NBA Offseason

Oh if they get PG13 AND Heyward, they absolutely will be a challenge for GS assuming IT is able to come back at like, at least 80% effectiveness and Horford doesn't drop off. Play a lineup up IT, Smart, PG, Heyward, and Horford... god that's sexy as hell.

I actually heard a rumor, though, that Danny Ainge is hesitant to sign Gordon Heyward because Ainge's son is running for Jason Chaffetz's former seat in the house, and he doesn't want to risk pissing off the voters of Utah. Politics in America, amirite?

During the draft someone's agent, I forgot who but had something to do with Utah, say that every day Jazz are getting more confident on Hayward returning.

Both Blake Griffin and Chris Paul have opted out of their contracts to become unrestricted free agents. Does it mean they're going? Maybe. They could be just wanting longer deals but Clippers have been worried about this happening. If they do leave imagine how Dj Jordan would be feeling. Signing with the Mavs only to get convinced to stay only for those players to leave.

You guys have got to get rid of him, he's going to be public enemy number one every time he steps on the floor at home.

Conversely, he's going to get a hero's welcome when the Pacers play @ Lakers.

I'll go more into detail about it when I have more time, but PG did play a HUGE role in getting us to those ECFs. He is also a HUGE reason the team imploded.

Call me crazy, but if I were Chris Paul, I would consider going back to New Orleans. If you want to compete with GS, maybe being their polar opposite would work. Who knows. New Orleans needs a leader. They need a guy the two bigs will respect and listen to.

That CP3 super max contract though.

Call me a loser all you want if it means I can have a super max contract and live in LA. That would suuuuuck. Amiright?

I'm not giving 30-40 million up for shiiiiiit.

Phil Jackson is an idiot. Falling asleep during interviews. Publicly criticizing Melo. Threatning to trade Porzingis. He needs to go.

As for the Celtics, I wouldn't trade for Paul George unless he promises to re-sign next summer. Yes signing him and Gordon Hayward would definitely challenge the Cavs and maybe Golden State, but they shouldn't trade for a rental in George. It really depends on how much they would have to give up.

Why on earth did Dan Gilbert fire David Griffin? Let's face it, this is Lebron's team, and they need to keep him happy. Also unless they trade Love for another superstar such as George, they're not going to compete with Golden State anyways. I'm expecting Lebron to leave after this year.

There's no way Chris Paul leaves Los Angeles. He's getting a super max and staying.

Teams have to make moves or this is going to be the least interesting season in basketball history. I hope the C's go balls out and use every asset they have to build a winner. Waiting out the Warriors is going to make basketball dull. We've seen how good they are. Now every team seems to be looking two, three years down the road except the Cavs who have no assets besides Gilbert's bank account. How willing he is to pay luxury taxes is beyond my basketball IQ.

I gotta say that Phil considering offers about KP is atleast a logical thing to do. Phil said that he hasn't witnessed anybody in his career skip a exit interview and then not have any contact with the franchise during the offseason. At the moment the current value for KP is massive, much higher than pauk George's for a few reasons, one being he hasn't announced he wants to leave and the other being he announced he would preferably go to a specific team. If KP does come out and say he doesn't want to be a Knick anymore then Bostons offer of the #3 pick, jaylen brown and a future first would never happen.

It also doesn't mean they have to trade him either. If you get a ridiculous deal for KP you take it. Either way you're doing your best to keep him or helping the Knicks out for the future.

I'd take KP before Paul George.

0-16 on game winners with 30 seconds left for George. KP gotta give me a better chance than those odds.

The exit interview thing is a lie. Shaq did it to Jackson way back. Phil is moronic and quite probably senile. Publicly stating he was listening to offers is also a lie because he wasnt just listening he was selling, he got laughed out of the building but he still tried to offload him. Then saying its time for melo to waive his no trade clause. Yeah thats a good way to piss him off. If I was melo i'd walk in with a cup of my own piss and tell phil if he drinks it he can trade me

Meanwhile my heart goes out to Kevin Love. Wasnt to blame for the loss to the Warriors, yet he's being dealt around the league and on top of that nobody wants him. Apparently there was a super five team deal being discussed between the Cavs, Knicks, Pacers, Nuggets and Phoenix that would have seen PG and Melo go the Cavs. Which is completely mental. But nobody wanted to take Love's contract and the Nuggets went one step further and said they wont take it based on medical records. Which is probably why the cavs were not able to get a deal done with the Bulls (I dont believe the shit about Butler not wanting to go to Cleveland) or the Pacers

Is Kevin Love really that messed up, physically? I have blamed his performance on Cleveland either not knowing how to use him or just not caring to.

