NxT TakeOver: Dallas ~ Apollo Crews VS Elias Samson

So this week's NxT which was the go-home show for the ppv NxT TakeOver: Dallas confirmed a match between Apollo Crews and Elias Samson.

I am torn between these two regarding the winner of this match. This is Samson's debut TakeOver and he needs to win it. While Crews has lost to Baron Corbin in his last TakeOver venture.

I would want Samson to win though.

Wellll, I haven't caught up on NXT yet but Elias Samson? Last I heard he was getting destroyed by the NXT crowds and now he's on a featured match at Takeover? Odd.

I guess I should take the time out to watch some NXT before Takeover, but I'm just curious, has Elias Samson gone through some sort of transformation or something or is this WWE just pushing a young guy despite what the crowd says? In other words, has he improved that much since February?

Lets not allow some NXT crowds thinking they are the end-all be-all change how wrestling is supposed to work and be perceived.


Anyhow, these two had a fun encounter at the house show I was at last month, and I expect this to be solid as well. Hopefully it leads to further character development for both guys.

I'm not allowing the NXT crowds to change anything. All I said was they don't seem to be into Samson. Usually when somebody has his type of heat, unless your name is Eva Marie, they don't push them so prominently and so quickly.

Meh. Progressed in-so-much as he is on the show winning matches on a regular basis. The time has come.

While I'm not all that excited about this, it should be a decent undercard match. Not every match can be a spectacle of greatness after all.

When Samson jacks up the intensity and comes off more like some unbalanced crazy, it adds a new dimension, a positive one for me at least, to the lame gimmick of a wandering street musician. Fans aren't as down on him as they once were, they're not going buck wild over him, but they're not longer raining pure hate down on him, so maybe he's growing on them.

As Norcal pointed out, while NXT is fun, fresh and having a very positive impact on WWE as a whole, it's important to accept that NXT fans' opinions aren't necessarily the end all, be all of what's quality and what isn't.

I don't like to skip matches often, but Sampson is so boring in the ring that I am often tempted to do so. I haven't yet, but I see absolutely nothing in him or this gimmick. I want Apollo Crews to win. I would have preferred Alex Riley vs Apollo Crews. Feel like it has more of a chance of being an okay match, and Crews definitely would go over Riley since it could add to his angst.

Apollo Crews should win here. Elias Sampson, in my verdict, is just a filler in the Undercard bout. But Apollo Crews will be the future NXT Champ. If and When Finn Balor moves to the Mainroster, there should be someone on NXT to take his spot necessarily. And it certainly is not going to be Elias Sampson. If Apollo loses here, they have to build him up again. Like I said, Elias Sampson is a filler, he can afford to lose this bout.
