Dark Match Winner
We all know that The Undertaker & shawn michaels are viewed as Mr. WrestleMania. Which got me thinking,

who is Mr. Royal Rumble. There have been a few people that could be worthy

of being referred to Mr. Royal Rumble. The Canidates include......

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan- Very First Royal Rumble Winner (1988)

Hulk Hogan- First person to ever win back to back rumbles (1990-1991)

Shawn Michaels- first person to win at the spot #1, as well as winning back to back rumbles (1995-1996).

Kane- holds the record for eliminating the most superstars in a single rumble, 11 in 2001. he has also been in the most consectutive rumbles (1999-2009)

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin- only superstar to win 3 rumbles as well as holding the record for most eliminations total, having 36.

Drew Carey- Very impressive in his royal rumble debut :lmao:

Santino Marella- Just had to add him :p

With that being said, who do YOU think is the most deserving of the title?
MOD Comments:

Just to give you guys and gals a hand to help your case for nomination .... if you can, try to talk about specific successes of the candidates. You prioritize what YOU feel is most important.

Think in terms of:

Most number of Royal Rumble wins
Longest time a Royal Rumble match
Most number of eliminations
Largest elimination of big names
Wrestled in the most Royal Rumbles

There's no real right answer but I'd have to say HBK because unlike Austin and Hogan, he is still going, plus HBK has had great Rumble performances even when he didn't win. I don't think you can say the same for the other major nominees.

So the fact that he is still active and has been in more Rumbles than Austin and Hogan, and lastly, because he has had great performances AND multiple victories, you gotta go with The Heartbreak Killa

Stone Cold or Hbk. But I thought HBK was the MR. Wresltemania, so I'd say Stone Cold, he's got bigger rumble stats.

Who is Mr. Wrestlemania? That nickname goes to a guy who doesn't have a streak, but has had the most 'match of the night' praises at that event, Shawn Michaels.

Anyway, Stone Cold has the most success in the event, so that can go to him.

Isn't HBK technically Mr. Wrestlemania? I'm not saying that Taker doesn't have a claim to the name as well, but Shawn's the one who, you know, actually gets called Mr Wrestlemania.

As for Mr Rumble, for some reason Chris Benoit sticks out in my mind. He made his debut in one of the WWE's best ladder matches against Jericho, had one of the greatest WWE title matches ever against Angle in 2003, won after starting at #1 in 2004, and then had a pretty decent showing in the Rumble match for the next three years (lasting 47, 30, and 17 minutes repectively).

Or if you'd prefer someone on your list, it'd probably be Michaels. He's wrestled at the event 16 times, won the WWE title once, defended it once, challenged for it once, and won the Rumble match two consecutive years starting at #1 once.

But fuck HBK, he always wins everything.

I think Mr.Royal Rumble hands down should be Stone Cold Steve Austin. He holds the record for winning 3 Royal Rumbles and the most eliminations at 36. What else does he need to do to prove that he is Mr. Royal Rumble?

Kane is the appropriate chose here. Yes Stone Cold won 3 and yes Hogan and Michaels won back to back rumbles but no one has ever dominated the rumble like Kane has. Every year the only man I am actually excited to see enter the rumble is Kane because as JR would say "Business is about to pick up." He always brings dominance with him and thats why he has 33 eliminations in rumble history. That would be a mere 3 elimenations behind Austin. The wwe needs to reward him with an actual rumble win because just about every year hes in the final 4 to 6. Im not saying he needs to wrestle the main event at Wrestlemania but he deserves a rumble victory and is the Mr. Royal Rumble.

I'd have to go with Austin as well. He wins three of them and he came in the final 4 in 2002 and was runner up in 1999. Five times he was in the final handful and four times in the final two. No one, not even Hogan is anywhere close to that. Austin was in 5 Rumbles. He won three, came in 2nd once, and came in 4th, his worst showing ever, once. In other words, he was never worse than in the final four. That's ridiculous to say the least. This is Austin and it's not even debatable.

