NBA Offseason

As a Lakers fan I'm really happy we didn't give up Randle or clarkson. OKC is a serious threat to keep PG13 though. George and Westbrook/ cousins and Davis. The real super teams of the NBA.

Just when you thought the conferences could not be more unbalanced, Butler and now George are headed to the West while Paul and Griffin stay in the West. Is Kyle Lowry next?

Help us Gordon Heyward, you're our only hope.

Fuck Paul George. Enjoy OKC. Maybe you can fuck Westbrook's wife next.

My prediction is that Westbrook is gonna have a, "my team, my rules," attitude that will only be exacerbated by the fact that he is coming off a historic year and Paul George is gonna take a, "Mother fucker, I'm here for a YEAR. I don't give a fuck if it's your team, but now I'm just gonna fuck with you," attitude and be an asshole.

Unless they can sign a third star (the only guy that makes sense to me is Blake Griffin), I think those two are just gonna butt heads all year and all this will have accomplished for the Thunder is setting them back in terms of team building progress. Trade young, promising players for a guy everyone knows is leaving next year and adding him will definitely not be enough to help you win a championship, or even make it past the second round of the playoffs? Okay.

The deal for Indy was really weak. Oladipo is better than he played last year but it's obvious that he isn't a number 5 draft pick in a good draft. Sabonis still has a lot to show, could be okay but I don't think he will be anything special.

Griffin resigned with Clippers for 5 years. So they'll have to look elsewhere.

Jeff Teague also signed with the Twolves as well, I like that move.

Wall resigned for 4 years as well.

My obvious bias and saltiness aside, I honestly think you are very close to the truth. Russ already had Durant walk, I imagine he will be wary of George walking too, especially given the circumstances.

This is my honest attempt at a fairly uneducated and upset fan at putting together a player profile for PG. Offensively there are few guys who can throw themselves into the lane and get to the basket with the consistency that PG can. He isn't on the level of Curry or Klay or even Kyle Korver behind the line, but he consistently shoots in the upper 30s, bordering on 40%. OKC has no one that has ever put up that kind of three point shooting. He is very solid off the ball, and will take some of the scoring pressure off Westbrook. Defensively, he can cover any wing in the game. Even though I'm no longer a fan, I'll never forget watching him battle and usually limit guys like LBJ and Melo. Mentally, he isn't a leader. That isn't me being salty, it's just that there is a lot of evidence to support that. Those back to back ECFs, we had veterans like David West who could rally the troops. Once those guys left, PG was defaulted the role and never stepped up. Might not be an issue with Russ on the team though. He also has a bottom of the barrel record in the clutch. He has hit a few buzzer beaters, but never with the game on the line. I've long had reservations about if a guy can be clutch or not, but by the standard definition, he just isn't.

My biggest issue with him isn't that he wanted to play for his home team. It's how he handled it. He tanked his trade value by going public and all but signing a future contract with the Lakers. He will improve OKC, I'm just not sure if they can challenge GS. Especially with the news just breaking that Griffin signed a five year max to stay with the Clippers.

Cant believe the celtics couldnt get a deal done. Ainge is going to turn the best trade in the history of trades into nothing

They could have easily gotten a deal for Butler and George based on what the other teams have given up

Curry with the five-year, $201 million contract.

Livingston seems to be back also.

Edit: From the internet, "Stephen Curry had been paid an average of $11.4 million since 2014-15 (2 MVP’s and 2 titles). Now, he’ll be at $40.2 million annually."

I think a max amount of money for an individual player may help. One player on each team can make the max amount and then have tiers going downward. Who knows, though.

OKC is instantly better with the trade they made for PG-13 but they're not getting out of the 2nd round unless they get more.

The Rockets are also better with the addition of CP3. They might make it to the WCF, but that all depends on the Spurs. If they land Melo like they're trying to do then we might, MIGHT, have a competitive match for GS.

The Clippers are going to suck worse then they have in recent years. It's Blake's team now, but they've proven with all the times Blake and CP3 have been out with injuries that CP3 is way more important to the success of the team. They're no longer a Western Conference power.

