Movie Roundtable

Taken>Night at the Museum

This movie isn't mind blowing, but it is cute. Ben Stiller is cast in his typical role of an average guy that just has terrible luck. Not a complete Murphy's Law movie, like we are used to seeing from Stiller. Good performances out of Robin Williams and Dick Van Dyke.

A good family film.

Night At The Museum > Men In Black

Men In Black is a huge movie that I am betting almost everyone on here has seen at some point. Not only did it launch Will Smith's acting career and put him on a whole new level, it also took Tommy Lee Jones to another level in my estimations. I have never been that big a fan of Jones but this movie was brilliant. The aliens, the guns, the wit and the performances really made this movie an unmissable film. Held in high regard by a lot of people, this movie deserves all the credit it gets. A wonderful movie from start to finish.

Men In Black>King Arthur

Oh dear. This film one of those 'let's go back and really make everything look extra grim' movies. No doubt it was a horrible time period to live in but damn, is there a reason Ray Stevenson has to swear every six words? The acting is also rather grim with all three lead actors putting in pretty lacklustre shifts. It's all flash, no real substance as you get your obligatory Keira Knightly sex scene and lot's of blood and guts.

King Arthur>Resevoir Dogs

What's there to say about this movie that hasn't been said before. Outstanding actors and director. Funny when it needs to be, dramatic when it needs to be, and disturbing when it needs to be.

Reservoir Dogs>South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut

My favorite movie in my entire childhood. My parents had no idea what South Park was, just that my brother and I watched it all of the time and we loved it. So when the movie came out on video, we convinced them to buy it for us, and hell, they watched it with us. They were fucking shocked to see what we have been watching this whole time. They still laughed their asses off and they didn't make us stop watching it, but boy were they surprised that it wasn't the nice little kiddy cartoon they thought it was.

I still own the movie but honestly, I just don't get any enjoyment out of it anymore. It's still fucking hilarious, but I know the whole damn thing by hear at this point so there's no point in watching.

South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut > 30 Days Of Night

To me is one of the best vampire movies ever made, it has a good plot, and good characters, and the vampires were really evil looking with their pale skin, black eyes, and sharp pointy teeth. To me that is how vampires should look, not all suave and debonair.

30 Days Of Night > The Town

Very underrated movie with a great script! Should have at least won one oscar!
If you like criminal love stories, this one is for you!!
Ben Affleck is showing us why he is a good actor and director..

The Town> Nightmare before Christamas

Creepiest kid's movie I have seen. I think in general it has a very good plot and has the potential for a sequel. I think having younger kids exposed to scarier movies at a younger age could be good for the Scary movie genre and could actually make the Scary movie genre much better/ This movie suprised me in how good it was and so I made this hard to write paragraph up.

Nightmare Before Christmas>Singing in the Rain

Gene Kelly's most memorable role film ever, featuring one of the most magical moments ever caught on film as he sings and dances in, that's right, the rain. One of cinema's most known moments, lampooned by many, equalled by few. I've yet to see a musical with a better known song than this one. It's also not a bad movie either as the acting is solid all round with Kelly giving probably his defining performance here. Solid all round.

Singing in the Rain>Nightmare on Elm Street
This is one of those original scary movie series. It has a very dark story and can honestly be considered as on of the greatest frightening thrillers of all time. This story has been the set-up for many other horror films and it also has had several repeat sucesses. This movie has been used and reused several times and it is a staple in the movie inudstry.

Nightmare on Elm Street > The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button

Best Brad Pitt movie, without a fucking doubt!!
I loved, LOVED this movie!! I have bought him and I have a poster in my room!!
This movie has everything an awesome story, a great cast and it was something NEW!!
Top 20 movies of all times for sure!! at least in my head :worship:

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button>Notorious

I don't know what the reviews of this movie have said but in opinion, this was very enjoyable. I never knew much of Biggie and I'm not going to pretend that this movie inspired me to check out his music, but I've always enjoyed these kind of rise to the top from the streets kind of flicks, and this does a pretty good job of sticking to that formula. I have no idea how accurate it is, but I wasn't watching to get an insight on what really happened, I just wanted an enjoyable experience, and that's what I got.

Notorious> Star Wars: Attack of the Clones

I think that Star Wars is a great franchise and is very interesting. I feel that this movie was very intriguing and it also is a very interesting movie. I think the last battle scene on the planet of Genosis is very interesting. This also helped established the hit cartoon based on the Clone Wars. This movie has good acting as well as a good script. It shows the first time Anakin is even doing anything remotely close to the dark side. Also this has an epic battle scene between Yoda and Count Dooku. I think that any sci-fi fan would love this movie and it is very well made.