Its definately Austin. He has the most wins and the most eliminations. He had a shocking moment where he was eliminated and then all of a sudden jumped back in when no one spotted him. He won comming in early (#5 i think) and comming in late (#22 I think). He came in second the year that mcmahon won so he also has a second place finish as well. Similar to when the undertaker enters with the lights out and everyone stops what they are doing, when the glass shatters the action in the ring stops because they all get ready for austin. One year he found out they were all gunning for him and he attacked a bunch of guys durring the free for all preview show to soften them up. Second place goes to Shawn and Hogan third. If Kane were to win the Royal Rumble this year then he would pass Hogan and Shawn to jump into second place just on the count of he will probably pass austin soon on the total elimnations part and he would have a win. Austin by FARRRRR!!!!

I so badly want to say HBK, but I'm going to have to go with Stone Cold. Stone Cold's Royal Rumble wins just had that epic feel to it. I even wanted to see him win the 2002 Rumble, and I'm huge HHH mark. Plus Austin's Mania matches that followed his Rumble wins were classics.

Out of all the selection's I would definitely have to give it to Austin for obvious reasons.

I want to throw another name in the bunch here as I truly feel this person is truly Mr. Royal Rumble and that is none other than HHH. I chose HHH because he has probably had a good string of excellent matches at the rumble. He had an awesome match in 2000, solid match with angle in 2001, made his return and won the rumble in 02, had a shit match with steiner in 03, had an amazing match in 04 with Michaels, had a solid match against Orton in 05, went over an hour in the rumble in '06, and was the last man eliminated in '08. All in all I don't think anyone deserves the monikor of Mr. Royal Rumble more than HHH, like HBK he deserves the monikor because he often steals the show (he certainly did in '00, '02, '04, and '06 IMO).

I've always said this
HBK is Mr. Wrestlemania
Bret Hart is Mr. Summerslam
Undertaker is Mr. Survivor Series
and
HHH is Mr. Royal Rumble

The moniker of Mr. Wrestlemania goes to HBK because he has steals the show on so many different occassions, and when it comes to the biggest show, he ups it even more. A small list of his accomplishments at WM where he either stole the show or put the match of the night or was a part of the biggest impact of night were his ladder match with Razor, iron man match with Bret Hart, his title loss to Austin, his match with Mcmahon, his retiring of Flair, and last year his match with Taker.

The idea that someone could be a Mr. Royal Rumble however is a little ludicrus. Sure the stats ring out in that you have a man with the most eliminations in one match (Kane) the man with the most eliminations overall (Austin), you have 2 peaters in a row (HBK and Hogan) and guys who have won 3 (Austin) and guys who have won by being 1st (Benoit and HBK) or 2nd (Mysterio). But none of these guys, or their accomplishments, steal the show, or consistently steal the show. A one of many elimination is impressive, but Kane really hasn't done much since. Austing had 3 good rumble matches (the one where Mcmahon won does not count) but its not a lasting legacy. I don't think days/months/years down the line "man, remember when HBK threw that guy out, it was good", I remember he won a few times, that he went from start to finish, but I also remember it wasn't impressive because the rumble was only like half an hour long. Benoit? Not a chance he will be this. Mysterio? Only reason he won was because of Eddie.

To put it frankly, you don't typically see those moments or matches that can help build a legacy. The rumble is more about building the story to Wrestlemania, its Wrestlemania where you make history. Therefore, there is no Mr. Royal Rumble.

I can see where many of you are coming from with your choices. However, I'll have to disagree with all of you and say that Rey Mysterio should be "Mr. Royal Rumble". Sure, HBK and Benoit might've been the only ones to win from the #1 spot, Taker and Cena might've been the only ones to win at #30, Kane holding multiple records (fastest elimination, most eliminations in a rumble, most consecutive rumbles), but Mysterio honestly deserves the moniker. I mean, the guy lasted 1:02:12 against guys such as HHH and Orton, and that honestly takes guts to achieve such a monumental feat. My hat's off to Mysterio all the way.

Despite me being a Shawn Michaels fan, id have to go with Stone Cold.Only because he won it 3 times.Although there are other aspects that you have to take into consideration like: most eliminations, best perfromance, longest time.

