NBA Offseason

Looks just like last season. They just can't get motivated until the playoffs roll around. Until then they will do just enough to keep their heads above water and secure a top 3 seed. I really think this is the season where another Eastern Conference team overtakes them, whether it be Boston, Washington or Milwaukee. They seem to take it for granted that they can sleepwalk through the regular season and then just snap out of it and play great basketball when the playoffs start up. It's going to finally catch up with them. LeBron is out of there regardless after this season though, I have no doubt about that. I live in northeast Ohio and people laughed at me when I said he would leave again. He doesn't owe them anything though. He got Cleveland theit first championship in over 50 years. If he wants to go, so be it.

Great move for Milwaukee landing Bledsoe.

They were in denial about it in 2010 too. The only question is where he goes when he leaves Cleveland.

It leaves Cleveland as the second best team in the division as soon as Giannis is ready to play at the elite level currently occupied by guys like LeBron and Durant. Shit, he might be ready this year.

Maybe worst isn't the appropriate term. Worthless? Powerless? I would love to know the dynamic here. Does he have any control? If not, why? Lebron? I'm legitimately curious.

I know this post is a week old, but I felt it was worth updating that he supposedly ran into Ty Lue's office today in nothing but a towel after taking a shower.

I don't think it was because he's happy.

ESPN is all over how "unhappy" LeBron is. They posted recently about how he posted the angry Arthur meme on his Instagram with no context and they went into detail about what it could mean.

Still too early to tell, but he's killing it this year.

James has always been known to be vague in his discontent. He's used to getting his way (which he has in Cleveland, for the most part) and when he doesn't he pouts like a child. This is all the media has to go on. It's also why The Decision was such a big thing at the time. He and his PR people are fucking idiotic to not see it was going to be a disaster for him.

Arthur the cartoon boy rat or Arthur the 80's drunken socialite Dudley Moore movie character manchild?

It's way too early to bury Cleveland. I'm only asking about Lue. Once Thomas comes back, they will be in a way better spot. Relying on Dwayne Wade and Derrick Rose in 2017 will not work. Awesome bench guys, nothing more. Wade isn't old, but his body has taken such a beating over the years.

And my Pistons are playing well, for now. I would love to see them move Reggie Jackson, though.

Van Gundy has always been a solid coach, I expected him to do well there eventually.

As far as Lue goes, I don't think any coach is going to have success with LeBron if they try to have it their way. Spolstra worked because he had a dominating force like Pat Riley over him to keep egos in check, but Cleveland doesn't have that. Doesn't help that Lue is tiny either.

Since everyone seems to agree that LeBron is as good as gone in Cleveland, where do you guys see him signing wit in the offseason? I heard something a while back about him and his wife being spotted touring high schools in LA for his sons.

I'm still not convinced he goes. If he does come to Lakers I just don't know what to think. I mean we now have the greatest player in the game and a majority would argue he is a top 10 of all time and there is nothing wrong with winning a title but it just wouldn't feel right. One of Kobes main rivals, he would only be coming if he got another superstar as well making us one of the favourites so it's kind of like just going to the best chances at a championship like he does every time. I just don't think it would feel right but I would still by a Lebron Lakers jersey haha.

I don't think Lebron comes west and if he does who is strong enough to compete while having cap room? Spurs would be the best option but I just couldn't see that happening either. Only the Knicks I could see as any team he could go to with cap to get him but they're in no state to recruit anybody. If Miami didn't just do some real questionable length and size of contracts to mainly role players then maybe he could go back there.

Would Cleveland go on a riot if he left again? Would he survive? Why would you leave in the first place, he basically controls the orginzation anyways.

Cleveland going to do some under the table, here is part ownership, style deal to get Lebron to stay.

Dude is going to end up owning the team anyway. Get the process started now.

