Kliq/DX/NWO

Last night at Mania we all saw the NWO go face to face with DX in the midst of the HHH vs Sting match - I have read many comments that talked about marking out at seeing this & how awesome it was to see these two legendary factions face off. There is even buzz around the net about could there be a match of these two going head to head in the near future....NWO vs DX.

But after hearing all the talk, rethinking the HOF & rewatching the HHH vs Sting match Ive got a question........AREN'T YOU TIRED OF THE KLIQ YET?!

Back in the day I was the biggest NWO fan walking!! I had ever shirt, the spray painted belt, etc - if they made it I had it......But That Was Then! Sure it's great to see old factions reunite & names from our childhood come out of the shadows from the time to time but Ive got to say I'm getting wore down by how often the KLIQ/DX (I put Flair in this as well) show up & are mentioned. I known they are HHHs boys but wouldn't you like to see a little variety from time to time?

In closing I've got just one final question......DOES THE KLIQ/DX SHOWING UP SO OFTEN SHOW HHH BIASED TO HIS FRIENS OR ARE THEY THE ONLY ONES THAT WILL MAKE AN APPEARANCE? I look forward to your input.

(I know some of you are going to bring up Rock, Piper, Hart, etc.....but you've got to admit that we might see them often but it's still not as often or as over done as the KLIQ)

I had no issues with DX/NWO/KLIQ last night. It was a match full of nostalgia and these two factions imply added too it.

I would like to see Sting/Hogan/Hall/Nash vs Triple H/X-Pac/Gunn/Dogg at a PPV but not so sure it will happen. It would be a nice way for Sting to avenge his Mania loss but I have a feeling that could be it for Sting.

Hopefully I'm not alone in saying that I thought the match took the wrong turn to ridiculous last night. I'm all for nostalgia, and from that point of view, it was incredibly entertaining. Nostalgia aside, it was unnecessary and ridiculous. DX was one thing and I could accept that, but when the nWo hit the ring, it was like the retirement home had invaded WrestleMania. I mean, come on guys, what was this all about? All along, they have been saying it's not about WWE vs WCW, and last night it was exactly about that.

The match was going great before all this happened. I was thoroughly enjoying it and just marking out at the fact that Sting was performing at WrestleMania, and performing well. The involvement of DX and the nWo, for me, did nothing for the match other than add a sense of cool nostalgia. Usually I don't mind the Kliq. Their three hundred-plus reunions the past couple of years is a little overkill at times, but their lack of involvement in storylines I think means I can accept that. But this is just a no for me.

I don't want to come across as some typical angry mark or anything, because I'm not. I just don't understand why last night's events had to happen. The Kliq still being a thing is fine with me, but I don't think we needed this. I'm not tired of the Kliq, but I didn't care for their participation last night. I understand a lot of people did though, and if you enjoyed it, hopefully you got all you wanted from it.

Normally I don't care. Yesterday was definitely fan service for sure. What I am tired of is the nonsensical writing.

Shawn Michaels is retired and says he will not come back to in ring work - but he always manages to get involved in HHH's big matches and then disappears.

The two thirds of the nWo is made of members of "the kliq." The last two hall of fame endings were nothing but a Kliq fest. The next night the those two friends are against HHH and XPac? There is no rhyme of reason. It's not even "just business." Awful writing for the sake of fan service.

And then the whole nWo on Sting's side? Awful writing for the sake of fan service.

That match needed all those run ins and shenanigans imo. The match was pretty flat and it picked up once it happened. It was a great moment seeing the NWO and DX go at it. It's WM I had no problems with it. My biggest gripe was Sting losing but we know Vince is petty. So it is what it is.

The involvement of DX and the nWo, for me, did nothing for the match other than add a sense of cool nostalgia.

I can agree with that, yet point to the notion that having Sting and Triple H battling could qualify as cool nostalgia all by itself. They worked slowly and rather carefully, rationing the energy of both guys while still telling an effective story. It was great to see.

