I've not really seen all that much thus far from The Shield that has impressed me. I do think all three guys have potential, but that will only get you so far. The Shield really hasn't had that single breakout moment that lets everyone know they are legit and have made it. I'll reserve in-depth judgement until I see how they are used and how their storyline plays out.

I guess WWE figured since Nexus worked so well and the Corre worked so well that they might as well do it all a third time with the Shield. They bore me. Its a really cheap way to promote a bunch of talent. Just say "oh we've got a bunch of guys from FCW ready to come up, lets dress them in black and have them just randomly ambush people".

Yawn. At least a Tommy Dreamer appearance came out of it.

See The Shield is bad ass. I went to TLC and when they came down from the crowd it was in the section I was in and everyone went nuts. Factions like The Shield are always great if done right. They give that edginess that the WWE has been missing...dare I say some "Attitude." But I'm confused as to why they haven't been on TV lately or did I miss something?

I've been impressed with them. I kind of hope they move away from Punk and just become a separate entity. They got a cool idea going for them. I dont think their needs to be some reveal that they were hired by Heyman or somebody.

I always thought the Rhode-Scholars should be the next tag team champs, but now I'm thinking it should be The Shield. They should beat Team Hell No. Since their kind of an "outsider" group they can use the freebird rule and have any 2 of the 3 defend the tag titles.

I was thinking about something last night, Since the Shield is all about bringing Integrity and Justice back to the WWE, and have been attacking big name stars, would anybody besides me would like to See the Shield trying to roll up on the Undertaker? We all know Undertaker only appears around Wrestlemania Season, which can be anyday day now problably during or after Royal Rumble. It might not happen, but if it was to happen, do you think it will be a success? And when would a great program like this would be able to take place. Since we know Undertaker is going to have a top named opponet, we know they definately not going to meet at Mania. You never know, Undertaker might be open to a summer appearance, and we can see a Undertaker vs. Shield feud finish at Summerslam. What you all think?

WWE doesn't do big swerves like they used to, but one that I feel could be pulled off perfectly would be for The Shield to align themselves with The Rock.

Have it turn out that Punk has been telling the truth the whole time, that he really isn't involved with The Shield in anyway. In reality the Shield was only keeping the title off Ryback so that Rock could be the one to kick Punks ass at the Rumble.

Rock, like Hogan in 96 is a Hollywood star working on a part time basis fighting who he wants, when he wants.

It'd be Survivor Series 98 all over again back when Rock was revealed as Mcmahons corporate champion. I for one want to see that heel Rock again.

Furthermore, this swerve plays right in to everything Punk has been saying. That the Rock is a fraud, that he isn't involved with The Shield, and that he's the most honest man in WWE, yet no one believes or respects him. It would only intesify his heel persona, that he was right all along and the idiot wwe universe couldnt see it

Plus, The Rock and Roman Reigns do share a bloodline. It makes alot more sense for Roman and company to associate themselves with The Rock than Punk. It gives new life to The Rock's character snd elevates The Shield to main event status, especially Roman.

The Shield: they did it for The Rock.

The only way I could see this working is if The Rock uses the Shield to manipulate Punk and then whoops their asses at Wrestlemania or after WM or something. Reveal that he only used them recently, to get to Punk, not that he's involved in some conspiracy. There won't be a Rock heel turn as this is likely his last run and they won't have him go out as a heel.

If anything, they should have John Cena revealed as the mastermind behind the Shield. It would be the ultimate swerve and would set him up as a MEGA-HEEL

This would be a pretty awesome swerve. I didn't even think of this until I read the title. It would be a cool twist; however, where would this leave CM Punk as the largest heel in the company? Rock would take over the spot and then disappear after WM. It would be like when Bret was the biggest heel in late 97, and then Shawn became the biggest heel at the same time.

Regardless, it's a pretty awesome idea

i think the shield is somehow with Cena. They havent attacked him knowing he is the top face. At the rumble, the shield will attack punk when the referee is down and the rock will leave with the wwe championship. Punk will come out next day of raw and say he had nothing to do with the Sheild all along and blame it on the rock.
Cena wants the Rock to be the champion so he can face him at Wrestlemania and beat him with the help of The Shield, hence, turning HEEL.
Punk can then go back being the top face and Cena as top heel.
just a thought.

As much as I'd like to see one more heel run by Rock, I simply don't see it happening. At this point in his career, regardless whether he's a heel or face, the fans will still cheer him, just like they did in 2003
P.S if Rock is the mastermind behind the sheild, then why the hell did they turn Punk heel in the first place?

This is simple, The Rock employed The Sheild to keep the title on Punk so that The Rock gets his shot at the Rumble with Punk and no one else. Everything else The Sheild has done is through their own will. The Rock blurs the heel/face line a little bit but it doesn't make him a heel. The Sheild stays heels, may be actually aligning with Punk. Cena has already forgotten his getting screwed over. The only one put in a tough spot with The Rock is Ryback. Maybe this turns Ryback or maybe he ignores The Rock and just focuses on The Sheild. While far from completely logical, this is simple enough and easy to execute in pro wrestling.

