Justice League Reviews: Here We Go Again!

I do have to admit that DC has rushed to get to this point in their DCEU. I understand that they didn't want to do a bunch of origin movies and then do the team up because that's exactly what Marvel did, however, Marvel's formula has proven to work and work damn well. So after MOS, should've came a Batman movie in which Batman was first starting out or whatever. Have it take place in the late 90's/early 00's. Have a post credit scene in that movie showing today's Batman, older, wiser, grumpier; watching that Zod broadcast when he asked Earth to turnover Kal-El. Then have your Wonder Woman movie (why that didn't come out before BvS I'll never know). Then do BvS. With those movies coming out befor hand, BvS wouldn't have been so chaotic because it wouldn't have had as much story to tell. Then have a Flash origin. That way they could save all of the introducing us to the Flash time in JL for something else. Do the JL next, because the plot of the JL is a perfect way to introduce Cyborg since he's made from a Mother Box. It's also a perfect way to introduce Aquaman since one of the Mother Boxes is apparently in the deepest ocean(haven't seen the movie yet, just read that). Then go from there. Boom, you have a well though out and planned DCEU.

If they did a Batman origin everyone would bitch about it.

You don't need a Flash origin with the TV show going on.

I didn't necessarily mean an origin story for Batman. I meant, showing him when he was young and still full hope and heroism. I'd like to see how he went from that to the downer and vicious person he was in BvS.

I'm sure this is on the way when they have to re-cast Batman.

We know the Batman origin at this point. It's like Spiderman, you don't need to do an origin ever again.

Watched Justice League yesterday............and folks it's not good.

Sure they added humor, sure the chemistry and character interactions were awesome, but overall the movie's narrative is horrible and Idc how much you like these characters; if their story is bad then the movie is gonna be bad.

Positives: Affleck continues to be a great Batman. Possibly the greatest. Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is still amazing. They finally got Superman, which was awesome. Flash was pretty cool. Cyborg was the only character with a story arc.

Negatives: Cyborg was the only character with a story arc. The CGI was horrific. Even if you didn't know about Cavill's mustache you could see a problem. The story was a mess. The villain is horrible. He has no personality, no backstory, no reason to why he's doing what he's doing other than, "because". The movie didn't have enough time to breathe.

I know a lot of you love to say that comic book movies are too long but this one was too short. Adding so many characters together and introducing new one to boot needs time and this movie didn't have it. I guarantee that there is a 2 hr 30 min+ version of this movie that they're going to release because I can't tell you the number of scenes that were in trailers but was not in the movie. I don't mean one or two like usual, I mean remember that second trailer the came out? The first to use "Come Together"? About 80% of that trailer is not in the movie. That's not the only reason I know there's a longer version though. The movie just felt rushed and like a lot was missing.

Overall, I had fun. The hero's dynamics did work well together, and the action was good, but that can't make up for no story, no stakes, and horrible CGI. There's a report going around that Warner mandated that this movie be 2 hours or less only after Snyder left and Whedon took over. Well for all intents, the film was mostly finished when that happened so Warner just shot themselves in the foot with that.

If I had to give this movie a grade, it would be a C. Not good, but not horrible. Better than Suicide Squad and the THEATRICAL RELEASE of BvS, but behind MOS and a mile behind WW.

It wasn't as bad as it was disappointing. I think there's a lot of potential there - Aquaman was a badass, Flash wasn't irritating, Gadot was good and Superman was the best he's been since Reeve. The whole thing just felt really incomplete. Oddly enough, I'm excited to see what this group can do with a good story and a good director.

I believe that the DCEU is over. JL isn't even going to top 100 million domestically this weekend. It's OPENING WEEKEND!!!. To compare, every other DCEU movie has cracked 100 million. This is JL, though. It should've been closer to 200 million domestically.

People are saying now that they don't even think they're going to make their budget back for this film which, adding in reshoots and advertising, is around 650 million. That's huge. Yep, the DCEU is over with.

So much of it is on the previous movies. I haven't seen Justice League yet, but the mess that was Batman v. Superman didn't exactly have me lining up to take them in. Then again I'm still not over Man of Steel.

Lol the dramatics. Stop.

Warner Brothers have two franchises they can bank on.
DC is one of them.
Harry Potter is the other.

And if it is unrecoverable after Aquaman, then that's what the fuck they get for putting Snyder at the head of this thing. How on fucking earth anyone thought that was a good idea is beyond me

I feel like their decision to go with Snyder was something along the lines of "Well he seems nerdy, he directs a lot of comic book influenced movies, lets do it" and that was their only line of thought.

I don't dislike Snyder, I actually enjoy some of his early work and the visuals he brings to films, but I think the reception that Watchmen got is all the evidence you need to not let him handle another major comic franchise. The reviews were middling and the drop off in attendance after the first week was something like 65%, the biggest dip between opening and second week for any major studio released comic film ever.

Stop having him near things that need actual stories and just let him run with mindless, visually appealing action sequences for ninety minutes.