I can also agree that the match alone would have been enough to carry the segment. Yet, the appearance of DX and NWO caught everyone in my house last night totally by surprise.....reminding everyone that when things like this are going to happen, it'll be at Wrestlemania.

It was great to see X-Pac do something in the ring, after having watched him in several other appearances with his old gang in which he only appeared on a stage. I also was wondering why HBK didn't initially come out with his DX buddies; after all, we knew he was in town for the HOF ceremony....and what a treat it was to see him deliver Sweet Chin Music. It was also amusing to realize that Kevin Nash could have appeared with either DX or NWO, right?

Of course, the effect of DX and NWO contributed to Sting's surprising loss, but at least gives him a pass, perhaps setting up more in-ring appearances for him......presumably without outside interference.

One thing: I wasn't following WCW in their latter days.....did it make sense for NWO to be supporting Sting? Wouldn't they sooner have attacked him?

I understand why they overbooked the match. Beyond the "it's Wrestlemania" spectacle part of it... Sting hadn't worked a match in over a year, and Triple H in almost that long. They needed to do something in case either couldn't fully go.

But the booking itself was non-sensical. During the build, didn't Sting explicitly say that this wasn't a WWE/WCW thing, but rather him calling out the power mad authority? Yet in the match itself, it becomes a WWE versus WCW thing. DX coming out for Triple H in that regard makes sense (although for the storyline during the build, Kane and the Big Show would have made more sense)... but for the 'WCW' side of things, why the NWO? They've spent the last several years blurring the lines between the NWO and DX. Several guys have been in both. They constantly have the NWO kliq members palling around with Triple H on camera. And even though he was in NWO Wolfpac for a bit, Sting was the NWO's enemy. Especially the Hogan/Hall/Nash version that came out to help him

Wouldn't it have made more sense to get actual WCW guys involved for Sting? Flair was in the building. Booker T would have been perfect. Pull a surprise by bringing out Goldberg and Steiner for a night.

Then at the end... why is Sting shaking Triple H's hand after the Game basically screwed him out of the win? Is Sting now OK with Triple H's abuse of authority?

im justifying it as after the Hall of Fame the Kliq went to an after party. Nash or Hall asked Triple H what was his game plan vs Sting. and he, Shawn, or X-Pac told them the plan was if Sting looked like he was about to win DX would jump him. Hall and Nash being friends of Sting now post WCW going out. remember Sting was in The Band with them in TNA before Nash and Hall left TNA, and Sting was nWo (wolfpack but still). Didn't like what they were going to do to Sting. so after the party they called/met up with Hulk and decided that if DX did interfere they should come out to protect Sting.

Hmm It was a nice moment to see the NWO and DX but they were used to help the slow match that the WWE expected from Sting and HHH. It made no sense from a storyline because DX has not been involved with the Authority in almost a year. Furthermore, Sting was never a major part of the original NWO.

Furthermore, HHH, X Pac, Nash and Hall all stood on stage the night before doing the Klik hand sign. The suspension of disbelief was gone.

I am unsure what this match was meant to achieve and what the narrative was. I fully expect Sting to have at least one more match before going in the HOF.

The most incredible sight of the match was seeing Scott Hall take a bump like he did after all he has been through - what a legend!

The most weird sight was HHH and Sting shaking hands after HHH cheated to win (even if it was NO DQ) - especially considering their background storyline (when WWE could be assed to pay attention to detail anyway).

The DX and NWO run ins were all for nostalgia factor. Those factions were on top during the most successful and profitable era of pro wrestling, and the DX vs NWO has always been a dream match. This is the closest thing we'll ever get.

That being said, my first thought is where does this go? Great, HBK screws Sting. Normal booking would suggest the set up of a match, but Michaels is retired. All these men involved are retired or semi-retired. The only ones who can still be cleared to wrestle are the outlaws and the two men in the actual match.