And then all Rock has to do is give them a beat down after he wins the belt, and he'll be a face, not a heel.

I believe the perfect solution for the shield is to have them be working for the Rock. Hear me out on this and why it would work to perfection. For months now, ever since they showed up, everyone assumed they were with Punk because they kept him from losing the title. But why wouldn't the Rock want punk to keep the title just as much as Punk did. Last time the Rock was there and proclaimed he would face the champion at Royal Rumble, the current champ laid him out "cold ". The Rock would want to get a little revenge on Punk for that no? The Rock was already slated for rumble so he would want to face Punk in that capacity no? Enter the shield, a group of "mercenaries "employed to keep Punk the champ so that he would face the Rock and the Rock could restore the right order in WWE. I mean am I the only one who notice that the shield have damn near the same attire as the Rock did in fast & furious? Now how does this benefit the shield. The shield are associated with the Rock whom unlike Punk, is a star in many areas and that can't be a negative. And how do you associate the shield with the Rock? Roman Reigns. Does anyone else realize that they are cousins? Ding ding ding you now have a motive and a link ti bring the Rock and the Shield together. In their interviews and even their run ins/matches, does it not seem that reigns is the leader? All I am saying is that the Rock as the leader would be a tremendous turn for the storyline to take

Oh c'mon, what does The Rock need to be the leader of The Shield for(and really do they even need a leader, has it been hinted at that they do have a secret leader?), that position would be a huge rub for the right superstar.

The Shield don't need a leader plus it makes zero sense turning the Rock heel against a heel CM Punk. What that would achieve is beyond me. The Shield I think will focus on their rivalry with Ryback, Orton and Sheamus and then after the Rumble focus on someone else

Doesn't brock lesnar have a sword tatto? Doesn't it make sense for brock lesnar to be the leader of the shield? Sword and shield?

This ^^^

I don't think they've got a leader either. It's too obvious to say that someone HAS TO be behind them. Actually, this could lead to the future break-up of the group someway down the line. Each of them thinks they are the leader of the group, arguements & slow implosion ensures & Rollins likely to turn face. But then that's too obvious to me as well, so whatever... :D

Anyway, all this talk of The Rock being the leader is pretty much people's fantasy here, because it would shake up the WWE. That's what we all want because we need something to set the WWE alight again. Something big to make it interesting to watch. To give it a kick up the backside. But alas, it's not to be.

I honestly at this point at least cannot see The Shield having a leader, they seems like the type of group where they all lead themselves (kind of like how The Corre was supposed to be), I mean of course, a leader could always be brought into the picture somewhere down the road but as of this moment, I don't think the WWE has one in mind.

It's an interesting thought though, The Rock as the leader of The Shield... maybe they could also bring up the fact that Reigns and Rocky are related... again though, don't see any leader and if they do, I'd bet money it isn't The Rock.

I dont mean to nitpick but anybody notice, i think its ambrose the blond one, lift his leg up way before Ryback goes to grab it.... It's not a big deal, just a stupid mistake why can't the wwe ever pay attention to details...

Like the Miz wearing a suit everytime for the show yet the time he gets put into a match because of it he is in his wrestling gear... I think it was smackdown last week or the week before.

I'm sure you sincerely didn't mean to nitpick, but dude, you totally just nitpicked.

Anyway, The Rock being revealed as the leader of The Shield doesn't work for me on any level. However...

Doesn't brock lesnar have a sword tatto? Doesn't it make sense for brock lesnar to be the leader of the shield? Sword and shield?

Now, when I first read this I thought, "That's neat, but Lesnar leading a group? No way." However, I thought about it some more and saw a potential side effect that I'd be all for- the Lesnar/Triple H rematch at 'Mania probably wouldn't happen. Chances are that, under that scenario, Brock would end up going against Ryback at 'Mania, in some shape or fashion.

My preferred version of this would be an 8-man tag match: Brock and The Shield vs. Triple H, Ryback, and two of the others that The Shield has victimized. That gives Triple H a chance to get at Brock, Ryback and their partners a chance to get at The Shield, and The Shield a chance to look strong and get a bump even in defeat. Hell, Trips could even get a nice, clean, ego-replenishing pinfall on Lesnar. If Lesnar doesn't want to do a deal with WWE, The Shield can say they booted him after costing them the match. Storylines get tied up, everybody moves on to fresh programs, and I don't have to watch Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar II. Everybody's a winner!*

*Except for the people who want to see Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar II. They would most likely not feel like winners in this scenario.

I think WWE is short on main-event-caliber faces. Cena is had his run, but I think he's even wearing on his fans - he's always been hot or cold to most people. They seem to prefer Punk in the heel role. But who are your other main event face 'draws'? Sheamus? Meh. Alberto Del Rio? Eh. Miz? Nope. Ryback? Too one-dimensional. That's why the WWE has needed to bring back former superstars so much lately - hell, even Mr. McMahon has been more of a face.

