This isn't even a competition. It's Road Warriors/L.O.D. by miles. There hasn't been a more intimidating looking team since, and there isn't likely to be another for a long, long time, if ever. Road Warriors had the total package, and tapped into the Mad Max-style post-apocalyptic look with the spiked football pads, mohawks and warrior-style face paint. Combine that with their music, the way it hit with Hawk's "WWWWWWWHAT A RUSH!" and the sheer size of both men (Hawk was 6'2, 277lbs, Animal is 6'2, 305lbs) and you had a born winner.
I have to agree with everyone else that The Road Warriors/LOD where not just the most intimidating tag team of all time but the best all around ever. They ruled the 80's and 90's. They were so over that every other promotion had to create their own version (Demolition/Blade Runners). They were also ble to keep themselves relevant at a stage in their careers where most folks can only work the nostalgia angle (LOD 2000/Droz angle).
However I'd like to give an honorable mention to Colossal Connection since they weren't even in the Pole. You've got Andre The Giant and Haku, even though its all entertainment i still wouldn't want to be alone in the same room with those two. Although they weren't around very long they did hold the titles. They also beat a number of hall of fame worthy tag teams (The Hart Foundation/The Rockers/Demolition). If i'm correct I do believe this was the last angle that used Andre as an in-ring performer, before being limited to run-ins and interviews. Lets also not forget the third member, the best manager of all time Bobby The Brain.