Nah, he's always going to be loved in Cleveland now that he delivered on the promise of that championship, ending a 52-year drought for this city. It would be completely different this time if he left. He doesn't owe them anything. I have to tell you after living in Ohio most of my life, I started to just accept that I would never see any of the home teams win a championship. Cleveland teams are known for getting THIS close to winning, getting your hopes up, and then breaking your heart in every way imaginable. In the 80's, there was The Drive and The Fumble. Then in the 1997 World Series, the Tribe had game 7 in the palm of their hands, leading 2-0 going into the 7th inning...only to let it slip away like only a Cleveland team can and losing 3-2 in the 11th. Then in 2016, the stars aligned. It's not just that they won, it was the drama of being the only team to ever come back from 3-1 in NBA Finals history. The curse was reversed. BUT, then the Indians proved that the curse is alive and well by also blowing a 3-1 lead to the Cubs. It's probably for the best. If 2 Cleveland sports teams had won a championship in the same year, I'm pretty sure that means the world would have ended.

Leaving Cleveland the first time was made infinitely worse by The Decision. He won't be that stupid again. Plus, he won them a championship. That's all they could've asked for. As far as where he goes, the Lakers have been the biggest rumor. For reasons involving already having a home there, planning his future endorsements, and I'm sure others. They won't be completely bad with him, the big rumor of PG wanting to go there, and a young nucleus. My only confusion there is why go to the West when the East has been a joke for almost a decade?

An Asian guy at the Celtics/Lakers game is holding a sign saying "stop stealing from my people". If that's a dig at L'Angelo Ball then that is so great but so hectic at the same time.

Everyone just take a moment to remember that the worst thing Lebron has ever done in his career resulted in him making $2.5 million for the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich, Connecticut and another $3.5 million for a bunch of other charities.

I’m just gonna go ahead and say this now, it seems very likely Paul George is still coming to LA this offseason. Unless the clippers trade Jordan, I don’t see how they get him. They have 84 mill going to 4 players alone next summer, add in Tedosic, Wes Johnson and Sam deKkar and their cap space blows past 100m. Lakers look like the only option. Apart from Ingram, George is my favourite player in the league so it’ll be cool to see him in Purple and Gold next year.

I don’t even think a deep thunder run stops George from leaving. You still gotta go against the Warriors every year.

Yep. Exactly.

PG probably ends up with the Lakers. Lebron? If they trade the Ball family to Albania, it's possible.
Someone like LeBron would be the absolute best thing for Lonzo Ball. Because the Ball family is nothing compared to LeBron's empire. Having LeBron on the team would simply let Lonzo be a basketball player, nothing else.

LeBron really just wants to get the ass whooping from the Warriors over in the second round rather than waiting until the finals. All the motivation he needs to go West. Get it done like a month earlier.

Is Lavar Ball stupid enough to talk shit about a team lead by LeBron James? Almost definitely. Is the epic shutdown he'll receive at the hands of a LeBron James lead team going to be the most gratifying thing you'll ever see on television? Absolutely.

On the topic of Lonzo Ball: are you rooting for him, rooting against him, or do you not care about him at all?

I'm rooting for Lonzo. His dad is a dick, but Lonzo is a talented player and I would like to see him develop into a superstar and hopefully move out of his father's ridiculous shadow.

I have mixed feelings on Lonzo. He has some real talent and at 20 years old he has court vision and IQ that few 30 year olds have. I never want to see anyone end up a bust, but because of his dad I do find it hard to root for him. Like if Lonzo succeeds it just validated his dad’s BS. On the flip side, if he fails then it was Walton or Magic or someone else who will be to blame. I would have liked Lonzo to show a little more support to Walton when reporters asked him about LaVar’s comments about the team not wanting to play for Walton. Then again, I feel like his dad has kind of brainwashed his sons to accept his words and actions as gospel. Like look at Lonzo’s god awful shooting motion. Everyone basically agrees he needs to learn to shoot properly but since his dad probably taught him to shoot that way, it will never happen.

I feel bad for the middle child. I think that one is LiAngelo. He was only a fringe recruit for a program like UCLA, he wasn’t going to get much playing time and all NBA scouts say he isn’t even a G-League caliber player, but his dad keeps pushing he is gonna be a Laker next year. From what I’ve heard, they also don’t feature him much on their reality show, instead focusing mostly on LaVar and the other two sons.
