this past royal rumble i thought wasnt that great though i like the fact randy won i just wasnt impressed and I jus recently watched a few royal rumbles and i was wondering in your opinion what is the best one of all time??? i myself liked the 1997 royal rumble the most, it marked the 1st time Stone Cold Steve Austin won the rumble, and for those who didnt know he won it 2 times after this... what are your thoughts???

I liked the storyline behind this years one, what I didn't like was how many people were in the ring when Big Show entered.

As for my favourite, 2001. There was so much star power in this rumble anyone could have won it. The crowd pops for The Rock, Austin and Taker were insane, even the pops for too cool and the Hardys was about as big as the babyfaces get now!

It had the comedy (Drew Carey, Honky Tonk Man), surprises (Big Show), run ins (Al Snow jumping the gun to get his hands on Raven quicker, HHH taking Austin out in return for Austin costing HHH the title earlier).

Then you had the greatest individual performance in a Rumble from Kane, who was just immense., you had Taker and Kane team up to take out six or seven men, then double team Scotty 2 Hotty, before Austin's entrance. You had mid carders who man handled the ME guys (Bradshaw on Rock and Kane springs to mind, Albert taking down Kane with one kick, Hardcore Holly coming close to eliminating the Rock a few times).

Then the ending was superb. Rikishi eliminating Taker, Rock eliminaiting Rikishi, Austin eliminating Billy Gunn after receiving the Fame Asser. The Rock then seemed to eliminate Kane, but Kane went through the ropes so was still active. Then just as the Rock seemed to be on the verge of winning, Kane runs in and dumps him out. Left with Austin and Kane. Chokeslam, Stunner were both hit, Kane teased a Tombstone, then Austin hit Kane THREE times with a chair whilst Kane stays standing, before clotheslining him out.

At the time I was a Rock mark, then an Austin one, but you had to feel for Kane. Grea performance, but then beaten by Austin. It was a brilliant Rumble and right at the height of the Attitude Era, leading to the best WrestleManie I have ever seen.

i agree my fav was also the 2001 royal rumble. so many suprises like drew carey, honky tonk man, haku, and big show. wish the rock would have won but it was still the best royal rumble ever

second favorite was 10 yrs ago at the 1999 rumble. vince and austin starting it off. chyna the first women ever in a royal rumble. dont forget the wwe tittle match between rock nd mankind that was a classic

i agree 2001 rumble was the last great one. because of kane being the breakout star you hit right on the head from the famasser to the finish. since then they've either been a disappointment or too predictable except for the 2007 rumble which was a classic finish to a good rumble. but 02,03,05,06,08,09 were bad or predictable..let me ask you a question does anybody really think that john cena coming back at the rumble was so great?..HE DREW 30 AND CLEARED THE RING LIKE HE WAS 10 FT TALL! and it was bullshit thats why i get let down at the rumble, if he came back and was number 10 then ok...and who didn't know randy orton was gonna win. and the rey rumble? jesus christo that was a bad all around rumble, even the finish. triple HHH in 02 still had his gum in his mouth gimme a break. the only 2 in the last ten years that were ant good were 04 cause angle guarenteed a win and didn't but benoit won and you didn't see it coming but you were like "finally" and takers because the end was great and you were like "finally".:undertaker2:

without a doubt the BEST royal rumble was the FIRST one! it was a fresh and new concept and legitimately had fans on their seats wondering who was going to be next in teh ring and who was gonna win... PLUS it had the jumping bomb angels win the WWF WOMENS TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS in an UNBELIEVABLE.. HAVE TO BE SEEN two out of three falls match!

these days, all you need to do is watch maybe three or four wwe shows.. in any combination.. and you KNOW who is going to win and who is coming out next.

without a doubt, the inaugural wwf royal rumble is hands down the best!

The best royal rumble and by far imo was 2001. That was 5 stars stuff. From start to finish. So many of the very great were in there, expect for HHH and Angle who were in the WWF title match. But Austin, Kane, The Rock, Undertaker with the others were all here. Kane is absoultetly fantastic in here. There are a couple of surprises too. Love the part the Royal Rumble got hardcore with the weapons and all.....love it. And then you have the moment Taker and Kane left in the ring...staring at each other...countdown is off, glass shatters, Stone cold is coming or is he????
I highly recommend this. Not only for the rumble match but for the PPV on a whole, there`s an awesome Y2J vs. Benoit ladder match in here.

The undercard was very good. The tag title match was brilliant in my eyes, and the Dudleys won. Then the ladder match was superb, I didn't think Jericho would win. The womens match was short, but served the purpose of delaying Chyna's title win until Mania and it gave a "victory" for Ivory to brag about. And the WWE match was solid, but the fans didn't get into it except from Steph and Trish's fight and Austins eventual run-in.

The Rumble topped it off as well. I forgot the hardcore stuff in the middle, that was brilliantly done. From the trash cans, to the stop sign, to the bowling ball and of course Steve Blackman's sticks. The action was non stop as well, in recent ones there have been large parts where nothing seems to happen.