Bottom line, the top 4 teams next year in the West will be:

GS
SPURS
Rockets
OKC

In that order probably. At the very least GS will be first.

Boy, the east really is the JV squad now.

LeBron (1) and Kyrie (15) are the only top 15 players left in the East. LeBron is going to rest so much next season. Never playing a back to back. Easy walk to the finals for the Cavs even more than last year and the year before that.

Enes Kanter just posted a picture of Rudy Gays name in the Locke room next to Westbrooks so that all but confirms OKCs wanna be big 3. Westbrook and Gay on the same team could be hell for their teammates.

Edit: just read it is most likely a way to try and interest Gay, no serious talks. Reddick signing with 76ers is a great move for them. Also read that 76ers said they would trade Okafor in a sign and trade for Amir Johnson. I have no idea why Celtics or any team wouldn't take a punt on him.

Boston was smart imo. Why give up crowder, bradley/smart and 3 firsts for a guy that'll still likely bolt to la next year? I'll gladly take Hayward over George since you know you got Hayward multiple years. Makes no sense to get Hayward n George n essentially block jaylon n Tatum.

Pacers look stupid tho considering at the deadline Boston offered 4 firsts(this year's #1 ovr) n instead Indy took Oladipo n Sabonus with 0 picks.

S.M.H.

Side note, I'd gladly take Okafor from Philly for Amir

I didn't really clarify well enough. Boston said they didn't want to do it, but like you said I would've if I were the Celtics or a team like Nets/Kings/Hawks/Bulls/heck even Orlando in a way. Any team actually. He can score but he just needs confidence.

Boston NEEDS Hayward to sign with them otherwise they look horrible. Teams in the West are making major moves to try and defeat the Death Lineup but Boston, in the East, is so afraid of LeBron that they've done nothing but get future picks. They aren't even trying to beat him at this point. One dude! Meanwhile, the West has collectively stood up over the past week to dethrone Golden State.

If Hayward signs with the Heat than Boston are an absolute joke. They have to get Hayward because you can have all the picks you want but you're not getting a title.

I was gonna post that yesterday. The favourites to get either butler or George, and if they lose Hayward that would make them lose out as being the favourite 3 times on key players. There is no excuse that they don't have Butler or George. Philly were getting a few jabs a couple years ago for not making any moves with their assists when they had the chance. The difference between Boston and Philly is Philly were rebuilding and Celtics are trying to contend. No excuse for Boston and if I was a Celtics supporter and I don't land anyone of any value this year, I would be pretty annoyed. Especially considering they traded Faultz to get Tatum who I feel could've even fell out of the top 5.

Iggy 3-year, $48 million with the Warriors. Death Lineup now just waiting on Durant before we can confirm Golden State/Cavs 4.

So here is my bold 2018 season predictions

Boston not Cleveland will represent the East in the Finals. The Celtics will have so much depth and after adding Hayward which is still not a done deal they will have balanced scoring. And the hero ball that Lebron and Kyrie play will finally cost the Cavs.

Golden State will win their 3rd title in 4 seasons. Houston, OKC, and San Antonio will offer much better tests but still not enough to beat the Dubs.

The 76ers will make the playoffs. 7th or 8th seed

Dwayne Wade will join the Cavs this year

Melo will be traded to Houston to play with Paul & Harden

In the offseason Lebron James, Paul George, & Dwayne Wade will join the Lakers

Russell Westbrook will stay in OKC though and get his MAX MONEY!!!

New Showtime Lakers (Ball, George, James, etc...) vs. the Warriors (Steph, Klay, Durant, Draymond, etc...) Will be epic.

As a Rockets fan I'm really excited for next year. Chris Paul is a huge upgrade and I trust him a lot more to run the point during the 4th quarter than I do James Harden who could be a turnover machine at certain points last year. If they're able to trade Ryan Anderson and a pick to NY for Carmelo then that would be huge as well. They could easily have Carmelo play the same role he had during the Olympic team. On top of that Clint Capela will surely improve as he gets older and more experience. Then a bench consisting of Gordon, Tucker and Nene should be able to supply enough relief. Really looking forward to this next season. I don't believe they'll beat the Warriors, but at least they'll have a decent shot.
