Dusty Rhodes is slated to be the guest host for Raw this Monday, reports PWInsider.com. Numerous sources claim the final call was made last night to put Rhodes in this week. WWE or WWE.com has not made any official announcement about it yet, however.

So, looks like we're going to have Dusty Rhodes hosting Raw this week...and all I can say is why? Seriously, why? I mean, I suppose this makes sense considering Cody's current role with the promotion, but am I the only one who remembers just how unbelievably terrible on the microphone Dusty Rhodes is? Has to be considered among the worst commentators in the history of professional wrestling (He got a bicycle!).

I suppose this could be mildly entertaining. I've never been a big fan of Rhodes though. We'll have to see. Thoughts everyone?

I'll leave you with this video, which never fails to make me laugh.

If he elevates Cody somewhat, like DiBiase Sr. did for Ted, well it would be good for Cody I guess.. I don't see the point now that they are at war with DX, just seems like a filler that would have been better weeks ago perhaps.

I'm looking forward to Dusty Rhodes as the guest GM as I've always been entertained by him. I think he had/has great charisma (I would argue that he is good on the mic and I particularly like some of his older promos such as 'Hard Times' and what not). Anyway, in my opinion Dusty hosting RAW does make sense...they had Ted's dad do him a few favours so why not let Dusty do something for Cody? Maybe they will have Dusty work against his son considering how he is almost always a face when he appears on WWE TV? Regardless of which direction they go, this is probably the guest host who I will be most anticipating. Overall, considering I am a fan of the Rhodes family in general I would say that I'm excited for the upcoming RAW....yes indeed.

I'm not sure about Dusty Rhodes, if he will be good or not. I mean he is charismatic and I personally feel he is decent on the mic. But I think he should have guest hosted within a week or two of the Million Dollar Man, instead of waiting this long. The could have continued with the inner-bickering a little more. Now I am sure something like that will happen again, but I don't think it will work now, Legacy is tighter than ever now, and Dusty Rhodes will screw that up somehow. I think it might be ver awkward, kind of like with Slaughter. Hopefully I am wrong as I love Dusty Rhodes, but I guess we will have to wait and see.

If the worst possible thing happened on RAW, which is The Jonas Brothers hosting RAW? I for one would probably just not watch that week and then continue watching after that, unless of course somebody shittier hosted the show next week.

I have been looking out for this terrible possibility ever since the guest host concept has been announced. Especially after a band has already guest hosted RAW (ZZ Top). Not to mention that WWE is gearing a bit more towards kids these days and unfortunately The "Joe Bros" are what some kids actually like these days (gag) :disappointed:

Anyway since this was on my mind I decided to warn you guys of this possibility and just to see what your guy's thoughts, opinions and overall shit level for this atrocity would be. Cheers and happy posting :)

So, just to be clear, we're working under the assumption that the Jonas Brothers would be the worst possible choice for guest host of Raw, is that right?

I don't know enough about these kids to base a "Will I or Won't I watch" kind of decision. I'd end up watching it, in the hopes they pull a Piven, and bring a special guest with. Namely, my boy Jonny Lang, who's playing blues guitar, and producing their new record. And even if they don't, they'll be on my screen for a total of what, 15 minutes? I think I could live with it.

If The Jonas Brothers ever hosted Raw, I would punt kick Mickey Mouse right in his testicles. Actually, now that I think about it, hearing them being booed out of the arena would be worth it. Or the possibility of them being Orton punted in the fucking nugget. Especially if they fucked up and accidently took a real kick like Cena's dad did. That would be pretty sweet. Maybe I'm being too harsh.

LOLLLLL i couldnt of said it any better myself. I appreciate that you have actully bought up the possability of the Jonas Brothers hosting a raw. I Can't actully see WWE going that far in terms of connecting with the kiddies it is PG but its not G.

Good thread.

I'd watch it, because guest hosts take up about 10 minutes of air time. Maybe an extra 10 if they're involved in the ending segment. Oh that ruins my two hour RAW. It's not like theyre going to play Kofi Kingstons entrance theme, then be guest hosts on MVP's VIP lounge, then guest announce for a tag team divas match. If they guest hosted, I'd get over it because its wrestling, and they're just as feminine as Seth Green was.

Plus their music is extremely enjoyable to listen to, just hanging out with friends. anybody else love Burnin' Up?

Horns Out,

Mantaur Rodeo Clown.

I think if Jonas bros ever hosted Raw, it would officially be the moment that Raw jumped the shark. lol

Would be great to see them get beat down tho!

I dont know if anyone has done this yet but the WWE RAW Guest Hosting was good at first but now its getting lame after Jeremy Piven calling Summer Slam Summer Fest I was done with the whole guest hosting its pointless WWE just needs to pick someone soon and have them as the GM because every match is the same with the guest hosts and thats why RAW is boring again I wanna know how you guys feel about it as well.

I'm enjoying the Raw Guest Host idea, keeps things interesting. I think the WWE has found a good balance of having the celebrity hosts on the spot but they don't ultimately dominate the show and overshadow the WWE wrestlers.

I don't find Raw boring at all, I think it's very much improved over the course of the year, particularly the past few months. The mid-card scene on Raw has built up nicely, I give a shit about the United States Championship, I'm actually excited to see a tag title match now, and the guest hosts have just been primarily a little boost overall. Some of the celebrity hosts have sucked, ZZ Top was hands down the worst, but I've enjoyed the others for the most part. Jeremy Piven is a bit of an asshole for not bothering to familiarize himself with the WWE product a bit and then badmouthing the company during interviews he gave the next day.

