Kofi Heel Turn

I am a big fan of Kofi Kingston, i think he has good in ring ability and charisma and he already seems to be way over with the crowd. Yet, many people including myself think his character has become a bit stale possibly hindering a push into the main event title picture.

I feel that if Kofi was to lose the Intercontinental title post Wrestlemania to someone like Evan Bourne if he gets drafted, or Sin Cara and used this to turn into a cocky, brash type heel it could provide him with the momentum necessary to propel himself into the main event.

I think he definently has the charisma to pull off the cocky orton legend killer style heel and in doing so could potentially have some great fueds with the likes of Edge, Christian, Burne, or even do something with Dashing Cody.

So do you think a heel turn for Kingston would be a good idea and if so how would you go about doing it and who would he fued with?

This is interesting. Well I disagree because I feel he needs to be built more as a face, drop the title to Cody Rhodes (Who else besides Swagger?) have a feud, drop out of the I.C picture, be used to push a heel, then in a tag team match just SNAP! Have him paired with JTG (If JTG doesn't get endeavored first) and after JTG costs him the match have Kofi just attack him and absolutely decimate him. have Kofi destroy JTG in a feud (JTG can be replaced with another face in this feud, only a mid carder or lower) than next week have Kofi come out and cut a promo trashing America and it's people. This will lead a high face (Maybe Edge or Rey) to come out and defend the fans (Even though they both don't seem like 'All Americans' but the crowd won't care) this will lead to a feud with either and at Fatal Four Way (Or after dunno how long this will take) have the WHC, his opponent he's ben fueding with, Kofi, and his fued partner. For purposes we will say in this match will be Del Rio, Edge, Rey, and Kofi. That's how I would do it

Yeh thats a good idea as well I think Edge would be the better choice to come out and confront him as Edge is superior on the mic to Rey enabling him and Kofi to have some good verbal jousts and cut some good promos helping push his heel angle.

Although if JoMo as speculated does come to Smackdown in the draft a fued with him and heel Kofi could also be good the matches would be fantastic, full of athleticism and it would grant JoMo a much need opportunity to show the fans his character and solidify his mic work whilst doing the same foe heel kofi.

He definently does need to drop the IC belt soon though.

I don't think this would work. Kofi is one of the few stars who looks like a career babyface and he is so over in this role I doubt the fans would even take him seriously if they tried to turn him.

His style and moveset are perfectly designed for a babyface and he has the perfect look for a 'good guy'. Hell, just look at the guys smile!!

One thing that could work is adding a bit more edge to his character. They did this in the Ziggler feud and recently on Smackdown when he thrashed Del Rio with that enormous bamboo stick (or whatever it was) when he lost it completely. I like this side of his character and they could play on it more imo.

But as a fully blown heel? I just can't see it. Another thing to note is the lack of top babyfaces on Smackdown. A heel turn for Kofi would only serve to increase the imbalance. It's actually much tougher to be a good babyface imo and Kofi takes to it naturally through his look and personality.

Yeah thats a good point he does have a lot of natural characteristics suited to being a face although you could say the likes of Rock and Y2J have these as well yet both are able to utilise these attributes excellently to play convincing heels when needed.

I think Kofi could be similarly adaptable in that sense although obviously on a lesser scale and the raft could allow more upper-mid card face superstars in need of a push eg Evan Bourne, JoMO, R-Truth to transfer to Smackdown.

But yeah even if you don't think its achievable like you said if he was just granted a storyline or a good fued as a face which would allow him to showcase some more personality and work on his mic skills. I think his natural charisma in doing this could push him into the main event, the personality factor is the only thing he really lacks in my view.

The Rock and Y2J are much more versatile and talented that Kofi imo - and thats taking nothing away from him at all. These guys are the best the business has ever seen.

It's true that Kofi has stagnated in the past year, and hasn't got near that ME status that he had against Orton. I guess holding the IC strap keeps him relevant for the time being, but I'm not sure he really needs it much atm. If anything it's just been used to elevate the status of del Rio by having a midcard champ job clean on two occasions.

I think Kofi is a lot better on the mic than people credit him for. He is much better than Ziggler and a lot of the other guys on Smackdown as well. I think fans would invest even more in his character if they gave him more time on the mic and they could add weight to his personality.

I think if they were going to turn him heel they could do it after a small main event push which ultimately fails. But I think there is still a lot of development to be done with his current gimmick, and that begins with giving him the mic more often in a strong and meaningful upper midcard or Main Event feud.

He's ready, thats for sure

I am a big fan of Kofi, I was like a giddy kid all throughout his feud with Orton and that boom drop in the crowd was stuff of legend I think. Another thing is that I dug the hell out of the segment when he trashed Orton's car. Even though he was trippin every which way possible he showed some chops and showed the right level of intensity in that promo I really enjoyed it. I wish he would get back into a solid feud and give us more segments like that. Then I could see him going somewhere.

Yeah exactly he definently just needs more promo time and a good rivalry with a top superstar. If he gets it sson i think thatl be eough to get him into the main event, if he doesnt i fear we might see another carlito ( who in my view was also charismatic and good enough to be champ) type scenario of a gradual drop down the rankings.

kofi will never be out of the mid card he has no charisma whatsoever. Hes boring. boom boom.

He has a couple good moves here and there but theres far more talented guys on the roster.

Kofi turning heel woul probably kill the little momentum he has right now...only 12 year olds and younger like him and if hw turns heel they will hate him and there goes kofi. boom boom.

I wouldnt mind seeing a kofi orton feud that ended with an rko and punt to the skull
