im not going to read through all 10 pages in order to see if you guys said this but doesnt this seem awfully close to Aces and Eights all of a sudden. I mean the were supposedly helping james storm now they are supposedly helping punk it seems like it. idk but it seems like tna and wwe and been stealing each others ideas lately.

With the Leader of the NWO / Wolfpac, Kevin Nash and the Leader of the Nexus / Corre, Wade Barrett coming to NXT and the Shield, of course, being there, I think there could be some Nexus World Order storyline out of this. “You’re either with us or against, 4 Life!!” No?? Too much??

In all seriousness, well, as serious as a post about Kayfabe can be, The Shield would be great for Heyman, Punk and Lesnar. Heyman could teach these “kids” a few things. Punk could use the backup in order to stretch his Title reign to 731 days. Lesnar could use the “time off” and have The Shield do his dirty work, similar to Hogan and the NWO Elite run.

The title of the thread is pretty self-explanatory. There's speculation as to whether two members of The Shield will form a tag team, and which ones if so, with one member being a singles wrestler. All three could mostly focus on the singles ranks if WWE decides to go that route. When it's all said and done, what do you think the best way would be to handle the debut match of The Shield?

For me, I kind of like the idea of a six man tag team match with The Shield taking on Ryback and Team Hell No. Kane & Daniel Bryan were beaten down by The Shield last Monday and the as hinted at during this past Friday's SmackDown! during commentary. Team Hell No dropped their trademark dysfunction, which I'm assuming will be permanent going forward, and their beating by The Shield was referenced as possibly being the reason why. This match could ultimately be used to give The Shield a solid first victory while still protecting Ryback. The action almost always breaks down in these sorts of matches and two members of The Shield could be focused on Ryback and either Kane or Bryan while leaving the other Shield member to pick up a pinfall or submission win over Kane or Bryan. Ryback could be busy kicking Ambrose's, Rollins' or Reigns' ass and lose the match without having to lose.

This would establish them as gaining a clean win by beating one member of the tag champs, them generally getting the best of Ryback with a technical win over him and keeping them as part of the Ryback/Punk scene for the time being.

I immediately thought six-man tag when The Shield got involved with Team Hell No last week. I figured that was the only reason they were doing that.

If for some reason the WWE does not think one of The Shield members is ready they could easily turn it into a regular tag match. But there is no doubt that Ryback and Hell No are over enough to throw them into a six-man tag together.

As JH said, this would provide ample opportunity to give The Shield a win and keep putting them over and easy outs to make sure you don't downplay your "monster" face.

I really see no other logical debut for them. I would like to see them seriously working together in the Royal Rumble this year also and trying to get eliminate everyone as a trio. Could make things interesting.

Things were going decent tonight until the end when they were beaten back by Kane/Bryan and then Ryback. Beaten back so much that they couldn't even get back to the ring to help Punk and/or attack Ryback. Are we supposed to take them as a credible threat after what happened tonight?

I say decent because I think we need to see more variety in the way they take out people. That assisted powerbomb looks less and less impressive each passing week. They started out great when it was putting Ryback through the announcers table but just doing it in the ring is a lot less powerful. Also I think they should be cutting promos. The interview was ok but they need more or else they're never going to get over. But then again maybe they aren't supposed to get over. Maybe they were just fodder for the Ryback/Punk feud all along. Not sure. I mean it looks like they're building up to something but you never know with Vince.

I think if the plan is to have them join Punk/Heyman officially then it should be done asap. Throw Maddox in too I guess since he seems to have some strange role to play. But the killer piece would be for Lesnar to return and join this faction. If he did then they would have something that would make the people care about all this nonsense. I think this has to happen at TLC or at latest the Raw after TLC. If they wait longer than that I think The Shield might be DOA.

One other thought is that they don't actually need anyone else. Plenty of small factions (4 or 5 people if you count a manager/escort) have been successful throughout wrestling history. They just have to be booked properly. If that's what they're going for with The Shield then I think they have a long way to go to make this a credible and long lasting group. It would be easier to do with people the average fan already knows but they chose this way to introduce these three guys so the writers/bookers need to step up.

Two years ago before wrestlmania 27 Randy orton had a feud with CM Punk (Leader of the Nexus) and The Nexus.
What orton did? He had a match with each of the Nexus member and put them out with the Punt.
So do you think something similar is happening between Ryback and the Shield and CM Punk ?

Although we saw them get beaten today I honestly don't think it hurt them to much. I mean it took the current tag team champions, 2 former world champions, and a guy built up as an absolute monster to stop them. Considering this whole time I've feared they would let Ryback 3v1 to wreck them I can live with a 3v3 especially with the 3 they had do it.

I really just want them to get more promo time and do less of these random attacks.

Their strong as a pack. You get them individually or even the odds they are not. Come on these guys are 3 rookies from NXT. They are not going to dominant top level wwe superstars.

