He was on Smackdown, learning... improving.. pushed a little to fast but ok... and then he was drafted to ECW... ECW? (That was back in the days when I thought ECW is extreme) Lashley is not a hardcore wrestler, he get's pushed to the moon with no credible opponent left.. after that.. the battle of the billionaires and with whom did this guy who hasn't shaped up any charisma have to get over.. Donald Trump?... the billionaire $$$hole that behaved like a little kid in his argument with Rosie 'all for the ratings' O'Donnel... I didn't care for McMahon's hair at all, cause he he hadn't any dignity left to lose on TV imho and the self centered arragont Trump without hair.. that would have been great wouldn't it... but all went down as predicted... not that Trump putted much effort in this feud.. he had 3 appearances, some Interviews where he called Lashley 'Lindsay' and 2 video promos.
The battle of the billionaires hype was over, but McMahon wanted his revenge and continue the push... during the worker vs. evil boss storyline we all already saw with austin where he sucked the last bit of credibilty out of the ECW World Championship, but we had Austin instead of Lashley.. Austin has a great charisma and great mic skills. Personally I did not like him too much in the ring but that didn't matter that much. He was a beer bashing rebell people could identify with, cause most people like beer and hate their boss... and then we have lashley, a big muscular highly trained (no matter what 'supplements' he used) athletic guy, 3 times national champion, 2 time armed forces champion etc... well, I doubt many people (including me) can identify themselves with that... (he doesn't even like beer :X) anyway, he was impressive and managed to get over. But take away the evil boss and that's not gonna last long unless he gets another top heel as opponent.
The draft came, and I thought... ok.. maybe they move him back to Smackdown (where he shouldn't have been drafted away imho) but then.. RAW.. the A-Show with the top guys, the big egos and the other superman Cena, now they pulled the trigger for the big match between the two indestructibels. I doubt he will win, and I'm curios about the fan reactions... how will the fans react in this 'Pick your Poison' situation... time will tell...
Personally, I like him.. I think he is a good powerhouse wrestler and most importantly to me, he is improving. He can be pulled to a good match and his selling improved. (compare how Cena sold the RKO at Vengeance and how Lashley sold it a week before) His workrate is acceptable and I think he is capable of doing any power move or suplex and that's why I don't understand why they chose a simple running powerslam as finisher. The 'real' Dominator (invertend front powerslam) he did when he started on Smackdown was way better imho.
BUT he just shouldn't talk. His voice doesn't fit to a guy like him and his lines are horrible. If he does his lines himself, he should get help and if not.. he should get another writer imho. "I want the WWE Championship"... that's how a little girl asks for candy, and not how a 270 pound guy demands a titleshot...
But give him some time and let his opponent or a mouthpiece talk for him, and he can be a good worker in the future... no champion, but the guy who puts the top heels over.
