Old "Issues" Resurfacing?: Mickie James

Several TNA staffers noted Mickie James looked insecure when the Beautiful People were doing their ring entrance.

So Mickie James is once again dealing with the fallout from an angle that ran a year ago. Im not bashing her for it(I personally prefer her "type" to that of an Angelina Love or Michelle McCool), or attempting to re-hash it, I think its quite the shame that the issue has re-surfaced again.

For those unfamilar, approximately a year ago, WWE ran an angle with Mickie and LayCool, where Mickie was rundown and nicknamed "Piggie James." This angle was apparently run over WWE's unhapiness with Mickie over her weight in real life. McCool ran her down on the mic every week, where Layla dressed up as a fat suit claiming to be Mickie. Sure, it paid off in a token title reign for James, but she lost the title 2 weeks later and was soon released. The Wrestlinmg Observer's annual awards named it "Most Disgusting Promotional Tactic of 2009".

Fast forward almost a year later, and Mickie James signs with TNA. New company, fresh start. The problem is, while TNA's Knockout division used to emphasize wrestling despite shape or size(Awesome Kong comes to mind), its complete emphasis is now on tits and ass. And hey, as a guy, I love TBP's entrance! I loved the Tara and Madision tease two weeks ago when they kissed! But they've traded what was mostly credible female wrestling for sexuality.

Granted, the PWInsider report was a one time report, but Mickie was very hesitant to re-enter the wrestling world on a regular basis.

My question is, did Mickie James make the right decision in signing with TNA? Is this truly a fresh start for her, or is that emphasis on sexuality bringing back old issues for her in a "certain body type" shaped industry? Id love to hear from some women on this one. Is this truly much ado about nothing? Or will it keep Mickie James from being able to truly shine in TNA the way it seemingly began the train wreck of issues that prematurely ended her WWE career?

I don't think that she made a mistake by going to TNA. TBP have been using the same entrance for as long as they have been togther..in any form. Mickie knew this when she signed with TNA. even with how hot Love and Sky are if those two and Mickie all walked up to me at the same time saying they wanted to be with me, I would take Mickie 10 times out of 10. she is the perfect woman in my eyes. She's been in the company all of 5 days. I think most of last night was just getting used to being in a new company and learning where she is in the grand scheme and just exactly what type of competition she is going to get from the other knockouts. TNA's womens division is way different than WWEs. yeah there are some model types( Lacey, love and Sky) but every female wrestler they have other than Lacey knows how to wrestle.

Mickie James did not make a mistake going to TNA. I love Mickie James look I think she is the closest thing to a perfect girl, I don't like her entrance with hardcore country thing in her entrance but beside that she is fine.

Same old same old for TNA. Bring in a good talent, and right out of the box, screw it up! Mickie James is a good worker with a decent, realistic look about her. But I said this in another thread earlier. Either go the route of bikini models or have women wrestlers. But they aren't good at doing both in TNA. Nor are they good at it in WWE. Right now the women in WWE are horrible. It's a complete trainwreck and there are those who actually think the Laycool angle is working. Working for what? Or for whom? Undertaker's Wife? Yep..I'm sure she's enjoying it. Nothing like marrying the guy with the most stroke in the company you work in is there? Smart move "girlfriend." She's got a job for life no matter how awful her wrestling skills are.

I'm sure James won't be around in TNA for long. They'll run her off like they did Bobby Lashley.

First post, oh boy kinda nervous

I cannot understand why Mickey James would ever feel insecure about herself. As soon as she set foot in TNA she is the hottest Knockout in my eyes. It's a shame that she feels insecure about herself cause of that lame "Piggy" James angle. (Great message to send to the young girls out there WWE if your not stick skinny then your fat)

But to answer the other question, no Mickie (or Mickey whatever ) did not make a mistake going to TNA. I think she adds a great new face to the Knockouts division thats been all about TBP for the past couple months. WWE was humiliating her and Im glad she has moved on. I think going to TNA was the perfect fresh start for her. I personally cant wait to watch her feud with her new compitition and look damn good doing it, as she is one of the best womans wrestlers in the world.

I totally disagree with your whole post here. Where are you getting that Mickie was insecure about herself or anything else in her two appearances for TNA??? She looks great, everyone gave her a huge pop both times, so why would she feel insecure about TBP's entrance? This is also the first I'm hearing of this, so I'm guessing this is all from assumption rather than fact.

And, to be honest, TNA is not all about tits and ass in the KO division. Their ladies are hot, but they can actually wrestle. Madison, Tara, and Angelina are hot, but they are also some of the best female wrestlers in the world. Also, they've got Hamada, who is no T 'n A wrestler and she currently holds a title. So, as much as everyone really wants to think that the KO division is just WWE's Divas division has got a screw loose, cuz TNA still has some of the best females in the business, although I would really like to see Kong, ODB, and Roxxi back, but otherwise, the division is MUCH better with the arrival of Mickie, and now with Ms. Tessmacher in control of the KOs.

