Good to see you get the psychological factors removed before the problem flares up. I'm very sorry to hear the news, I have too lost many family members to cancer. I hope the guiding spirit takes care of you, your mum and your family.
Trust me the therapist thing is the best way to go, My mum had a brain tumour a few years ago and I didn't talk about it or do anything I thought I was fine, I still haven't came right over it, don't keep it bottled up. Hopefully she comes right like my mum did.
