NBA Playoff Prediction Thread

So are James Jones, Mike Miller, Eddie House ect. Miami has plenty of shooters too. Terry isn't the kind of guy who is gonna drop 30 every game like Dirk, Lebron, Wade, and Bosh are capable of.
Oh i got Miami on 6, but to say Dirk is the only legitimate scorer on the Mavs is a stretch. Terry is so quick and set himself for a shot in an instant, i think it will be very difficult for Miami to defend.

Thats debatable. Terry is one hell of a shooter. I think he will cause a ton of match up issues from 3.

Terry is a good complementary scorer, but he's not "top notch." No way. He went from about 30 points to 8 points in two games. He's spotty. At times, he shows flashes of great ability, but at other times he disappears. He is by no means "top notch."

Sure, he may cause problems from the perimeter, but so will James Jones and Mike Miller for Miami. Dirk IS the only legitimate go-to guy the Mavericks have, whereas the Heat have three, in James, Wade, and Bosh. No way around it, on a pure "star" front, the Heat have the advantage.

Take Dirk out of the equation and I honestly don't think the Mavericks stand a chance. They've been riding Dirk and stellar performances from different guys (Barea and Terry, in particular) at key times in the playoffs. They might get a game or two, but I have the Heat winning the series in six.

Jason Terry may not be "top notch" as you put it but he completely shits all over Mike Miller and James Jones. Miller and Jones are both one trick ponies who live and die with the three ball. Jet is a much more well rounded scorer.

Chris Bosh is in no way a go-to guy. He'll occasionally drop 30 when defenses are focused on LeBron and Wade but he certainly is not a go-to guy. He's a great talent but not a number one guy.

Much easier said then done. With the way Dirk is playing I don't see a Heat defender that could even slow him down too much, much less stop him. LeBron may be the best option but no way is he going to consistently guard Dirk risking fatigue and foul trouble. The Mavs may not have that legitimate second option but they have a cast of guys who are capable of putting up numbers. Jet Terry, JJ Barea, J Kidd, and Shawn Marion can all come up big at times. The Heat live and die with the big three while Dallas is a complete team.

The Mavs are better at the point, better inside, have a better bench, and are a better 3 point shooting team. This will be a very competitive series so no one should be sleeping on the Mavs.

Kind of an unfair comparison. Miller is a roleplayer, he brings a toughness to the team. And Jones is a good bench player, who when hot is scary behind the 3 point line.

Im a huge heat fan... but every time Miller takes a 3 i cringe... i hope he leaves the scoring to the big 3 or Chalmers in this series...

1. I didn't make the comparison

2. Jason Terry is the Mavs sixth man and Mike Miller is the Heats sixth man. Seems fair enough to me. Miller obviously doesn't play the minutes Terry does but even if he did, Terry is the more complete scorer.

Chris Bosh was the number one guy in Toronto his whole career and was a scoring machine. The reason he doesn't average as much now is because he ahs two other all stars who could argue for best scorer in the league on his team who get shots first. Defenses are always going to be focused on Lebron and Wade so its reasonable to think he could drop 30 on a given night. If Dirk was on Miami he would be the third option too, honestly Dirk isn't really that much better than Bosh.

Scoring machine? Not at all, just a good talent on a shit team. Toronto only made the playoffs twice with Bosh and they never got out of the first round. Andrei Bargnani averaged over 21 ppg for the Raptors this year but I highly doubt you'd call him a scoring machine. Putting up great numbers and leading a team to great success is completely different from putting up great numbers on a shit team.

honestly Dirk isn't really that much better than Bosh.

Easily one of the dumbest statements I've read on this forum. Dirk is a former MVP and has been the number guy on some great teams for years. He is better then Bosh in pretty much every way imaginable.

and look how bad Toronto got after Bosh left. They're picking third in the lottery. I guess he is just that much better than Bargnani.

Bosh has never had as good of a team around him as Dirk has. Dirk is a former MVP but how many times have his teams choked in the playoffs? Remember the year they lost to Golden State. Or how they lost to San Antonio last year. Dirk is pretty over rated. He is a really good player but is he really that much better than Chris Bosh? I don't think so.

Nah, he's much better than Bosh, and you're making yourself look dumber every time you try and say otherwise. When it's all said and done, Dirk is gonna be an all time great, and one of the top 10 PF's of all time (he already is actually). CB isn't anywhere near the level of Dirk, and never will be either.

I mean i just don't really know how you can really make that argument. Your acting like Toronto went through what Cleveland went through. The fact is that Toronto was a pretty shit team with Bosh so they didn't fall at all really. Dirk has atleast lead pretty bad Maverick teams to the post season every year. Only thing Bosh has over Dirk is rebounding.

Congratulations. Bosh is better then Bargnani. By the way Bosh only led Toronto to an over .500 record twice. The Raptors sucked with him as well.

I also remember all the success they've had including two trips to the NBA finals. Dirk was "The Man" on all of those teams. Bosh has never led a team to anything noteworthy as the top player.
