Very good show. I would say something like this:

American Alpha vs Revival - ***3/4 (in the sober light of 11:20 PM)
Aries vs Corbin - ***1/4
Nakamura vs Zayn - ****3/4
Bayley vs Asuka - ****
Joe vs Balor - ****

I want to give the last two matches another go. I'm worried I was a little too hyped after Zayn/Nakamura ended to be fair to them. But, here's what I think anyway.

Asuka and Bayley went to top gear a little too fast, I think, and the story got somewhat confused by it, without a solid foundation. Joe and Balor suffered from the ref stoppages and a weird finish for the second match in the series. Finn comes across like a guy who stole one, which is weird for the uber face champion, unless they were trying to turn him, which didn't come across as the case. But the overarching theme of Joe as a man possessed to tear Balor apart and Balor pulling out all the stops to stop the monster was very good. Would have been truly special if Joe had kicked out and they had had five minutes more, I think.

Great night for wrestling. Was hoping Joe would win but can't say I'm surprised he didn't. I dont think the Piper-Bret finish didn't quite work to the effect they were going for, felt a little flat to me. Also, they gotta stop with that blood stoppage shit, this isn't a real fight, no one's gonna die (unless they're in real danger then by all means stop the fight) but the only time it's worked is Cena vs. Lesnar, every other time it just kills the momentum of the match. I'm all for making thinges seem more real but not at the expense of the match, just let them go at it.

Still though, fantastic show.

One more thing, I was really impressed with Nakamura tonight. Great 1st impression for people who haven't seen him before and he just comes off as a star, quite the showman.

Only thing I would have changed about tonight is I would have had Zayn and Nak out first. Felt like the quality of those last two got slept on after everyone had an out of body experience.