They are aligned with Maddox or they felt like Maddox having to face Orton for a WWE contract was unfair.

It does look like we are getting a 6 man tag with Orton and Team Hell Now vs Shield at TLC.

We all know the WWE love too give wrestlers with "real names" a nickname that goes before or in the middle of their name (and the ever so rare after their name). So I thought it would be fun too try and come up with, :scratchchin:how do I put this, not as lame as WWE will probly come up with :lol2:... that works..

"The Future" Dean Ambrose - If they can play off his Mick Foley Internet Buzz and they push him as the leader as it seems they are doing. His name gets mentioned first, and he sat closest too Cole during the sitdown. This "righting the wrongs" gimmick will only go so far and eventually they will be out for themselves. Hopefully still as a group. I think a simple one will work here. I am sure you guys will have better ones for him.

Seth "The Crippler" Rollins - All his work I have seen he reminds me of a mix of Punk and Bryan. I'd love too see more of a shooter/Submission style too go along with it. Also I love this nickname and maybe it will take some of the Benoit bad thoughts away from the name.

"The Samoan Nightmare" Roman Reighns - I'll admit I am not as well versed on him.
He's big
He's Samoan
He doesn't talk much...

I'd love too see what you all can come up with...

Good idea and i can see them being given nicknames and 2 of the 3 you used are possible......however Seth "The Crippler" Rollins will not happen because of the Chris Benoit connection.
WWE will not do anything that will make people think "oh that reminds me of Chris Benoit."

Anything to do with Benoit does not exist as far as Vince is concerned, apart from that though the other 2 names are decent.

I know a lot of people are most likely assuming that more guys from NXT or a major star will lead the group. One major star being named is, CM Punk, which it could still possibly go down that route. Another person that people are saying might be part of The Shield is, Brad Maddox.

Well, I am here to tell everyone right now:

If Brad Maddox is in anyway associated with The Shield it will be the beginning of their decline.

Sure, in some ways Brad Maddox would be a reasonable idea, but Brad Maddox does not fit the aura of what The Shield is. He doesn't have the looks like Rollins, Reigns, or Ambrose. I have been hearing he does not have the best wrestling ability ever either. And judging from him speaking on the microphone he does not sound impressive. Unlike Maddox, Rollins can talk (he did very well during the interview), and Rollins can wrestle. Ambrose he can talk (one of the best in the business), and he can put on a entertaining match. Reigns he is not a talker, but he has an intimidating look about him he does not need to speak. His wrestling ability? I am going to be honest I have not seen any of his material from FCW/NXT quite yet, but WWE are really high on this guy that he could be a future major player.

I have said this from the beginning since people have started assuming more stars would be brought up; Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns are perfect as a trio, sure, Punk leading them would not be a bad idea, but we have seen Punk as a leader for years with The Straight Edge Society and The Nexus. Punk does not necessarily have to be the leader. I think it is more appealing that these three guys have no alignment with anyone. Just be three guys who interfere in matches and being the, "shield of injustice". If anyone is being considered part of this group Brad Maddox is the WORST choice.

Maddox better not be a leader, it just doesn't fit. I believe that they are just a group, if the writers do make maddox the leader, the shield won't last very long. Paul heyman is probably the leader. Who knows, maybe The Rock hired them to ensure he faces punk and not ryback, maybe rock hired maddox as well.

Maddox better not be a leader, it just doesn't fit.

That's true; it doesn't. Brad Maddox has been a loner, a guy with no allies and seemingly no personal effect on the people whose affairs he's been barging into. His actions benefited Punk, yet the champion doesn't give Brad a second thought. Also, when Brad flattered Vickie Guerrero into giving him a match, her decision revolved more around her self-image than any consideration for Maddox. I don't know how long his program is going to last, but the idea of the loner joining a gang of thugs who tackle nothing as individuals is incongruous, to say the least.

As for the Shield, we've been forced to wonder whether they've been acting on Punk's behalf, right? But wouldn't it be ironic if they were working to benefit John Cena? After all, at Survivor Series, wasn't he the one about to get pinned before Shield intervened?

I've pretty much given up on the heel turn I thought was coming for Cena, so I don't think Shield is acting at his behest, but wouldn't it be interesting if Cena were the unwilling beneficiary of what they've been doing? That would be a swerve.

I was thinking Paul Heyman was the guy who was paying for the Shield. Keep in mind that the only question that Cole asked the Shield was, "Are you working with the WWE Champion, CM Punk?" and their answer was and still would be no. This is Paul Heyman here, the same guy who's notorious for backing the underdogs in the WWE. He could be doing this as a way to protect his investment in CM Punk, without letting CM Punk know what's going on.

