NFL Football LD, 2013/14 Season

So apparently the Titans are reaching out to Jamarcus Russell due to the injury to Locker.

I know Tebow isn't great, but Jamarcus freaking Russell is getting feelers before Tebow? Really?

They probably feel JaWalrus Russell fits their system better, it really doesn't matter, who ever they bring in is just going to be backing up Fitzpatrick anyway, they likely won't be seeing the field ever.

Damn. Giants fall to 0-5. Shocking.

Looks like the Chiefs are going to beat the Titans and Fitzpatricks dominance of KC comes to an end.

I was actually very pleased for the most part with the Lions performance. On the road, against a good team, without their best player in Calvin, and the Lions only lose by 13 and were very competitive. The defense did a great job of holding the Packers to field goals and the only play that really burned them was the deep pass to Jones. Matt Stafford was absolutely tremendous. No Calvin, no Nate Burleson, and he still throws for 262 yards, completes 62.5% of his passes, he had a TD and no turnovers. Eight different players caught passes. His numbers would have been even better but the supporting cast had 5 drops that I counted. Kris Durham had a big drop near the end of the first half that would have made it a first and goal. Scheffler had a big drop in the 4th on a 3rd and 3. The supporting cast on offense needed to be better and the O line needed to be better but overall it was still a solid performance under the circumstances. If Calvin played the Lion would have had a legitimate chance to win the game.

4-1...

The super awesome Trent Richardson had an outstanding 18 carries for 56 yards and....that's all I see.

He has been in the offense for 3 weeks. Did you expect him to dominate instantly?

Another positive for the Lions is that the Bears lost so we're still technically first in the division.

For a guy that was touted as being a "huge mistake" for the Browns to get rid of and a "huge upgrade" for the Colts who gave up a 1st rounder for him, yes the expectation was he would dominate.

It's not like the Colts offensive system is overly complicated like the Saints or the Patriots. He's just overrated.

So you'd rather have that first round pick back and Donald Brown as your starting running back?

Player A through first 19 career games: 331 rushes, 1150 yards, 3.5 ypc, 13 touchdowns. 59 catches, 424 yards, and 1 touchdown.

Player B through first 19 career games: 297 rushes, 1205 yards, 4.0 ypc, 12 touchdowns. 39 catches, 318 yards, and 1 touchdown.

Player A is Trent Richardson who was drafted to play on the Cleveland Browns with Brandon Weeden as his starting qb and no passing game to speak of. Now he has been traded to a good team with a good qb, but only a few games to learn a new offense.

Player B is first ballot HOFer Emmit Smith who was drafted to a Cowboys team with two other HOfers in Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin.

Smith has a better ypc average and Richardson has better receiving numbers but those overall numbers are very close.

Denver's offense is unreal. Manning has a good chance to set the record for most career TD passes next season. He's just over 50 away.

Laurence Maroney (His first 19 games): 239 carries, 1103 yards, 4.6 YPC, 6 TDs, 24 catches, 258 yards, 1 TD

The comparison to Emmitt doesn't work because I can compare him to Maroney and the stat line will favor Maroney in all except TDs and receptions. Maroney wasn't even a starter in his first 14 career games. Trent Richardson was.

The only thing the comparison between Emmitt and Trent does is show how much the running back position has become the overrated position in all of sports.

EDIT: Yes, I'd rather have Brown and Bradshaw with a 1st round pick in a stacked draft next year instead of a running back taken with the 3rd pick in the draft who's given teams less production than running backs taken in the 2nd round or lower.

Lol. All you're doing is making my point for me. My entire point is that deciding how good a running back is at this early point in their career is laughable. Emmit Smith looked solid but not overly spectacular at this point in his career and he became the all time leading rusher. A guy like Lawrence Maroney looked like a beast early in his career but ended up unemployed at the age of 25.

The only thing the comparison between Emmitt and Trent does is show how much the running back position has become the overrated position in all of sports.

The top 4 rushing offenses last season all made the playoffs and 6 of the top 10 made it. 5 of the top 10 passing offenses made the playoffs but the top 3 passing offenses all missed the playoffs. A good running game can still play a key role in a teams success and running back is far from an overrated position.

Richardson was also put in a much worse situation last year then those guys drafted below him. BTW Bradshaw is currently injured and rumors are that he may need season ending neck injury. Using a three game sample to judge this trade is laughable at best and mind numbingly stupid at worst. Give it time.

Wasn't the Bradshaw neck injury was part of the reason why they went for the trade. They had suspected he may be done for the year, or at the very least missing a large part of it. I don't think Richardson is any worse than any RB Indy would've taken with that 1st round pick anyway, plus they get him & can start working with him right now, he's also a guy defenses need to take seriously when he's back there, unlike a guy like Donald Brown.

They made the trade mainly because of the injury to Vic Ballard. Bradshaw got hurt after the trade. However, I'm sure Bradshaw's injury history played a part in their thinking as well.

Jesus Christ, dude. He's been in Indy for 3 weeks and though he doesn't have a great yards per carry average, he's made several key plays that has helped them win. The more he works with his offensive line and Luck, the more he's going to build trust and chemistry with them and he's going to become a beast.

Calling a guy who is 21 games into his career over-rated is incredibly ignorant.

He only attempted 15 in the entire game. You don't need to throw when you're blowing out the other team and averaging 4.9 ypc as a team.

I guess that is logical enough from the team's perspective. But from a fantasy football standpoint, that guy has been the kiss of death. He was great in game #1, but his fantasy numbers have been awful ever since.

What the hell is up with Colin Kapernick? Mid way through the third quarter and he's completed four passes?

If you thought he was gonna be the same Kapernick you saw last season you were a fool, defensive coordinators have a years worth of game tape to study & plan for the guy with now, defenses in the nfl adapt to read option shit pretty quick these days. Also if you have a run game that's firing on all cylinders you're better off riding that out as long as possible, nothing wears a defense out faster than a good run game, nothing.
