New Health Care Bill Passed and Other Political Chatter

The Bill's not going to pass this was expected this bill will fail and Obama will get embarrassed.

Universal health care is one of the worst ideas in the long sad history of bad ideas. In fact it's the worst thing that could happen to this country in a long time.

I know, how awful it must be to make sure your citizens aren't afraid of going to the doctor because of the cost.

That's not oversimplifying it at all.....

We can't afford another inefficient system.

Now, I don't think that there is no need for healthcare reform, but there has to be a way to reform it and leave private industry in charge.

Our government inefficiently runs the trains, the mail, the mortgage industry, medicare, and energy. Let's go ahead and put the lives of the sick in their hands!!!!!

There's so much bullshit in that post I don't even know where to start.

So the government offering health insurance to 47mil people who either can't afford it or those who are refused it is a bad thing? And why is this exactly? Oh yeah, because you'll all become communists overnight. Silly me

I am a slightly pro-government moderate conservative somewhere between Gordon Brown and Angela Merkel. I would love to see X's political compass.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_approval_rating

Take your pick for Obama, anywhere from 48-57% approval rating. Depends on what source you want to believe. The correlation between approval ratings and elections are minimal at best though, Bush had an atrocious approval rating when he beat Kerry in 2004. Approval ratings don't really mean jackshit.

Bush's approval rating was something like 48% in November of 2004.

The American people picked the lesser of two evils in that election and again in this one. Thomas Jefferson is not walking through that door, and no one is both noble and inspirational, and we get stuck picking between the two. I prefer nobility.

I did that political compass earlier. I don't really want to do it again, but my dot was a little bit lower than the middle of the lower left quadrant. As you'd obviously guess.

Interesting, I'm more towards the middle then I expected. Also it looks like me and the Dalai Lama have the same vibe.

Apparently me and Gandhi have similar politics.

If you check out the presidential candidate list of 2008 on the same site, you'll find all of our options were mostly authoritarians. Maybe you can see why I'm so cynical about politics. I believe the people should have the real power, not the nobility, or the rich, or the corporations, or any other organization that puts itself above the people.

Seems I have gotten a tad more liberal in my old age. Even though I don't think for a second I am similar in believes to Kucinich. Even if I am left in my economic views.

Wow that is far more liberal than I was expecting of you DIAR.

Welcome to the dark side.

I have to be honest and say that I really haven't been following the Health Care stuff lately (with work, and my free time going towards watching good shit on tv, sports, and movies, and playing basketball and hanging on here, I just haven't felt like following politics lately), but I was just doing some reading up on it earlier today and saw that Louisiana Representative Joseph Cao was the lone Republican to vote in favor of the bill, and I have to say... if he's willing to believe in it, then so am I. Cao is a good, very smart man who I respect deeply.

Oh, and........

What the fuck, JMT is more right-wing than DIAR?

I call shenanigans.

I actually am a registered Republican, believe it or not. I didn't vote in the last Presidential election, but I did vote for Bush in 2004, and I did vote for Jindal and Cao, who are both Republicans, for my state elections.

Though, I like to believe I'm more of a Libertarian more so than anything. I'll just stay a register Republican for guys like the aforementioned, and of course our boy Ron Paul.

You voted for Bush?

Our bromance is officially over. OVER! Take your ROH DVDs and get out of my life!

:lmao:

You can shit on Bush all you want X, but I know no matter how liberal some of your views may be, there's no way you think John Kerry was any better than that man.

Honestly, I just liked George Bush the man more so than I did the president. It's how I feel currently about Obama. Not so sure how Obama is as Pres. yet, but he is certainly a good dude and I respect him.