He can go ahead and trade him to the Pistons. I would give up half the team. He can skip any interview he wants.

Hahahahahah he has been the player you guys have been looking for years. I mean that's once you guys found out Charlie Villanueva wasn't actually that good.

I'm tired of all the flack that Carmelo Anthony gets because the truth is, it's really unwarranted. Now I'm not saying that Melo is the greatest ever or anything like that but come the fuck on people. What do you guys expect from Melo? His whole career he's only been good at one thing and that scoring the basketball. There have never been any illusions about him being some great 2 way player or anything like that. He's a scorer, end of discussion. Also, how is he a team killer? I mean, NY refuses to get anyone of any significant value to play with Melo. So how do we know what he'd do on a legit championship contender? We don't, unless of course you look at the only real championship contending team he's played for which were the 08-09 Nuggets with Chauncy Billups and the like and what happened with that team? He and Billups led them to the Western Conference Finals where they lost to a Lakers team that would end up winning it all that year and again the next year. So don't say Melo can't be a team player or that he won't be a team player. There just hasn't been a TEAM for him to play with in NY for quite some time now.

Whether your goal or not, you just laid out all of the reasons people pile on Carmelo. He doesn't defend. Defense is not a skill, it's effort. He doesn't care to play defense. He doesn't make anyone better. He's a ballhog. Sure, he scores a lot of points, but he takes so many shots, him scoring a shit ton of points is almost inevitable. Maybe "team killer" is a bit strong, but that type of player (Iverson, McGrady) do not win titles.

My goal was to question why you'd expect anything else out of Melo when he's done the same thing for his entire career. Also, he's proven that when he has significant talent around him that he's not a ball hog or a ball stopper, but why shouldn't he be a ball hog on these Knicks teams? There isn't anyone else to go to.

BTW, Kobe was the type of player that you are describing and he did quite well for himself in the championship department.

Actually Kobe was quite a good defender. I don't think he really developed that talent until later in his years though. He didn't have Shaq to fall back on.

And most people would say that KP is quite a good player to pass to. That's why people were so dumbfounded that Jackson was talking about trading him.

Kobe was a great defender. Especially during those last 2 championship years. I was talking about the taking a lot of shots and ball hog thing though. He said those types of players don't win and I was saying Kobe did.

KP is getting there. He's definitely going to be an elite multi time all star before it's said and done (depending on injury of course) but he's not quite there yet. I do think that its time for NY to focus their offense around him though.

Chris Paul to Rockets in exchange for Beverly, Dekker, and Lou Williams.

Seems like a pretty big win for the Rockets in that trade. Give away three bench players (one of whom still has a lot to prove in Dekker) for one of the best PGs in the game? Easy trade.

Kobe wasn't as much of a ball stopper as Anthony. Just look at their assists. His biggest problem is that the way he plays, once he gets the ball, everyone just stands around and waits for him to shoot because he's going to. Kobe might've been an exceptional scorer, but he still distributed at an almost average pace for a true shooting guard. His worst seasons were his very early ones, where he was young and his last one where he was the only good player on the team.

So...James Harden to SG?

After reading more about it, it seems Harden and Paul wanted to play together. With Paul gone, I'm guessing you can say goodbye to Griffin as well, unless the extra money is more important to him. With both gone, expect DeAndre Jordan to get traded and LA to go into full on rebuild mode.

So the Rockets are going to put Harden back to SG when he was almost the MVP at PG? Doesn't make much sense to me. I do think, though, that this makes the Rockets a lot better but they're still not going to compete with Golden State.

I guess Blake Griffin is going to officially opt out now and they're probably going to trade Jordan. The Lakers really will be back to being L.A.s best team.