Another possible name that hasn't been brought up is good ole' John Laurinaitis. Sure, nobody wants to see this guy return, but considering Laurinaitis' past involvement with BOTH of these men, I would not be in any way shape or form surprised if he was brought in as the mastermind behind the Shield. His purpose? Well, he could do it so he could "legitimize" the WWE title with more lengthy runs. Or maybe, he just doesn't want to have one of Vince's boys put in the spotlight anymore.

And finally, the last name I could come up with... is The Rock. Why? So that he could keep his match against Punk at Royal Rumble secured. I know that this one is a wild card, but it's not like Dwayne hasn't gone heel before... nor is it like he's been face, but done heel things in the past. I could see Rock doing something like this easily.

I don't think Maddox will have anything to do with the The Shield. He's got his own gimmick going on with the personal camera man thing. He's heading in a completely different direction to be remotely involved with The Shield.

Think of it:
maybe shield are working for the rock and they want to save punk as champion until the royal rumble so rock will be facing punk for the title.I think that Maddox will join the shield until the rumble.
At TLC punk will come and the shield will attack him from behind in the TLC match. And than the rock will came and tell them to keep attacking punk and than team hellNo & RyBack will get a sneak victory.
Couple of episodes of raw after RyBack will face punk for the title when the winner face rock for the title.
RyBack will lose by a disqualifcation after shield attack punk.

Shield could get a great push if they will enter as a group into the royal rumble and the final 4 will be them and RyBack and than RyBack will win.

It would be a great swerve as we think it’s all Hayman and CM Punk but it is really Mick. I think it would make sense. Think about it everyone they attacked had something to do with team Foley losing and Ryback "left" team Foley for a title match and abandon team Foley. Also who would think Ambrose and Foley are together after what happened a few months ago. And when all is said and done he does get his revenge on Punk as well. Foley could come out and be like he tired how he was being treated for so long yada yada yada. I am not saying this is what it is or happening I just think it would be a pretty good unsuspecting swerve.

I really wonder if they wrote themselves into a corner. Everyone seems to agree that Ryback AND The Shield have to win. Obviously this is impossible and one will lose. So the question is do you make Ryback lose a third straight PPV match (even if he doesn't get pinned and/or the other side cheats) or do you let Ryback win and make The Shield looks like a bunch of chumps? I don't think you can book The Shield losing and still make them look strong unless maybe you have Cena and Sheamus come out and cost them the match. Even then they will lose a lot of steam unless they do something "shocking" the next night on Raw and/or after the match.

Welcome AJ Lee new member of the Shield? After tonights TLC PPV (which is over so assuming it's not a spoiler)..

Could she have done what she did because she's the newest member of the Shield?

Did anyone else find it a little insensitive for the shield to still wear their military vests tonight when it was talked about all weekend how the Newtown Shooter wore a similar item? I'm not saying they should get rid of them entirely, but couldn't just black t-shirts been acceptable for tonight?

No, it's not insensitive, because they've been wearing them for damn near a month now. If the shooter wore a Cena shirt would you suggest Cena not wear one of his shirts tonight?

It is their gimmick. I mean, they are the SHIELD of JUSTICE, after all. I can see your point, but it is wrestling and even though it is PG, it wasn't really disrespectful. Our police still where vest everyday and honestly, it is what it is. What happened in Connecticut, is truly sad but I don't think the WWE is going to change outfits for the group that been wearing them for a month straight.

Have we really become this sensitive? This was one of those things that was so horrific that I didn't even register how many times they mentioned he had a vest on. I am sure he had socks and underwear on too. This was not insensitive in any way. They have wore the same attire since they debuted. I mean I didn't even put the two together until I read this thread. GSB said it best, anyone who would be that affected by this is not, and probably shouldn't be watching wrestling.

As soon as The Shield vs Team Hell NO & Ryback at TLC was over...I had to take a breather.

I am...an absolute...fan...of The Shield. Oh my god. These guys made an impact. Dean Ambrose had many shades of Jon Moxley in CZW when he hit his spots. I loved it. I think someone even called him Moxley when he was near the top of the ramp. It doesn't matter if he's Jon Moxley or Dean Ambrose, he has delivered on all levels so far from what I have seen. Golden. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns also held down their own and it was exciting. I love these guys' promos and the way they just isolate and dominate. I do hope The Shield continue to win matches against other wrestlers, including John Cena. These guys are on fire right now and the last thing that needs to happen is cool down their momentum. Ryback might eventually get a win, but right now, it's best to make the matches go down the way they did at the PPV with a different guy taking the pin-fall, thus saving Ryback's own momentum. Ryback still looked strong in that match, but man, The Shield are a fresh breed of bad guys that haven't been seen in a long time and I'm saying these guys aren't cowards. Most WWE villains have been cowards in recent memory with the exception of maybe Mark Henry, Big Show, Brock Lesnar and Antonio Cesaro. Awesome stuff.
