March Madness 2014 Live Discussion

Believes in The Shield!
Since it doesn't seem to have a lot of interest, there's not really a point to make a bunch of threads per each game. So here's one for anybody who wants to talk about March Madness 2014 Tournament games.

My favorite team LSU's out of the running, but it doesn't mean I can't still watch.

I'll start by saying how terrible the seeds are for this tournament. The A-10 got way too much love with 6 teams. Virginia as a 1 is a joke, and Louisville as a 4 is an embarrassment to anyone who worked on the committee.

*Agrees with everything Shocky said*

*Rushes to go pick Harvard over Cincy*

If Harvard scores in a frenzy, we're in trouble. It's one of those odd matchups. I honestly think if UC survives the first weekend, the second weekend is a cake walk to the final four. Harvard has me concerned, but not worried.

Shocking. I heard a lot of noise about Harvard upsetting Cincy being a real possibility. Not very often that it actually happens.

A 12 seed defeats a 5 fairly regularly. Since 1985, there's only been 3 years where they didn't ('88, '00, '07).

So far I have gotten one wrong (I blindly picked my bracket)...unfortunately the one I got wrong was Western Michigan which I apparently picked to go to the final four.

The only team I picked on purpose was Michigan/Michigan State and Michigan is winning right now so I'm happy.

I know, but typically it's the shocking 12 seed upset over the 5 seat, not the one everyone picks because of that reason. I'm not making any sense on this.

Go NDSU!

Oh that feels good. Duke loses a glorified home game after the NCAA tries to hand them a pass into the Sweet Sixteen. Life is good.

I had such immense pleasure scratching off and destroying the bracket of the Duke fan in my office.

Aside from how good Duke is, I've never understood why people dislike them. It simply doesn't make sense as to how people can not like a classy program like Duke, where the kids are generally good kids, they go to class and graduate and their coach is about as classy as they come.

We need more basketball programs like Duke in college basketball.

I'm guessing it's due to the media attention they get. Like the Cowboys, Yankees, Lakers all get for being more talked about than anyone else

The NCAA tournament is my favorite sporting even all year long! There is so much to like about it. This year especially, I feel like they could play the tournament 10 times and have at least 7 different winners, maybe a full 10! In a one game scenario, anything can happen. One of these days a 16 will beat a 1.

I totally understand what you are saying in this post... and I would agree. I have SEVERAL brackets this year.... I picked Harvard in every single one of them, I was pretty confident in them, but... I also had Duke and Oklahoma State picked in each bracket, not only to win in the first round, but I had each going pretty far. Today was very tough, especially since Duke is my favorite team. (Go ahead, hate me, I know it is coming)

I get that, but unlike the Cowboys, Yankees and Lakers they don't do anything to make you not like them. Jerry Jones is a joke. The Yankees try to buy championships instead of developing them like other teams have to (and America hates rich people spending money to get their way). And the Lakers have been dysfunctional since Kobe arrived.

But Duke isn't like that at all. Coach K is a classy coach. He preaches a great message. His players graduate and aren't ********s on the court or off. Yes, they are successful, but there's really no other reason to dislike them.

I guess I speak as more of an old man, but it bothers me that a team/program who does things the right way has such hatred from people. It's like people forget what college sports are supposed to be about.

Will you be my new best friend? I couldn't have said it better myself! I'm 33 now... I've been a Duke fan since 92, when I was 11!

HOLY FUCK! DID ANYONE SEE THE STEPHEN F. AUSTIN VS. VCU GAME?! HOLY SHIT!

VCU is up 4 points with like 7 seconds like. 4 points. Can't lose...right? Unless...

Yes, with 3 seconds like, a guard from SFA shoots a three, makes it AND gets fouled. He then makes the FT and we're heading to overtime.

God, I love basketball.
