NBA Offseason

If they have an out in the contract, what's the big deal? Doesn't hit the cap, they just have to pay, which won't effect the roster if they need to sign others.

They must either have a lot of faith that he'll be able to put his injuries behind him or they must know that his upside is so huge that it's worth the risk. I would love to see him come out and dominate and overcome the injury bug that's been nagging him most of his career, but averaging 11 games per season is... bad. Really bad.

Yeah I want him to get over the injuries as well, but how often do you see big men with leg injuries end up busts because of those injury issues?

I think though that eventually Philly was gonna have to make a big money spending move to make it look like they weren’t just tanking, so this may be just that.

Anyone catch Dwight trying to guard Kyrie in transition earlier? That was a good time.

He went the length of the court with the ball the other day and done a spin for a dunk to finish it. Who does the man think he is haha, trying to be a guard and shit.

I hope Dwight has a monster year. I have always been a fan of the big guys, and he was fun to watch when he actually gave a shit.

When has Dwight ever given a shit though? Yea, the Magic made it to the Finals in the 08-09 season, but honestly that was more Hedo Turkoglu, Rashard Lewis, and Jameer Nelson playing extremely well that season then it was Howard. Not saying that he didn't contribute, but even then he seemed like he didn't care all that much if they won or lost.

Well the Celtics season is shot as Hayward just went down with a horrific broken ankle. It was awful looking. Almost as bad as when Sid Vicious broke his leg coming off the top rope. I really feel sorry for him. First game as a Celtic and this happens.

Get well soon Hayward.

Giannis going to win the MVP at 23 years old, save the Eastern Conference and get Jason Kidd voted as Coach of the Year for the number two seed they'll have this year.

Random thought - I watched the Pelicans play the Warriors and couldn't stop wondering why Davis and Cousins are allowed to leave the paint on both offense and defense. It just... ughh.

It's amazing what happens to Ben Simmons when you send him to work with the ability to earn money.

It's almost like the American college sports system is really stupid.

The collegiate sports system in America is really messed up. That said, Simmons went to a really average at best basketball school and had almost no support and I think once it became clear he was going to be number one and his team wasn't going to the post season, his effort went down. It has been happening a lot in college football, guys who are expected to be high picks will skip meaningless games to avoid injury.

Nah, the problem with LSU is that they were horribly coached. Horribly.

I remember watching LSU games before Simmons got there and when I heard he signed with LSU (as did 5-star Antonio Blakeney, who flipped from Louisville), I just remember thinking Johnny Jones must really have the bag man active, because there is no way program prestige or coaching ability lured those two five star players to LSU. Johnny Jones was a terrible basketball coach and I think it showed during the Ben Simmons year.

Wasnt one of the assistant coaches a family friend of Ben Simmons? I'm pretty sure thats what got him there.

Simmons is my cash cow. Such a good bet for the overs on combined points, rebounds and assists. Hope crownbet just keep offering up 30-32 for the line. Its easy money. So sad that they only offered Embiid over 5.5 boards once

The Cavs look bad. It's like they have no interest in playing. Lebron shouldn't be the only one responsible for making these guys want it. Is Lue the worst coach in basketball?

And then look at Boston, lost Hayward 5mins into season, didnt panic amd and have won like 4 in a row.

Maybe worst isn't the appropriate term. Worthless? Powerless? I would love to know the dynamic here. Does he have any control? If not, why? Lebron? I'm legitimately curious.

Looks just like last season. They just can't get motivated until the playoffs roll around. Until then they will do just enough to keep their heads above water and secure a top 3 seed. I really think this is the season where another Eastern Conference team overtakes them, whether it be Boston, Washington or Milwaukee. They seem to take it for granted that they can sleepwalk through the regular season and then just snap out of it and play great basketball when the playoffs start up. It's going to finally catch up with them. LeBron is out of there regardless after this season though, I have no doubt about that. I live in northeast Ohio and people laughed at me when I said he would leave again. He doesn't owe them anything though. He got Cleveland theit first championship in over 50 years. If he wants to go, so be it.

Great move for Milwaukee landing Bledsoe.
