Prepare to be fined. Also this pretty much assures that the Republicans will gain more seats next year, most americans from all the polls I saw were against this bill. I don't agree with making it a mandate for anyone to get health care.
Everyone should at least have affordable (emphasis here) insurance available, no matter what condition or anything they have. If they don't buy it's that's not something they should be penalized for, but I don't want to hear a damn word of complaining if something happens and they just didn't buy it.
I'm pretty sure it's only passed the House. it still has to go past the Senate and then Obama. It's far from the final law. A lot of changes will be coming to it.
Oh trust me, that's going to be a cakewalk compared to the Senate. They might not be done until March or so. Fuck you Joe Lieberman.
If what he's done gets out, he wouldn't stand a chance. Never have I seen such corruption of a public official. It's just flat out pitiful. Thanks to people like him, my best friend that was born with a genetic defect that causes her to more or less to have a 50/50 chance of dying by becoming pregnant can't get payable insurance because she has "a preexisting condition." Yeah, SORRY FOR BEING FUCKING BORN!
No, i'm not sure how it works but it's not that. her times are really, really bad though as in she can barely move let alone function. When she was 17 she was raped and because of it got pregnant (again, not something she had any control over at all) and had to have treatment in a hospital for a few weeks or she would have likely died. The insurance company, after dragging their feet for a month and a half while she was in bed in agony, agreed to pay for the two days worth of meds she needed to fix her. After having a miscarriage, her get well present was doubled premiums which her family couldn't afford, so they haven't had insurance since.
And Joe fucking Lieberman decides that he won't hurt his country by passing such a bill in the Senate. We'll ignore the 70+% in his state that want a public option, we'll ignore the fact that his state is insurance central, and we'll ignore the 2 million dollars that insurance companies have given to his campaigns in the last year and a half. People like the girl whose hand I held while she screamed for days can keep having to not be able to go to the fucking doctor when she's sick because her family could lose their house over it, but the CEO of the biggest insurance company in the country can make 24 million dollars a year. Thank you Lieberman. You should be proud to be an American.
Sorry I just get pissed off when all these Republicans come out of the fucking woodwork to blast Obama for helping his citizens be protected from dying because they can't afford it, but they'll stand at attention for Bush and Chaney who want to spend more money on two bogus (yeah I said it. Bring it on Norcal and FTS. It was going to happen eventually) wars where we have a snowballs chance of being attacked again. Let me make sure I have this straight: Republicans will vote for stopping something where we have a very slight chance of being harmed by something that's across the world, but there is NO WAY they'll allow something EVIL like HELPING THE SICK here in this country to pass. IN other words it's better to prevent something unlikely from happening, but it's not ok to help stop something that is happening here? Ok, in other words, Republicans in Congress are either fucking stupid or corrupt. You pick one.
I wouldn't say that. According to Duvergey's (that's likely completely butchered) Law, a third party won't work in our system. The thing is, to win a state in the Electoral College, you need 50% +1. Because of that, a third party would likely keep anyone from flat out winning. Since that's the case, the 3rd parties join together with a major one, a la Ron Paul running as a Republican.
I don't think we need a new party. We need to stop with this ridiculous bullshit of party vs. party and actually try to help the people of the country. It stopped being about the people a long time ago and it's just about who can fuck the other over more, and yes, Dems are just as guilty as republicans here, no question about it.
Obama talks about wanting to cross party lines, and I say rock on. However, from what I've read, the other side doesn't seem to want to, so they blame Obama for it, furthering the gap. Stuff like the rape bill in the Senate a few months ago fucking disgusts me. 30 some odd people, all republicans, vote against what is in essence an anti-rape bill. Again, they're either just going after it because a Dem started it, or they're corrupted by the companies it hurt. Again, corrupt or stupid.
I haven't since Clinton. This whole mess that we're in really started once the wars got going. America didn't seem invincible anymore and oddly enough, it started when we began dumping nearly 2 hundred billion dollars into something that isn't working. But oh, we can't make fun of Bush. he's a patriot. So what if he's nearly crippled our economy and sent 3000+ people to die for something that has completely lost sight of the original point? It got him reelected right? His daddy can be happy now.
