sleep till 2 PM. Then school happened again and I barely have time to even go on the computer at all during the week. And fuck me I am really missing you guys :icon_sad:

Walk 3 miles.

Best advice right here...

Once you start building a regular workout regime like walking 3 miles everyday, your body will develop into it, and once you can walk 3 miles with ease you can pick up your pace. Proper conditioning is key.

running is one of the easiest ways to drop weight. and it's one of the only full body workouts there is. I usually start every day with a 3-4 mile run before I go lift and then do crossfit

Ah yeah, nothing works your upper body like running!

The only single full body workout I can come up with is swimming. Maybe rowing. Running definitely is not a full body exercise.

Do this: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

I hate hate hate running, but I knew it was really a good workout to get into so I started to do this. I made it pretty far before my shins gave out on me, but that's because I didn't take the proper precautions. Stretch, wear proper running attire, and make sure you don't over-exert yourself.

I run on the elliptical now, though that's becoming more of a rarity as my Muay Thai class covers my weekly cardio routine. The elliptical is good, but you'll burn more calories running, and I think it is probably a more balanced workout for your body.

To be fair, I play on MTGO, where it is much cheaper for most cards and deck building. Give Modern a real chance though. It's not as hard on your wallet to break into depending on deck choice. I am a lover of rouge type decks which fly a little under the radar: my favorite Modern deck is a Living End/Cascade Mid-Range Combo that could be built for $20-$40 since the mana base is rather forgiving.

This would make a fun future episode

It's three AM, and rather than being asleep, I'm awake thinking about:

1) NMR spectroscopy of shape memory polymer networks

and

2) God, religion, the universe, and all that sort of thing.

When exactly did my life go so far astray?

Could be worse... I can no longer look at a building or structure without wanting to dissect it's form and function.

I used to look at things without thinking about every single component inside, how it was synthesized, and what it's chemical structure was.

Help.

Lately I've been having crazy ideas about wanting to design a hotel that's been carved into the side of a mountain... I say embrace the insanity Harth.

I'm really, honestly, on a daily basis, worried I'm going crazy. The things I do make less and less sense to me every day. I have conversation with people without ever feeling emotion during them. I sleep all day and stay up all night. Shit is kind of fucked up.

In an unrelated story, I thought of something I'd wanted to share here a while ago. So there was a school shooting in my hometown about six months ago, and at a party the other day I got into a conversation with a guy about it. And his explanation was the lack of religion in public schools. He said to me: "When you tell kids they come from nothing and return to nothing, how are they supposed to deal with their problems?"

I told him, "I came from stars. That's a lot more than nothing."

I explained the argument, of course, and he kind of brushed it off and the conversation trailed off. But it made me realize how important that fact had become to me.

Your first part sounds like typical college life. My old dorm mate and I would get so burned out every day that we'd have designated nap time. Plus we were both massive insomniacs so that didn't help. You sound like someone that I'd probably really enjoy having a face to face convo with; maybe if I save up some money I'll come to Ohio. Visit you and Doc.

All of this is what I go through when I look at hair. I can't help but break it down and figure out how to replicate that cut and style. Of course, as this tends to be women's hair more than men's, things get a little awkward sometimes.

I used to be anal about my stylist, but at the ripe old age of 25 I'm starting to lose it :( I'm not so caring anymore.

Good stylists are hard to find. At least, any stylist that will listen to you and can actually do what you are asking them to do.

Secretly, most women's stylists "know" two or three styles, and everything else is all about merging that with what they woman is asking for. Thus, I make it my business to really try and expand my base of knowledge. I may suck at some cuts, but not for a lack of trying.

I'm not super into men's styling, but I imagine it's similar. I know it seems like men's cuts are easier as they aren't as involved, but there's also usually FAR less canvas to work with, so to speak. Much less room for error.

I guess, probably. One day, I just want a normal 9-5 when I can come home and play video games.

That sucks, bro. I think my hair will hold up okay. It's pretty thick now so hopefully I can work with it. I was adopted, so I have no genetic reference.

I'm not really sure what I pictured you doing, but I did not picture styling. Is that what you do for a living?

You're doing Chem Eng. You want to have free, lazy days? Transfer to a humanities subject. Or art.

It's just keratin who gives a fuck? Also, minoxidil.