Maybe it doesnt have to be the Royal Rumble match, maybe we could focus on the other matches. But the for the actual royal rumble match my choice goes to stone cold.

who the hell is drew carey???

I agree about Rey Mysterio being Mr. Royal Rumble. The wwe let him win because he was doing it for Eddie and thats also why he won the world title at Wrestlemania. I believe that rey mysterio will never win the royal rumble again.
Edited comments responding to post below:

sorry Lord Sidious that was a typo. what i meant to say is that i agree that rey mysterio should NOT be called Mr Royal Rumble. And i dont think he should be pushed because of Eddie

I'm a little confused by your comments, dbrdss. You feel that Rey should be Mr. Royal Rumble ... but then you say "because he was doing it for Eddie and that's why he won the title".

Do you feel that someone should have that moniker simply because WWE is pushing Mysterio solely because of someone's death?

I would think that even somewhat like Rey Mysterio wouldn't agree with getting a moniker solely for that reason. I would think that doing one of the above stated reasons repetitively year after year (most eliminations, longest time in the Rumble, etc) is far more prestigious and actually "Earned" as opposed to simply being pushed because of someone's death.

Whoa, Sidious and others! I didn't say that Mysterio deserved the moniker because of Eddie's death! (Even though that was the push that Vince was giving Rey at the time.) I said that he deserved it because he broke the record for lasting the greatest amount of time in a Royal Rumble match.

I really wanted to vote Kane, simply because he is always the guy that eliminates 7 or 8 other wrestlers before the big showdown with *insert monster here*.

I ended up voting Stone Cold though. His wins were huge, and he's the only person to win 3. Kind of hard to argue against that. They were more important than Duggan's; and Marella and Carey shouldn't even be serious options.

HBK almost got a vote from me also, simply because he never fails to step up on the big stage. His matches on the Royal Rumble card are just as big as the actual Rumble itself. That means a lot. Come to think of it, I wish I could reverse my vote...

I’m going to go with Stone Cold Steve Austin. To me, most number of Royal Rumble wins is the most important stat to take into consideration here for “Mr. Royal Rumble” (there has to be a better name for this).

Longest time a Royal Rumble match is all for nothing if the Superstar didn’t win the Royal Rumble match.

Most number of eliminations is, again, all for nothing if the Superstar didn’t win the Royal Rumble match. This, however, might be good for a secondary criteria point, but not the first think one should think of.

Largest elimination of big names doesn’t mean anything at all and is opinion based.

Wrestled in the most Royal Rumbles, and not taking into consideration winning it, is basically like the Buffalo Bills in the early 90s. Yeah, you’re there, but what did you do there??

Stone Cold Steve Austin is "Mr. Royal Rumble" (there just has to be a better name for this!!)

I understand everyone's choice in Mysterio, but the only argument I can come up with for that is, lasting the longest takes skill and luck. To draw an earlier entry and to last long takes skill and luck together. To win it three times, that’s all skill.

I believe Triple H is most deserving of the title mr. royal rumble, his accolades alone are impressive but his return to the 2002 royal rumble(which he won) after a long hiatus due to injury was by far the most impressive, he outlasted stone cold, the undertaker, kane, booker t, kurt angle among other big name wrestlers

Meh Meh Meh Stone Cold This, Meh Meh Meh Stone Cold That, im sorry but he was just a good character and ok, was a tough SOB but Mr Royal Rumble? Nah, i think if you watch some of them back, the last person anyone wanted to see coming down the ramp at any rumble he was in, was Kane every time, he's been used in such a variety of ways over the years at this particular PPV that he has to be given the title. Yeah so he didn't win, but without him, we would have missed out on some great, and highly underrated rumble moments.

Austin hands down. Not only has he won the most rumbles, but he holds the record for most combined rumble eliminations (over 30 eliminations, an entire rumble's worth).

Though I will admit, Drew Carey gave Austin a run for his money in his rumble appearance. He was so unstoppable, he had to eliminate himself!