Star Wars: Attack of the Clones>Semi-Pro

Probably the worst of Will Ferrell's adult comedies. He wasn't even really the star of it as much as Woody was. It was just a fairly lame movie that didn't really make me laugh as much as his others have. Maybe it's just that Talladega Nights and Anchorman spoiled me to the point that I couldn't appreciate his other flicks like this one and Blades Of Glory, but I really feel like this movie is just really lackluster.

Semi-Pro > Oceans Eleven

That was hard to remember, a movie beginning with an "O", fuck!
Oceans Eleven was the inception of Danny Ocean aka George Clooney!!
Great movie, maybe will be a classis in the future, worth watching every single minute of him!!

Ocean's Eleven > Not Another Teen Movie

It has been a long time since I seen this movie but I do remember it being one of the funniest parodies in movie history. The amount of parodies done on the high school/teen movie comedies is not a big list but this is the movie that done it best. The humour in it examines some of the biggest clichés in this genre type and that is brilliantly funny, in my estimation. I think I need to go back and watch this movie, just so that I can hear “Janey's Got A Gun” all over again.

Ocean's Eleven > Not Another Teen Movie

Already done by me :$
But well give a new birth!!

Not Another Teen Movie > Easy A

How good Emma Stone looked in this movie??
A different and unique movie, worth seeing believe me!!
Its about a girl that starts to become a "school ****" with only rumors to give other guys popularity and in consequence she is thrashed about every person!!

Not Another Teen Movie > Easy A

Easy A has also been done... FYI.

Nevertheless, movies can be used more than once. If you can avoid it, then go ahead. If not, then post a duplicate. It can't hurt to get another outlook on something.

Easy A > American History X

I watched this movie a couple of days ago on the best judgement of JGlass and loved it to pieces. I typed up a review of it too, so you definitely check that out. Edward Norton and Edward Furlong are, frankly, brilliant in this flick and both of them deserve a lot of credit for their performances. I honestly think that this is one of the best movies ever created and I kick myself for not watching it a lot sooner.

AHAHAH My bad!!!

American History X > X-Men Trilogy

I cant talk about X-Men 1 or 2 or 3!! I have to talk about every movie!!
Do you remember Anna Paquin "True Blood right now" being Rogue?
Hugh Jackman grew a lot with X-Men and Wolverine is his second name...
and also... X-Men- First Class is one of the most anticipated movie of 2011!!

X-Men Trilogy > Yes Man

Yes Man is a pretty typical Jim Carey movie: he's an asshole, something happens, he turns his life around and becomes a fun guy, he does something assholish, then he does something super nice to make everyone love him again.

It's still a fun little film. Jim Carey is a funny dude and Zooey Deschanel is talented and smoking hot. It's not gonna win any high praises from anyone, but it's decent.

Yes Man> Nancy Drew

A female Hardy boy, Nancy Drew is the story of a female who is a very detective like figure who solves all sorts of mysteries. In the movie she is contemplating whether or not a house is hounted or not and she finds the anser to her mystery. One of those teen Scooby Doo like teenage movies. Pretty okay. I would personally enjoy a Hardy Boy movie much better than her but I can't beg too much. I think it was good enough for what it was. Acting not spectacular however overall 6/10 movie.

Nancy Drew>White Chicks

Probably the stupidest fucking movie I've ever seen staring two of the worst actors ever. Well at least when they're together. Marlon does ok on his own but when him and Shawn team up, you know a terrible movie is in the works. White Chicks is just fucking ridiculous. Horrible plot, ridiculous, juvenile jokes, and who the fuck thought that make up job was good? The didn't look like women, hell, they didn't look like fucking people.

Just a terrible movie. The end.

White Chicks> Sound of Music

Well not my personal cup of tea however it is a classic. I think the performance given by everyone in the movie is quite good and it is no wonder why it is a classic. I think that Julie Andrews is amazing in this movie and she was really good back when she was younger. Some of these songs on this movie will last a lifetime. Generally tells a good story whil having some interesting musical pieces. I think it will easily be one of those movies that never die. I could easily see this being in my personal movie HOF just for the impact it had on socieity.

Sound of Music>Cars

Cant go wrong with this since my son just told me to use it(6yo) Kids absolutley love this movie and it has a good story to it. Not to mention the sequel is coming soon. CHIKOW CHIKOW....(I think thats what Lightning says)

Cars>Shallow Hal

Pretty lackluster comedy, even for Jack Black. I know the dude has a following and hell, I even have a place in my heart for Tenacious D, but I really don't care for any of his movies other than Pick Of Destiny and Year One. The premise had promise, but the dialogue and overall jokes were just meh. It could have been much better than it was.
