Indeed it does. Mine almost got ripped out and that hurt bad enough.

My eyebrow piercing was growing out, and I got it caught and ripped it out, and it was only a little bit of skin, but it hurt and bled for ages.
Also I have been stretching my nose piercing from a 0.2 to a 1.2, which is nothing really, but it hurt so much It sent me all funny, and I don't normally feel pain, it knocked me so funny today that I burnt my thumb on my hair straighteners, and then stuck my finger in my cup of tea and burnt both of them