And yes, Mickie made an EXCELLENT choice coming to TNA, where she will be appreciated and given opportunities that WWE wouldn't give her.

What if (Just imagine this in your head) turn the original beautiful people back into a heel. Have this ongoing feud between mickie james and beautiful people for weeks. Have the beautiful people pick fun of mickie james weight (only if shes truly cool with it) Then one week as the beautiful people is being really cruel to mickie james, This familiar theme starts playing; The Beautiful People recognizes this theme music right away and know that their DOOMED.

Mickie James turns; looks up toward entrance with that look on her face of 'who this could be?' As the monster emerges from the entrance, Mickie James facial expression turns form 'Who could this be?' to 'Eyes wide open. OMG' Look. The Beautiful People knows their totally screwed, They frantically start Attacking Mickie from behind, trying to even up the odds before the monster gets to the ring.

As the monster enters the ring, they focus the attack on her. The monster swats them off like flys; Madison Rayne comes running out (Because her and tara had a fallout over the championship and is wanting to reunite with the the beautiful people). As Madison Rayne enter the ring, Mickie James come out of no where with a spear on madison rayne.

AWESOME KONG IS BACK!

Wow. I don't even know where to begin. You actually believe that bullshit? Why on earth would she be insecure when she has stated several times she watches the TNA product which was BEFORE she signed a deal. I guess she was insecure while watching them from her home too?

Last time I checked, she was 'reported' to be upset and throwing a fit backstage over Madison slapping her at BFG. Then she was 'reported' to be pissed backstage because they didn't put her logo on the ref shirt.

She just released a statement online destroying the dirtsheets and reports of these sort of actions. It's very pathetic to see people actually buying into stuff that is obviously bullshit.

It's no coincidence these negative reports come out when her return was the highest rated segment of the night. Come on people, get a brain.

Honestly why would she be insecure? They haven't said a word towards her to feel that way. You honestly are going to compare her issues with Laycool to the Beautiful People? Come on. Just stop and think.

Bullshit.

James responded personally to these allegations herself earlier on Twitter:

"I usually don't even bother to entertain ignorance. But to report blatant lies is quite humorous... Anyone who knows me... Knows I would never behave like that... And they also know I respect & appreciate everyone as we all work hard as a team to make an incredible product. Fact! The seamstress already knew she was putting the logo on the shirt Thursday. Fact. I bought a ref shirt to make but when Earl gave me one of his official TNA shirts I couldn't resist. Fact. Post match I gave the shirt to the trading card company to be cut up and added to the new cards coming soon. =)"

Don't believe everything you read, folks — sometimes it comes back to make you look stupid.

Not to be paranoid, but why shouldn't both the original story and Mickie's Tweet be works? Each side hyping their side of the story to build interest for the confrontation. Rumors are spread about poor sweet Mickie being made insecure by Velvet Sky's boneriffic ass. (In case Mickie's face run goes well) At the same time, spread rumors about Mickie James being an arrogant head case who thinks she's bigger than TNA/than the Knockouts division. (Just in case TNA decides to turn her heel). Mickie tweets about how ignorant people are spreading stupid rumors. (Face heat rating increases by 2% as her fans believe her)

Not that it's a good idea, but that seems to be TNA's MO.

EDIT: Ok, that was paranoid. But paranoid doesn't always mean wrong....

It's not a work considering TNA is making a point to push a Madison/Mickie feud. Madison with the smartass remarks during Mickie's debut, slapping Mickie at BFG, now the spoilers indicate a match coming up eventually.

Besides, Mickie and Velvet are both faces and Velvet is not a Championship wrestler. It's just another BS report from the dirtsheets. Nothing more.

I don't notice anything wrong with her weight. She seems to have gotten the relatively minor issue under control before signing with TNA. Look at girls like Angelina, stick skinny. Mickie James should have a good future in TNA, after all she is a former WWE wrestler...

Alright I'll give it a go

I would prefer it much more if there were more females with interesting gimmicks being featured (Daffney, I miss you), but I also want the company to do well, so if woman's breasts poppin out of their shirts will get TNA a slightly higher rating, I'm not going to be incredibly upset about it.

However, I still don't think there is anything "wrong" with Mickis James's body size. Even if they are focusing a lot more on sex appeal, Mickie James is gorgeous so I don't see why this would affect her that much (in a negative way, at least).

I am hopeful that with the additions of Tara and Mickie, the division will focus more on entertainment value in-ring wise. But if this isn't the case and the division continues to focus completely on sex appeal, I still don't think Mickie will have a difficult time with it. Not as much as is being suggested anyway.

But honestly, I don't belive the rumor that she was insecure anyway. First thing that came to mind was, "Must have been a slow news day."

Bullshit.

I'm not sure about this, but wasn't that tweet in response to a different report? I thought that she was referring to the rumors that she was demanding her logo to be sewn onto the back of her ref shirt
