Mickie James' Contract Expires

According to prowrestling.net, Mickie James' current TNA contract has expired and she's a free agent as of today. The site claims that TNA made an offer to her at some point, but that she turned it down. As expected, there aren't any details pertaining to the deal mentioned in the report but it wouldn't be surprising IF the offer was for less money than she's currently getting since TNA has been cutting its budget throughout the summer.

If an agreement isn't reached, or if negotiations have already fallen through, then it's a shame really. Since turning heel, I think Mickie James has been doing some of the best work of her career. Who'd have thought that this generally generic, one dimensional babyface female wrestler could be a great, charismatic heel?

Most likely, if Mickie does leave TNA, she'll either try to go back to WWE (whether or not they want her is a different story) or she'll do the indy circuit while continuing to work on her music. I highly doubt she's going to retire just yet.

...And what is with this happening yet again with a current champion? I guess this means she's losing the title to ODB, because having her contract expire as a current champion would be a pathetic management mistake that TNA would have then made for the second time (Devon was the first) in the last year.

I really hope she re-ups with TNA, because this run she's had has been the best thing to happen to the Knockouts Division in a long, long time. I actually care about Mickie James, which is more than can be said of most of the other Knockouts.

I've been a big fan of Mickie since she debuted as Trish Stratus' psycho stalker in the best female feud I've ever seen. I loved her as a face against Beth, Melina and McCool, and her initial run in TNA opposite Tara and Madison was good. Her current heel run has been brilliant and the best character work of her career, shame it seems as if it will come to an abrupt end.

I hope WWE re-sign her, she's the ideal face for AJ who really needs someone to feud with that is actually over.

Well, it's just roster turnover, they're going to get some up and coming talent in there, one release shouldn't indicate the overall health of the company, we don't KNOW what's going on in TNA, etc., etc. That part of the story's been done to death and hasn't changed any, so let's have that be covered and move on.

I wouldn't in the least bit be surprised to see Mickie James head over to the WWE. They're clearly doubling down on their females division, because (holy shit) it seems they've actually found a way to make female professional wrestlers draw. We'll see if that lasts more than a couple of seasons, but the WWE is doing quite a bit more with their women lately than TNA has.

As far as if this will negatively impact TNA, I'm not sure if there's any single performer right now who could leave and have an effect on TNA. Any of their fans who made it through a years' worth of Biker Wars aren't going to give up because of Mickie James. It'll affect TNA in the sense that they're replacing Mickie James with ODB at the top, which isn't exactly a lateral trade.

I like Mickie James but I'll ask the same question about her that I ask about other Ex-wwe talent. What can she do that TNA couldnt get an Indy wrestler to do for less money. YOu've had all the big matches that there are to have with Mickie. At this point, anything that she does, ivileese valez will do for less money.

Mickie, well it's a shame because she's the best they have IMO and her recent work was great. However once Taryn and Gail's matches were over I once again stopped caring about the women's division, so I just skip their segments and matches.

So there's only 3-4 women left now?

tna has always been HORRIBLE with contracts... look foley,morgan(1st time) when tna used all their dates WAY before the contract were to expire. i think this is what caused tna to change how they do contracts.

i believe with devon his contract was indeed up, but then because both him and bully were up they resigned but bully stayed on air and THEN they used devon for the reveal as bully was insistant that he wouldnt resign unless devon did as well.

this would indeed be a blow to tna as mickey as most are saying is at her best right now and the womans division is NOWHERE near what it use to be.

if anything i think mickey would end up backing aj. from what were seeing, aj is going from heel to atleast tweener with her new fued with the total diva gang.

No. His contract actually expired, while he was still TV Champion, back when the TV Championship was still being defended regularly (well, semi-regularly) on television. They managed to re-sign him shortly there after to my recollection.

And yeah, this was a really crappy time for Mickie to drop like this. I get it, it's a contract, but she was doing her best work in TNA.

Yet another damper on the dwindling KO division. Mickie was probably the best female on the roster, and if she is leaving, it makes you wonder what other big name might be leaving. I never pretended to know any of the backstage happenings, and I doubt TNA is in serious trouble as some would like to predict. Yet I can't help be think that they rushed into taking the show on the road. I was all for it, I'm not gonna lie. But if the books are saying that you're losing cash flow and you're doing damn near everything to cut cost, perhaps it would be best to re-think strategies. I'd hate to see Mickie go (especially her ass), but maybe there's a chance she could stick around. At least I hope.

sad to see Mickie leaving TNA but not surprised. With TNA cutting talent, I guess getting rid of a KO making some good change makes sense. But the KO division was a shining jewel not to long ago and now it is simply a dull rock.

Love to see Mickie back in WWE. maybe aligned with The Corporation against AJ,AJ and Steph have sparred.

Mickie is my favorite woman wrestler and I hate not being able to see her onscreen. Bad move by TNA

I would hate to see Mickie leave as she is one of the real bright spots in the Knockouts division right now. I could see her returning to the WWE if she is not resigned in the future. I would rather see her stay in TNA to be honest. Their women's division was a bright spot in the past, and I think they could really get back to that with Mickie James being a part of it.
