Mid-Card Championship Winner
I haven't seen a match listing for the best of Starrcade set but these matches definately belong on there.
"Rowdy" Roddy Piper vs Greg "The Hammer" Valentine - Dog Collar Match (Starrcade 83)
Tully Blanchard vs Magnum TA - US Title "I Quit" Match (Starrcade 85) - This is is already featured on a DVD highlighting the greatest cage matches but it is one of the best matches in Starrcade history, and possibly the greatest "I Quit" Match of all time.
Ole & Arn Anderson vs Rock & Roll Express - World Tag Team Title Match (Starrcade 86) - Great Horseman tag match, Ole's last run as an active wrestler
Tully Blanchard/Arn Anderson vs The Road Warriors - World Tag Team Title Match (Starrcade 87) - Blanchard and Anderson are in top form, perfect cowardly foils for the monster Legion Of Doom - Still The Horsemen have a few tricks up their sleeve in a short but highly entertaining match (a clean ending would have been better, but this is still a good match)
Ric Flair vs Lex Luger - World Title Match (Disqualifications & Count-Outs can change the title) - (Starrcade 88)- Not only a good match overall but easily the greatest match Luger ever had. If anyone doubts Flair's ability to pull great matches from mediocre performers in his prime you have to watch this, a fast paced, back & forth 33 minute (extremely long for Luger) match.
Dusty Rhodes vs Lex Luger - US Title Steel Cage Match - (Starrcade 87) Maybe Dusty's best non-Flair match at Starrcade
Vader vs Ric Flair - Win Or Retire Match For World Title - (Starrcade 93) - This is a classic if you use the promos that Flair, Vader, and manager Harley Race did leading up this match, plus the scenes with Flair taking possibly his last limo ride with Mean Gene and seeing his family waiting for him back stage afterwards are priceless
Ric Flair vs Sting vs Lex Luger (winner vs Randy Savage) - World Title Match Starracde 95 - The match itself was good, lotta blood, intensity between Flair and Savage is high, although having both Chris Benoit and Brian Pillman involved (there's a Horseman run in at the very end helping Flair beat Savage after he already upended Sting & Luger alone) might be enough to keep this match off the set.
DDP vs Curt Henning - US Title Match Starrcade 97 - Underrated match, unusual clean finish in an NWO related PPV Match
Sting vs "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan - World Title Match - Starrcade 97 - This match could have been better but it was historic as Starracde 97 was the most watched wrestling PPV of the year, more than WrestleMania. Seeing Hogan pinned is a bonus
Goldberg vs Kevin Nash - World Title Starrcade 98 - Suprisingly good match (screw job ending with the return of Scott Hall hurts) as both Goldberg and Nash were booked as fan favs going in, leading to a match with very little rulebreaking. Nash was helping book WCW at the time and came under a lot of criticism for booking himself as the man to end Goldberg's two year long winning streak AND become champion but this was another huge event (I believe this Starrcade was second to WrestleMania that year in PPV buys) and it's a much better match than Goldberg is usually given credit for.