What does this do for WWE going forward? This was pure nostalgia that does nothing for the anyone on the current roster. It will make for some nostalgia footage for future mania promos, but really what does it do to carry us forward in a product that is having difficulty creating new stars? Where does the feud with Sting and Triple H go from here? Trips cheated, Sting should want revenge. If he quietly goes away, he looks weak.

Maybe the Kliq gets special spotlight treatment, but it's not like they weren't arguably responsible for the most profitable time in the business. All of them are practically geriatric, but their names are draws. WWE should really be finding ways to link this to the young guys, otherwise what's the point?

Yeah, I'm sick of the Kliq to be honest with you. Well, everyone except Triple H and that's only because he is my favourite wrestler...

In all honesty, I've never really been a big fan of the Kliq with the exception of Shawn Michaels and Triple H of course. I think that Nash, Hall and Waltman are horrible people that used the wrestling business like a cheap hooker; getting everything they could from it and discarding it like such. I've never really liked them since I was a kid and I don't think that will ever change. Now that's not to say that they don't deserve their nod in the Hall of Fame because they definitely do. But top tier picks, they are not. I have come to respect their careers and leave my hatred for them at the door as long as they stay out of the business. And that may sound ridiculously selfish on my part but I really can't stand their attitude.

Nevertheless, last night was fine. The NWO versus DX is something that every Attitude Era fan wanted to see all those years ago and now you have it. Personally, I could let get it out of my head that Nash and Hall were coming to ring against Triple H when they were hugging and celebrating together only one night previously. And saving Sting? That doesn't make sense either...

Like I said, I'm totally fine with what happened last night as long as it stays isolated to last night and we don't see these selfish assholes turn up on Raw every Monday.

Listen to the crowd and the fans.

Everybody was marking out!

That exploded the match.

The big mark out moment of the night with Rollins.

Sucked that Triple H had to stroke his ego to win the match though.

Guys, guys, guys. THE NWO went against DX last night, who cares about logic? I know I didn't while I was marking like a 9 years old.

I see a lot of people complaining. They're saying it was convulted, illogical, made Sting look 'weak'.
It was 'Mania stop fucking overthinking things. You're all ruining it for youself by trying to think like a booker instead of a fan :banghead:

Tired of the Kliq/NWO/DX? Not really....I mean in consecutive years we had HBK, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash retire so that means naturally, you are going to see that. Of course it's HHH's doing to have them visible as often as they are, but it doesn't really bother me all that much. If anyone is over exposed in that group, it's HBK. I mean for someone who is "retired" he sure does get to a lot of shows and makes appearances. The only thing that bothers me was the fact that none of the match made sense to me. I get the nostalgia of it all. I marked out like everyone else did. I was just confused at the ending of the match. There were too many moving parts and nothing really jived.

Now that I can properly think about this, yesterday's Triple H vs Sting match was not only really bad, but nothing more than a big ego boost for Vince and the only reason they even hired Sting is so Vince could put the final nail in the coffin by booking him to lose a match at WWE's highest profile show. And Sting has no one to blame for this but himself for even signing a contract with WWE. It seems to me that he clearly knew that this was all going to happen, but just didn't care at all that Vince couldn't wait to get him in the ring and have his doofus son in law bury him.

I loved seeing them last night being a fan from that era I thought the DX vs NWO was an incredible moment and probably the one and only time we will ever see the full DX and NWO facing each other which was one of the highlights of the whole event for me.

Saying that no matter how good in wrestling a moment is to watch for me personally theres always some guy around in the IWC to b**** about it.
If you disliked it so much you should have just switched TV over for a few minutes or put the kettle on whilst they were on and let everyone else who liked it just enjoy it,

WWE I imagine tries to cater to all demographics by bringing back guys from the past occasionaly for moments like this and not just cater to the 8 year old kids who probably has never heard of NWO or DX.