I've only seen Royal Rumble 1993, 1995, 2004, 2005, and 2006... and out of those Royal Rumbles, I would have to say my favorite was Royal Rumble 2004. That is the reason why I'm most upset about the ''Benoit incident''... WWE won't even acknowledge that they even had a Royal Rumble in 2004.Then, Intercontinental Champion, Randy Orton showed that he was here to stay and had a great showing. Undertaker was playing mind games with Kane, causing him to ''Chokeslam'' Spike Dudley. Mick Foley took out the #21 entrant, Test in order to get his revenge on Randy Orton and later go on to eliminate himself. It was the 2nd Rumble in the row that Jericho eliminated Christian. Goldberg was cleaning house, eliminating Nunzio, Charlie Haas, and Billy Gunn before Brock Lesnar interfered and performed the F-5 to Goldberg, allwoing Kurt Angle to easily eliminate him. But, then the best part... the final 2: Benoit and Big Show. It seemed that Benoit was trying to eliminate Show for an eternity (which is good because it adds to your longevity in the match), but he did it! The Royal Rumble in 2004 was just GREAT... I loved it!

I know this is going against the grain, but I really didn't like the 2001 match, it was boring, especially when it came down to Austin & Kane, you knew Kane wasn't going to win and Austin was really stale as a babyface at this point and I didn't care that he won.

My favorite Rumbles were 92, 04 & 07, if I had to pick one I'd say 07 because of the ending with Undertaker & Shawn Michaels.

1992 is still my favourite, just because you had so many top draw stars in the rumble the belt was on the line and now one expected Ric Flair to walkaway with the belt. Bobby Henens commentry that night was excellent too!

I personally thought the 1992 Rumble was one of the best. Firstly, because the actual Rumble match itself has never meant more, with the winner becoming the WWF Champion. Also, because it has been stated numerous times that this was one of the most star-studded WWF events ever. If you watch the DVD, you realize how special this event was.

Also, I was a big fan of the 1994 Rumble. The moment Owen kicked Bret after their match with the Quebecers shocked me as a youngster. And the Casket match with Taker and Yoko had 10 guys put Taker out of action till SummerSlam. The Rumble match itself I liked, like when Diesel eliminated 7 guys, and Bret and Luger were co-winners. Just good times.

My personal favorite was the 1998 Rumble Match, there was a good bit of hype coming into it, and it deliver. Other favorite was 1992, and 1996.

I don't recall which year it was but I liked the rumble when Raven brought weapons to the ring, to me it added something to what is usually the sloppiest match of the year.

Royal rumble 2001 was definitely, by far the best. Not only did we see suprize guests in the rumble but it turned into a hardcore rumble right at the beginning which was probably the first time ever. Not to mention kane's dominance in the rumble. There were so many stories leading into the rumble which made it really exciting. Especially, the story whether the brothers kane and taker, were on the same page or not. Those were the good old days. Which reminds me, why did taker come out to the "you're gonna pay" music but the titatron was playing the limp bizkit rollin' version? Strange

I would have to say 2009 was the best. Maybe it was because I was there front row. But to me it really gave Orton and Legacy a major push plus I still think about the mid air RKO to Mysterio. I was so worried going in that HHH was going to win but hey this is my personal favorite.

Undertaker did come out to keep rollin but because of copy right issues, WWE had find other music of his to replace it. Limp Bizkit would have sued WWE if they used it. I thought changing it hurt the dvd because that was a highlight when Kane was being ganged up on and the gong sounded. it lit the arena up. I was at that and I thought I went deaf when his music started.

To agree with the many reasons given, 2001 was my favourite Royal Rumble because it was solid throughout, not a true dull moment happened. Nothing slowed down or lacked momentum, it had its timing perfect! That and the undercard was immense, especially the ladder match with Jericho and Benoit! This was a Rumble that hyped you up to Wrestlemania like no other!

Alright I'm totally prepared for the heat I'm going to get for this response but I gotta go with a Rumble that I personally enjoyed as a kid. This is not the "best" as far as wrestling and/or storylines go but for me it holds a lot of memories of when wrestling was fun and still had a defined line between kayfabe and reality. So I'm going with the Rumble from 91' I believe...I might be wrong with the year but it was the Rumble that Warrior fought Sgt. Slaughter and the Macho King had a run in where he hit Warrior with the sceptor and cost him the belt. The Rumble match itself had lots of big names...Rick Rude, Perfect, Shawn Michaels, Taker, Razor, and the list goes on. While Warrior was no where near the best wrestler in any era, it doesnt take away from the fact that he was a huge draw and the fued he had with Savage following this match was awesome. Like I said it wasn't the best Rumble from top to bottom but it was a Rumble that, as a kid, I enjoyed a lot and I miss those days of wrestling. So feel free to let me have it for my choice but sometimes I think I get away from what I thought was fun to watch and focus too much on the technical aspects of a ppv.