Meanwhile, you've got a great heel in Punk who has basically done all he can in terms of defeating your company's top faces. He's already beaten Cena on numerous occasions.

At the same time, you've got this Shield group that is still a mystery - which is just about all they have going for them since we really haven't seen them wrestle any matches. But they apparently lean heel.

So turning the Rock heel might not be the best move right now - although I think it would be fun. I mean, where do you go from there? It's a great swerve and all, but what do you do? Does Punk become a face? Do you make Paul Heyman turn on him as well? (Something I think needs to happen regardless). Obviously, for Punk to turn face you'll need some sort of cataclysmic event that ingratiates him back to the fans.

If you put the strap on the Rock, and you make him leader of the Shield, then you've got a fun little heel faction there. But who faces him? Cena? Seems like a tired old premise to me. Might as well bring Stone Cold back. :D

Honestly, I would keep the Shield leaderless for now. Have them help Punk win the title. Continue to make it seem iron clad that Punk is the leader, then - from out of left field - you have a surprise superstar return to be the leader and have him take out Punk. This could either be someone like Jeff Hardy, who's had a more public past feud with punk, or you could do something like bring someone he feuded with in RoH or NXT or something like that. Someone he supposedly 'wronged' along the way.

They've done a great number on Rock but what's really left for the Shield. They've gotten terribly stale already. They should've been dominant from Day one and made a stronger impact

Very glib interpretation.

What's left for them? A whole heck of a lot, not the least of which is a full reveal/explanation of their actual leader and motivations. They've only had one match thus far, and if you don't look forward to The Shield's in-ring future, I don't know what to tell you. The Shield is a long way from exhausting their potential.

As far as them being stale, that's just a patience issue. In the past, I've seen fans complain about angles being rushed and, in cases like this, I see fans complain that the angle isn't moving fast enough. WWE is damned if they do and damned if they don't in regards to this complaint. Personally, I'd almost always prefer the slow reveal to giving everything away up front, so I'm fine with the pace that The Shield is moving at.

When it comes to being dominant and having made a strong impact, I don't even know what to tell you. It's like you're watching a different show than me. I wouldn't want them to be any more dominant, personally. They haven't exactly been beating up the Yoshi Tatsu's and JTG's of the world.

They've been making a strong impact. Remember, The Shield is similar to Nexus; they aren't supermen as individuals....instead, they accomplish their dirty deeds with superior numbers. Individually, they can be beaten, and when confronted with equal resistance, they'll be forced to flee.

In other words, they're bullies.....just the type of people we've all faced in our pasts. We hate them, we avoid them.....yet we often pretend to be on their side so they won't turn on us, right? (Remember Chris Jericho with Nexus?)

The Shield's early appeal is based on the lack of information we have about them. We really don't know what their mission is, although we suspect they might be working for C.M. Punk, if for no other reason than they haven't attacked any bad guys yet. It's an interesting gimmick and will be milked as long as the writers can keep it going.

But the group dynamic is always a fascinating concept, isn't it? The Shield is fearsome, mysterious and baffling. Compare that to 3MB, which has been around a little longer. No mystery to them, right? Whatever impact they were supposed to make has been negated by the fact that in three straight matches, the three of them have been beaten up by one man. They're more interested in playing their instruments than making an impact in the ring.

The Shield's mission is still unknown to us, while 3MB has already become a joke. That's why Creative will keep the Shield's gimmick going.

Not all bullies are alike.

Is it really going to happen like this? Are you happy about this turn of events? What am I talking about? Well... on Raw tonight, Vince McMahon held an in-ring live evaluation of Paul Heyman. During which, Vince played a video showing Paul Heyman talking to Brad Maddox. Heyman was saying things like "Punk and I pay you", "we don't pay you as much as The Shield because they get better results"... basically confirming Paul Heyman has been pulling the strings of both The Shield and Brad Maddox. Then The Shield appears behind Maddox in the video and proceeds to whip his @$$. Then, back in the ring, Heyman denies that it was him in the video. Then, Brock Lesnar appears and delivers an F5 to Vince.

So, are CM Punk, The Shield, Lesnar, Heyman, and Maddox WWE's newest stable? Or perhaps, did CM Punk know nothing about what Heyman was doing with those other dudes? His devilish smile after the lights came back on at the Rumble makes me think he's supposed to be in on it, but who knows how they'll spin it.

So... what does everyone want to see come of this whole angle? Do you want CM Punk to NOT have known and go after Heyman, Lesnar, etc. Do you want them to form a huge stable? And if you do like the idea of "The Paul Heyman Guys", what would you like to see them do? Should they go around laying people out and talking about a takeover or justice or something? Should they rack up on titles? How do you see it playing out, and what would you like to see happen?