The guest host, overall, has really only had limited impact on the show overall. They do a promo in the ring, do a segment or two backstage, sometimes get involved in the ME and that's about it. Plus, the fact that Raw's viewership has increased by about 10% shows that the guest host aspect has generated some healthy interest. Some of the hosts have been wrestlers or former wrestlers themselves and the shows have consistently drawn well. So, as long as this keeps up, the guest host idea isn't going away for a while.

So I was just reading the "When Do You Think Cena Will Leave" thread and it got me thinking about what would happen if The Rock guest hosted an episode of Raw. How would you react? Would you mark out? How do you think he would be portrayed, heel or face? Just a general what if.......

I'd have to say, for me, I'd boo the shit out of him. I'd like him to be portrayed as a heel as I think that the reaction in the arena would be similar to mine for the most part. I was completely behind Cena in regards to his comments towards Mr. Johnson. Not necessarily because I feel Rocky disrespected wrestling by leaving, but more so in the sense that he doesn't even reference the WWE anymore. I think he respects the wrestling business for where it got him, he just doesn't show it too well. What do you guys think?? Will it ever happen?

I think if they do bring Rock as Guest host i have a feeling rock will find a way to ruin cena's job in wwe lol. Fight with him backstage no cameras because it could be real. Then draft him to Ecw lol.
Cena would be like"Why did u----Rock;It dosnt matter what you say"
lol it would be mad cool if it happend and i would never have to see john cena

he should be guest host...RAW, WWE and wrestling itself could win too much thanks to his presence, but the point is....it wouldn't benefit the Rock. I would love to: guests hosts are not good anymore for me, and the fact the Rock returning for 1 night could help people of all ages to remember what was the Attitude Era (thing that I'm sure, VKM does not want to)

For every fan that would boo the rock if he were to host raw, there would be at least 2 fans that would be cheering their a$$es off. as much as people say that the rock no longer respects the business because he no longer refers to it and because he officially dropped "the rock" from his name when he is in a movie, there is always going to be those diehard rock fans that will cheer at anytime for him...myself included.

I think I'll actually scream if the rock returns..without a doubt, if WWE hypes it well enough, he will have the biggest pop of the entire year. theres no question the WWE misses the rock, and it will be one episode of raw not many people will forget.

wrestling's a tough business..ya it brought the rock somewhere..but it also brought alot of 40+ superstars to their untimely death

Alright, im pretty sure that when the guest host idea was introduced, probobly 90% of the people who come on this site thought how awsome it would be if the Rock was guest host.

What i have basically wanted since the Rock left was for him to come back, but when i say come back, i mean i want him to show up on a show for even just 1 night and maybe cut a few promos. I would love to see him wrestle a match along with probobly everyone in the world, but i know it will obviously not happen. All i want is for him to come on RAW. In my opinion, it will happen sometime, and when it does we will all be excited.

I know that when this thread gets viewed by tons of people, most people will say "the rock is never coming back", but that is their opinions, but i do believe sometime in the future the rock will make somewhat of an appearance on RAW. He hasnt done this since 2007, but you dont want a lot of appearances by him cause too many will make us lose interest in it, but when it happens once every 2-3 years its awsome.

The Rock won't make an appearance. Maybe at the 20 year anniversary he'll do a video segment, but he flat out doesn't care about it anymore. Wrestling isn't and won't be important to him anymore. I'm sure he's grateful for what the WWE did for him, but it's not even in his mind anymore.

It would be rather unlikely for The Rock to be the guest host. I hear that he wants to distance himself from the WWE as much as possible. But if he showed up to induct his father and grandfather in the Hall of Fame, then I guess it isn't completely out of the question for The Rock to guest host Raw.

I think that The Rock might switch from heel to face throughtout the show if he guest hosted. He would probably just do good for the superstars that he liked. That's just my opinion.

now the thing for me is this....I for one would love to see The Rock guest host WWE Raw for the only purpose being he and Cena could could make a really hyped show, and i know for a fact that no matter how much the fans might be pissed at him for leaving WWE and never mentioning it again that they would still love to see him in that WWE Ring again, even though he won't be wrestling (that's for sure)

i would just love to see him come to Raw and have a minor or major argument with John Cena and maybe even out of a miracle get The Rock vs John Cena

all you people that are like the wwe gave the rock so much the wwe gave him a career... Im pretty sure The Rock was the one with the charisma, The Rock was the one with the talent, his merchandise sold and he created fans across the world for the WWE. You have it in reverse. The WWE owes The Rock.

And as much as i would love for him to come back from and host RAW for 'one more match!' I put it up there with one of the most inprobable things that are going to happen like Undertaker turning heel.

By the way, if you booed him, you're a fucking moron

And if the WWE didn't give him a job, he'd be doing what exactly? Perhaps he would have gotten into movies anyway, but it would not have been as easy without his built in fan base. If it wasn't for the WWE and it's fans, the Rock would have been Dwayne Johnson, just another former college football player.

Mate, my point is that it's because he was good at what he did that he got the fans, it's because he has charisma to get people jumping out of their seats, thats why he had fans.

Granted he needs to be given a chance by the WWE to get a shot at wrestling, but it is rare that WWE don't give third generation wrestlers a shot in the ring, just so Cole can say "he is a third generation star."

They even named their second Free to air program after one of his sayings being "smackdown."

And i dont even particularly like The Rock, but i understand what he has done for the wrestling business and what HE did for the WWE, not the other way around.

First of all, I would definately boo him the minute his music hit, and no, I'm not a "fucking moron". Now on to more pressing matters.

He owes the WWE more than they owe him. Without Rock, there would still have been a Stone Cold Steve Austin, who was, BY FAR, a bigger star than Rock. Without the WWE, The Rock might have never made it onto the big screen and might have just been another washed up college football player. Without the WWE, Rock might have been nothing. Without Rock, the WWE would be right where it is today with the exception of Smackdown. It would have just had a different name.
